Watchable, If a Bit Tediuos

Well acted and held my interest despite only sparse setting & characters. I do have to admit there were couple moments I wanted to give the male half of the duo some brotherly advice (RUN!!!) but that shows that I was personally invested in the film. It's one long but true-to-life conversation, at least for L.A. "people"...

Bad version of 'En La Cama.'

This film felt like a bad ripoff of the spanish movie named En La Cama. The dialog log was really cheesy.

The Barista and the Barkeep
lavatch3 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Two strangers passing in the night like ships. A furtive glimpse into the past. Family secrets revealed. Brief, passionate exchanges. Forlorn moments of silence. Extreme vulnerability covered over by anger.

The phrases above are the gist of this fine two-character drama set in a single room. The actors were outstanding in making credible the raw nature of the characters' emotional life. The only artistic choice that was disconcerting was the cigarette smoke that tended to overwhelm and distract, especially when Sid lit up while Max was still eating his eggs.

Another strength of the film was the portrayal of the culture of rejection of L.A. Both the acting and writing professions are brutal, and the film shows the toll that rejection can take on the human spirit.

One senses that the film artists were working from genuine experience in the drama depicted. This was an extremely well-performed mini-drama made memorable by the attention to detail in the naturalism.

Intimate

Warning: Spoilers
This movie showed up on Amazon, a 70 minute movie about a couple making a connection under unlikely circumstances. That's a theme I like, it was relatively short, and I decided to watch it. Talk about obscure - it didn't show up on IMdB in the search I did (found it through the director's name), I've never heard of either the actress or actor, and there is no credited screenwriter. I suspect the dialog was largely improvised by the actors.

[N.B. I notice that the screenplay is now credited to the male lead. There was no credit when I first wrote, nor did the movie title appear on an IMdB search.]

But that said, it was interesting. The dialog was articulate, and convincing for the most part. The development of the relationship was quite emotionally logical, with only a blip or two. The picture was more sexually explicit than I care for, but even this was used to dramatic effect. The opening scene is a too extended look at the couple in a passionate but somewhat impersonal coupling, really an exercise in mutual self-gratification. Then, about midway through, after there has been a connection that surprises them both, some of the sexual heat returns, and they are once more engaged - only this time they are actually making love, face to face, eyes meeting, ultimate communication. This too was a bit overlong, but it was touching and sweet.

I'm giving the movie 8 stars because it's going to be unfairly ignored. But it did deliver on its promise, and ultimately both parties were rather likable and engaging. It's certainly not a waste of time.

Who made it, under what circumstances, what happened to the actors, and how it ended up on Amazon would interest me, if any one knows.

Very very REAL...

I dont want to be corny but this movie was really good. The depth these 2 went through in getting to know each other and build rapport and closeness - all in one night. It was amazing to watch the transition: they went from just having sex and not knowing anything about each other, to learning about each others deepest "selves" and in the end, making love. To me, that was beautiful.

Deep And somehow Real

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why this movie is so underrated. My 70 mins of watching this movie was worth.

I liked the dialogues, they were promising. It showed how two matured people tryna talk about the darkest truth of thier lives but somehow their insecurities stops them and they freak out. This is what I found surreal about the movie.

I totally disagree with the intercourse part. I don't know but I don't liked it. On and off that was too much for me.

At the end, I really liked how logically they agreed to go ahead together into dating each other. It was an emotional decision with logical reasonings.

Although, I liked it and it is worth to watch.
