Adam Ray is bringing his Dr. Phil parody to Netflix with a wild new special in which the comedian — dressed as the mustachioed talk show host — will come face to face with Dr. Phil himself.
Debuting on Netflix on Nov. 19, the untitled “Adam Ray’s Dr. Phil Comedy Special” will also see Ray-as-Phil interview special guests including Patton Oswalt, Jay Pharoah and “Gollum,” and get to know the audience through silly questions and games.
Ray’s “Dr. Phil Live!” had become one of the hottest tickets at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles before the comedian took it on the road across America. The show will soon expand beyond the United States.
The Netflix special marks the first time the real Dr. Phil has sat down in person with Ray.
The comedian will next take “Dr. Phil Live!” to the New York Comedy Festival on Nov. 15, where he will be headlining at the Beacon Theatre.

From ‘Curb’ to ‘The Comeback,’ HBO knows comedy.
Writing a list of the top HBO comedy TV shows of all time is hard because it’s subjective. What I think is funny and what you think is funny is different – and we’re both right (except I’m more right). Still, it’s fun to do and I can use the release of the new HBO comedy TV series “The Franchise” as an excuse to do it.
With new episodes dropping on Sunday nights, “The Franchise” follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie as they showcase the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking. Sam Mendes is co-creator, so he’s bound to bring the realism having spent years and years of his life making franchise movies. More importantly – as this list will exemplify - HBO knows comedy. Before "Austin Powers," "Johnny English," and "Top Secret!" there was "Get Smart," the 1960s spy sitcom that mined the genre for laughs when the James Bond and "Mission: Impossible" franchises were still in their infancies. Co-created by comedy legends Mel Brook and Buck Henry, "Get Smart" ran for five seasons from 1965 to 1970, earning seven Primetime Emmys and plenty of other accolades along the way.
Stand-up comedian Don Adams starred as Maxwell Smart, the sometimes inept top-secret agent who regularly held the fate of the world in his hands ... and often almost fumbled it. By his side was the beautiful, super-cool Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), who loves Maxwell despite his clumsiness and penchant for messing up missions. The central trio was rounded out by Edward Platt's The Chief, the supportive leader of the intelligence agency Control, which employed both Agent 99 and Maxwell.

Netflix is getting further into the tech world with Scott Z. Burns and Scott Galloway’s Thumblite. After a bidding war, the streamer has landed Media Res’ corporate thriller package starring Rosamund Pike with a straight-to-series order.
Created and written by Extrapolations creator Burns, who serves as showrunner, Thumblite is set in Silicon Valley and examines the schemes, rivalries, visions and obsessions of the power brokers and their underlings as they vie for control of the most powerful industry the world has ever known.
Burns, Galloway and Pike executive produce alongside Greg Jacobs as well as Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer for Media Res.

This year, “Shōgun” has extended the unbroken 2020s trend of at least one series earning multiple Best Drama Writing Emmy notices at once. Although none of the earlier cases resulted in wins, the new FX series is generally expected to fare differently, especially since, unlike most of its predecessors, it won’t have to fend off three-time winner “Succession.”
Of the 10 individuals presently nominated for this writing award, only 2021 champ Peter Morgan (“The Crown”) has competed for it before. Excluding his show and “Slow Horses,” a majority of the programs in this lineup launched in 2024.
In order to determine the likelihood of “Shōgun” making good on one of its bids, let’s take a closer look at each nominee. Be sure to make your predictions in this and 24 other Primetime Emmy categories by September 15.

It started with the social media speculation. “Natty or Not?” people asked, questioning whether Hugh Jackman could possibly have avoided taking steroids to produce the eye-popping physique on display in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Being “natty” — meaning, natural — seemed important to Jackman, 55, who has repeatedly denied using any chemical or hormone enhancements to create the gleaming sharp cuts in his abdomen, and the veins rippling around his muscled arms as “Wolverine.”
The Internet, as usual, was skeptical.
“Steroids. It’s steroids,” influencer Noam Blum wrote on X. “I don’t know why everyone still insists on this weird industry-wide denial. It’s fine. This isn’t a professional sports competition. Steroids aren’t illegal. They all do it with steroids.”
Blum’s reply had 26.4 million views as of Wednesday.
Wolverine is a superhero and needs to look like one. But Jackman was dramatically less ripped when he first played the character in 2000’s “X-Men.

It’s been over a decade since Silicon Valley perfectly parodied Big Tech and its many billionaires. Ten years is a long time to wait for an apology if you’re in the Three Comma Club.
When Silicon Valley creator and sitcom savant Mike Judge first set out to satirize the culture surrounding the tech industry, with all its start-ups, buzzwords and eccentric a-hole billionaires, he drew upon his own brief experience working as a computer programmer at a computer graphics card manufacturer in the late 1980s. Judge made a point to hire writers and consultants with contemporary knowledge of tech culture, and when HBO aired the first episode of Silicon Valley in 2014, the story of a ragtag team of brilliant coders struggling to get their company off the ground immediately struck a chord with underappreciated programmers across Northern California.

After the success of Ron Howard's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (a hit so big even the 2018 animated remake broke box office records), it was a no-brainer for Hollywood to look to other Dr. Seuss books for inspiration for its next success. Despite rumors that the show had been scrapped, Marvel Studios' Wonder Man is still very much alive, and is continuing to round out its supporting cast.
According to Deadline, the latest actor to join the series is Byron Bowers, who is set to appear in the Alma Har’el-directed limited series Lady In The Lake alongside Natalie Portman. His other credits include Showtime’s The Chi, Honey Boy, Concrete Cowboy, No Sudden Move, and Kimi.
Bowers' character has not been disclosed - though that doesn't necessarily mean his role is being kept under wraps for any interesting reason.
As some predicted, it seems "Wonder Man" is going to be its own film franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as recent set photos gave us a look at the movie's logo. Though the silhouette didn't feature Simon Williams' (Yahya Abdul-Mateen) likeness, it did give us a glimpse of the character's superhero chest emblem.

The Dcu has several projects in active development, including a live-action ‘Booster Gold’ TV series. James Gunn recently confirmed that the show is in active development but won’t begin production in the near future.
Despite this, rumors about casting the lead role have been circulating. Due to their connections with Dcu head James Gunn, both Antony Starr and Chris Pratt have been linked to the role of Booster Gold.
NexusPoint News has reported that Kumail Nanjiani has been cast as Booster Gold. However, it’s advisable to approach this news with caution as they haven’t provided substantial evidence to support the claim, apart from a vague social media post that suggests Nanjiani may now be involved with the Dcu.

Dcu has plenty of projects currently being in development and actively being worked on, and one of them is a live-action ‘Booster Gold’ TV series. Recently, James Gunn revealed that the show is being actively worked on but it’s not going to go into production anytime soon.
Still, this didn’t stop the rumors related to casting the titular character from spreading, and due to their connections to the Dcu head, James Gunn, both Antony Starr and Chris Pratt were connected to the character.
Now NexusPoint news reports that Kumail Nanjiani was cast as Booster Gold, but take this with a grain of salt considering that they failed to provide significant evidence to support the claim besides one X post that seems to imply that Nanjiani is now a part of a Dcu.

When James Gunn first took reigns of DC Studios as the co-ceo alongside Peter Safran, fans had high hopes for him because of his exemplary CV and how he could create successful movie projects. After all, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are two of his most popular projects in the Dceu.

The murky world of Silicon Valley is to be the backdrop for AMC’s latest original.
Jonathan Glatzer, who has written on series including Succession and Better Call Saul, is writing the untitled series, which has been handed a series order.
The series is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO and his self-serving “performance psychologist”, who are engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.
Glatzer was a producer on AMC’s Better Call Saul, a supervising producer on HBO’s Succession and a co-exec producer on Apple’s Bad Sisters.
It is produced by AMC Studios.

Just last month, we learned that Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick), Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Ed Harris (The Truman Show) had signed on to star in the revenge thriller Huntington for A24 and writer/director John Patton Ford. Now Huntington has gone into production, and Deadline has revealed that the cast also includes Jessica Henwick (Glass Onion), Topher Grace (That 70s Show), Zach Woods (Silicon Valley), and Raff Law (Masters of the Air). Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are longtime friends, but the two had never worked together. “Fallout” proved to be the perfect starting point. “Graham wrote one of my very favorite unproduced pilots ever, which was to the great ‘Star Trek’ show ‘Worf,’ which Graham always described as the ‘Baskets’ of a ‘Star Trek’ show,” Robertson-Dworet tells Gold Derby (watch above). “But I think what it showed me was that he has a really unique sensibility and he brought to that show — which is a very popular world that has been explored and very serious sci-fi tone for a long time — a lot of just sort of surprising comedy. And I think that was what ‘Fallout’ needed and I was very excited to partner with my longtime friend Graham. For any self-respecting user of the internet in 2024, rewatching the now-decade-old pilot of HBO’s acclaimed tech-geek comedy series Silicon Valley is like traveling to another dimension. It’s a world where Elon Musk still carries a positive public image as a “real-life Iron Man,” where there wasn’t yet an app for everything and diligent code monkeys worked away huddled in ramshackle ranch-home “incubators.” Here, venture capital funding pours down on ambitious startups like a torrent, and tech CEOs still carry at least a passive, liberal optimism about their businesses “making the world a better place” — even if it was “through constructing elegant hierarchies for maximum code reuse and extensibility.”...

Dan Harmon has established a pretty neat little entertainment empire, creating the beloved cult hit "Community" before co-creating "Rick and Morty" and overseeing Apple TV+'s "Strange Planet" and Fox's "Krapopolis." But it's been a rocky road to success for Harmon, who was previously kicked off his own show before being rehired, and in 2018 had to publicly apologize for his prior mistreatment of "Community" writer Megan Ganz — and those are just a couple of examples of the man's controversies. Despite these debacles, however, Harmon has been an entertainment mainstay for well over a decade at this point, and during that time he's not only managed to create several of his own successful shows, but he's also apparently been fairly influential in perhaps the biggest Hollywood success story of the modern era: the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

NPR is about to get an adult rebrand. The new Peacock animated comedy series “In The Know,” premiering Thursday, Jan. 25, follows Lauren Caspian (Zach Woods) – well-meaning but totally hypocritical - as he conducts in-depth interviews with real world human guests across funny, scary, and friendly conversations. Oh, and did we mention he’s a stop motion puppet? Each episode in the series will follow the making of an episode of Caspian’s show In the Know, as he collaborates with other NPR staff (also puppets and nimrods) and asks the tough questions through his frail, overconfident male puppet persona that boasts a woman’s name: Lauren Caspian. Don’t miss any of the wacky humor from the mind of the man who’s portrayed some of your favorite characters in shows like “The Office” and “Silicon Valley” - Zach Woods. You can watch In the Know: Season 1 with a subscription to Peacock.

"On air!" Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a streaming series debuting later in January called In The Know, a fun riff on NPR office life. It's co-created by Brandon Gardner, Zach Woods, and comedy mastermind Mike Judge. This public radio parody follows the making of NPR's fictional "third most popular host" Lauren Caspian's radio program, where he conducts in-depth interviews with special guests – including Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, Mike Tyson, Hugh Laurie, Jorge Masvisdal, and more. "He's a well-meaning, hypocritical nimrod, just like you and me. He's also a stop motion puppet." The show features stop-motion animation from ShadowMachine (the same place that also made Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio) and a voice cast featuring Zach Woods as Lauren, Charlie Bushnell, J. Smith-Cameron, Mike Judge, Caitlin Reilly, & Carl Tart. The cleverest part are the interviews with real people spliced with all the other antics.
