Violence & Gore

  • A man plays the drums quickly and gets an open callus. Instead of stopping, he puts on a bandage and keeps playing. Blood seeps through the bandage, and the man puts on more bandages.
  • Drumming involving bloodied hands. Drops of blood can also be clearly seen on drum sets. In one scene, Andrew dips his injured hand in a bucket of ice water and it becomes quite bloody.

Profanity

  • Some religious profanities: "goddamn" and "Jesus Christ".
  • Much of the language is used by Fletcher, though Andrew uses some, too.
  • 97 uses of "Fuck", 33 uses of "Shit" and other profanity.
  • Terence Fletcher is extremely abusive and uses homophohic slurs to his students

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some of the scenes in the film can be very intense and unexpected for sensitive viewers.
  • Terence Fletchers meltdowns and abusive techniques are horrible and can be very hard to watch for all viewers.
  • This movie is very intense.
  • Although a music-themed film, the film is extremely intense throughout as well as emotional. In particular, Fletcher's treatment of his students is incredibly disturbing, to the point of outright cruelty, and will upset most viewers.

Violence & Gore

  • Fletcher hurls a chair towards Andrew, no one is hurt.
  • Fletcher throws objects, including a chair and a cymbal, and slaps Andrew in the practice sessions.
  • Fletcher is verbally abusive to his students.
  • While rushing to get back to a location, a character ends up in a car crash, leaving a mild bloody scar on the head and still bleeding from the crash.
  • The death of one of Fletcher's students is briefly described in two scenes: while Fletcher says he died in a car accident, a counselor at the conservatory says he committed suicide by hanging him self.
  • After Fletcher tells Andrew he's out of the band, Andrew tackles him.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Terrence Fletcher brutally abuses his students, and the realism of it is terrifying. Very intense.
  • It is said that a student killed themselves due to fletchers abusive technique
  • Fletcher slaps Neiman for every time he messes up the rhythm in one scene. Quite hard to watch.
  • Terrence Fletcher throws a chair at Andrew. He misses but the rest of this scene is very intense.
  • Andrew puts his bleeding hand into ice cold water. He is seen in pain.
  • The car crash may surprise viewers because of its brutality.
