Instead of adding representation, MTV takes existing shows airtime away for this trash

This show has been wedged to air in between RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 and RuPaul's Drag Race Untucked, hoping for fans of that show to be too lazy to switch channels.

In turn, it also shortened the air time of Drag Race to 60 minutes with commercials instead of 90, making it appear much more heavily edited and forced.

Real Friends of WeHo disguised itself as queer representation, however it does nothing to earn it. In fact, to even exists, it cuts of half an hour of already existing acclaimed queer representation, which was, quite frankly, the worst decision MTV could have made.

This show might have stood a chance if it wasn't a pure cash grab and made to "redeem" Todrick Hall, who came under scrutiny for not paying his employees and much more.

If you want to make room for queer representation, actually make room for it. Don't take away the representation that already exists. Put your heart and soul into it and don't produce an ego boost of people who should need some time away from the spotlight.

Actually give queer people shows they want to see. Then maybe you'll get the ratings YOU want to see, MTV.

Don't force feed us trash and expect us to say thank you. Especially after peeing into our soup beforehand as well.

Give us back the normal length of Drag Race, find more space for queer shows at other times, and produce something worthwhile. Maybe that way you'll find success.

But this ain't it.

Couldn't make it passed 10 minutes.

This show needs to be cancelled ASAP. I'm embarrassed for everyone involved.

For show that is allegedly supposed to be about influential LGBTQ+ friends, the cast is nothing but a bunch of boring washed up wanabe has-beens (who never actually were) who you know have never actually met prior to this garbage show being created.

Todrick Hall in particular is disgusting and despite this trashy show trying to paint him in a sympathetic light, no sane person would buy it.

If I die and go to hell, I'm pretty sure I'd be forced to strapped down to a chair and forced to watch this dreadful series on repeat.

Apart the fact that it took rpdr air time, it's actually bad. There's no good point on the show that makes you wanna watch again, pretty empty. The characters seems to be faking the hole thing and there's no spontaneous of any kind. It's pretty rough to watch and sorry about the words but, it makes you hate gays. It's so stereotype, so makes no real service to the community. Last thoughts: it's a cheap show, not on money, but in creativity... in some multiverse it would probably be enjoyable if it wasn't already done, it's like the producers have others projects to think about and they made this one to pay the game bill they hade with the hosters.

Stop trying to make "Real Friends" happen!

Its never going to happen. I would give it zero stars if I could. You can tell the cast members don't truly know each other and were cast because they are "familiar" faces. The relationships are fake. The show is blah. There is nothing interesting or engaging about this show. Its vapid, its boring. Its existence takes away from a show people actually like. Why did MTV think this was a good show? It feels like a rainbow corporation money grab; they are trying to capitalize on the audience already there for the show that airs prior. Please MTV, cancel this show and add the time back to the length of RPDR.

Unnecessary and not in any way worth the time. We don't need a time slot of simply watching these people carry on with their days. I've personally never understood the desire for that type of programming but to each their own. There are so many more options for queer media. Look for those. They are of higher quality and can actually add something to your life. What they are I'm not sure.. I don't need to know to be sure they are of higher quality and will add more to your life. This does nothing, is purposeless, serves no one except the over inflated egos of these few individuals desperate to keep their spotlight.

Terrible show, should've never been green lit but the time slot it plays at is even more of an insult. Needs to be pulled off the air. MTV needs to be ashamed of themselves and maybe place this show in one of their many Ridiculousness time slots. If anything this show being placed closer to Ridiculousness feels more fitting and or correct. Toddrick never fails in his ability to be the modern day scammerina and I wish MTV would admit to being scammed. The fact they're writing him a check is disgusting. Not to mention the fact they decided to cut into an Emmy ward winning show with this trash and then hold another show (Untucked) hostage. Please don't waste any brain cells or eye activity on this show.

It is the year 2023. Why would we willingly endure a show filled with nothing but shallow, vapid, privileged gay males? Is this really what we've been fighting for over the last decades?

I'm not even gonna get into the extremely stupid decision by MTV to cut down Drag Race for this overproduced - sorry, I meant overprized - screensaver, as there is nothing I could add. Just check the petition.

But since I have to fill this review, here are some thoughts about the so called "friends":

• Brad? Honestly, I'd never heard of him before Canada's Drag Race and that didn't exactly leave me wanting more (that voice!).

• Toddrick? Seriously?!?! A toxic, untalented former Youtuber who has forced his way on our TV screens for way too long and should be/is facing criminal charges. GREAT CHOICE! Such a role model. (insert sarcasm sign here)

• Then I guess there is the husband of some slightly more famous gay who had a 2 minute guest stint on Trixie Motel. So memorable.

The rest? Honestly, I can't even remember.

Do yourself a favour and go watch something more interesting. Paint drying on a wall for example.

There's little to no relatability. Todrick hall is literally the worst person on the planet and the fact that they chose to highlight that trash can of a human is mind boggling. On top of the fact that they shaved off time from lgbt favorite program (drag race). The cast seems so out of touch with reality. They're not actually friends. There's bo chemistry on the show. And the simple fact that they put Todrick in the spotlight makes it a SOLID no from me. Cancel them immediately. Don't waste your time. You'd be better off watching paint dry. Hmmmm what else? Oh yeah, Todrick Hall is ragggedyyyyy.

As interesting as watching water boil

None of these "celebs" are the least bit interesting. Not the least of which is the highly troublesome Todrick, who think this show will help him not pay his dancers.

Sandwiching it between the two most popular shows at Viacom (Rupaul's Drag Race and RDR Untucked) is a slap in the face to the fans who enjoy watching both shows back to back.

It's obvious no one wants to see this piece of trash. The reviews all over the web and the worst rotten tomatoes score proves that this trash is not needed. If you wanna give us a show that we wanna watch, cast RuGirls. 🙄

Also, the name is stupid, none of these people are "friends" in the "real world".

I LOVE the idea of having more LGBT representation on TV, however; nobody cares about anybody on this cast, there is no diversity (only gay men) and the show is not good to boot!! Please listen to the viewers advice and get rid of this show... it gives us a bad look as a community. Todrick Hall is an attention and fame vampire who will do anything to be in the spotlight and does not deserve a platform like this and to be a face of the LGBT community. Please give us that extra hour of absolutely anything else on MTV in place of this show. Drag Race fans are losing out on such a good portion of the show due to this dumpster fire. Do better MTV!!!

I loved the first episode of this show and can't wait for the rest of the season!

I've been a long time follower of both Joey Zauzig and Brad Goreski and look forward to seeing how the show develops, getting to know them each in a new way and also getting to know the other cast members.

Though I've already formed some opinions, I'm waiting to see how things shake out and develop before sharing or jumping to conclusions.

Please don't listen to the negative reviews from trolls who are just jealous and want to hurt others by trying to tear this show down.

Do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP if you haven't already!

Real Friends = Real bad TV

This show had the same intelligence level as Kardashians trash shows. These "stars" of show I really don't have any idea what they do. Toddrick is trash in my opinion, Brad Goreski was on Fashion Police long ago, the rest of them I don't know or care about watching. These "reality" shows are fake. Everything is so staged it doesn't even feel real. I've seen soap operas on Telemundo that felt more genuine.plus I hate when they film in real places, and basically make the regular people have to stay away, or you are given so many guidelines if you want to stay and be in background. Sorry, I'd rather watch yet more Ridiculousness reruns. Hope this show doesn't last.

There's bad and there's Weho!

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to reality shows. Below Deck, 600lb Sisters etc. But this is astonishing.

The show centers around a bunch of has been or wannabe gay men. Joey is the absolute worst. "Nobody understands me. I used to be a child. I work hard. I wake up in the morning and take photos of myself, blah, blah). He organises a party for his engagement, that only he cares about, asks for no drama. But when no drama happens, he scours the place and pounces on the quietest guest, Dorion, (Who didn't really want to be there), and let's rip. He's clearly angry that he heard Dorion previously mentioned "influencer" is not a real job, and so tries to prove his point by starting an argument on camera.

If only IMDb allowed minus stars!

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

In a heated political climate where LGBTQ people are ostracized, legislated against, and attacked on the daily, The Real Friends of Weho arrives on the scene as yet another attempt at validating homophobia.

Do you like vapid homosexuals? Do you like the least diverse group of LGBTQ people that could ever exist in the state of California? Do you like robbery and fraud? Then not only do you stand alone but you might be RFOW's only fan.

The lack of representation on a show that prides itself on representation is yet another joke in this failing comedy, but with diversity hire Todrick Hall sending back black queer people a few hundreds years with every episode he shows his face in, any other minority group within the LGBT community is likely counting their stars they were not included.

The Real Friends of Weho, at the end of the day, is the miscarriage of its network and it will be discarded of very soon so there isn't much left to say about it. It'll be less than a memory soon enough and thank gay god for that.

Where can I make a return?

I gave it a try and regretted it after 10 minutes. To be fair, I thought Brad and Curtis added something of substance but not enough to carry the show. It just captures the life of privileged, catty and relatively empty gay men trotting around WeHo trying to show how "fabulous" they are. Yes we've seen this in real housewives franchises but it's not as cringe. It screams desperation for attention and the need to be validated. Self importance and narcissism on overload. MTV really made a mistake on this one and unsure how it even saw the light of day. Don't even get me started on Todrick. Save yourself the effort and time by skipping this one.

Here we are. This is a trainwreck. Beyond the fact that Todrick is a waste of a person, the rest of the cast is bland and unimportant. Forgettable reality trash, not entirely sure why it was even greenlit. They cut 20 minutes of Drag Race to give us this real housewives knock off that will likely go down in history as the nail in todrick's coffin.

This is not queer representation. This is a mockery, and is the exact opposite of what the community at large asked for. Do way better.

Also Brad Goreski you're perfect and beautiful this isn't about you. The rest of u are boring or bad, and i wont be silent.

Worst show ever

This reality show was a complete waste of time. The contestants were all uninteresting and lacked any real personalities. The challenges were dull and uninspired, and the so-called "drama" was contrived and forced. The editing was choppy and did nothing to enhance the overall viewing experience. It was obvious that the producers were more focused on creating drama than actually finding a talented or interesting group of people. I couldn't wait for this show to be over and I would not recommend it to anyone.

To think they shortened Ru Paul Drag Race for this. It is absolutely outrageous. These people are not representative!!

Absolute joke

This was so horrible to watch. Being all catty and narcissistic is not how we as LGBTQ+ community wish to be perceived. Only 2 of them lives in West Hollywood the rest are fillers. Horrible casting and scandals even before premiering. Chris Salvatore was fired for having an Only Fans by his fellow cast mates and Todrick Hall is one of them which makes sense since he didn't pay his dancers, gaslight multiple people, and a judge ruled 100K missing on rent on his house.

Just because it is queer doesn't mean your actions aren't harmful to multiple people and it doesn't necessarily require for the LGBTQ+ to support a show with horrible characters represnting the community.

Vapid, bland, uninspiring reality TV

What is there to say about this show? From the fact that none of these gay men are actually friends outside of the show, to MTV's poor marketing and airing decisions, this show was a flop from the onset.

The two more-known characters, Brad Goreski and Todrick Hall, do very little to give this show a platform or to help it land on its feet; the idea that "women can do it, so gay men can too" is the perfect recipe for an awful show. The thing that worked about The Real Housewifes (RH) was that it was not trying to be something from go to woah- this show takes the RH format and shoves six bland, cheque-grabbing gay men together when there would be no natural relationship between them if it weren't for the opportunity of Todrick getting some money to finally pay his rent.

I can only pray for Brad's career after this.

Overall a disappointing entry into MTV's showlist, which is shocking when it mostly consists of Ridiculousness and Catfish at this point.

Entertaining

I am loving this show. It's far less catty than I was expecting based off of what people are saying in reviews. It's way less catty than The Real Housewives franchise. There is a guy on the show that is dealing with coming out and fully accepting who he is. I find those parts heart wrenching and I feel for him so much. I am unfamiliar with why people hate Toddrick Hall. I'll be sure to Google that soon, but on this show I like him. It seems like this show has a lot of baggage with the public and do people aren't actually watching it before reviewing it. If you have no preconceived ideas about this show, I think it would be entertaining.

FAKE FRIENDS OF WE-FLOP

Really MTV! Instead of airing massive amounts of Ridiculousness( whatever that show name) slot this show instead of cutting drag race to 45 minutes.

MTV should do better, and thinking that this show would have stayed a float with Todrick( Fraudrick) was not a good decision. Pushing fake drama to the audience is not working.

Cancel this show entirely and bring back 90 Minutes of Drag. The drag race Queens have put so much effort and being told after production that the showing time has been cut from 90 minutes to 60 minutes is Very Bad altogether.

Do not watch the show as it is boring and is a waste of time.

A nightmare of vapid self importance and delusion

This has to be one of the worst shows MTV has produced and that is saying something.

These people are so out of touch with reality and do nothing to appropriately represent the LGBTQIA+ community.

Unbelievably self-important to the point that it is cringey and embarrassing.

Does MTV think we're that stupid and vapid?

Please rethink what you believe to be true about our community and try again, or maybe don't.

You really blew this one.

It seemed so catty right out of the gate and painted us to look rather nasty. Maybe if these characters didn't act like they were entitled royalty immediately it would have been somewhat palatable.

Several reasons this show should be cancelled

Most of them have been outlined extensively by other reviewers. In summary, Drag Race was cut short for this show that does not represent real gays. The Real Housewives was always marketed as rich ladies partying and fighting, but this was marketed as some sort of "Your friendly neighborhood gays" group, which they are not.

Most especially, we do not support Todrick who has been scamming for years. He tried to publicly shame the community because we weren't supporting him. If it's all about gays supporting each other, why was Chris Salvatore fired after an entire week of filming because 2 of the guys wouldn't film with him because he has an OnlyFans? They don't do that on straight reality shows, and believe me, a lot of those people have OnlyFans (Love Island, etc).

The LGBTQIA+ community DOES want more content to show the world we're here and we're queer, get used to it. "The Last of Us" Episode 3 did a fantastic job of delivering that message. We just don't want one of the ONLY shows given to us to be about rich, shallow individuals that literally cuts into 33% of the show that gives a platform to up-and-coming queer artists that NEED the platform to earn a living.

I'd love to give this show a zero.

Since todrick Hall is in this show I won't watch it... no need to.....If he's in it, I know it's trash. Just gay stereotypes... it does no good for anyone. A reality show about gay police officers or firemen or doctors basically anyone that contributes to the world would be better. Weho.? Really. ? Todrick somehow thinks he's better then anyone. Which is what weho is full of and in reality he always appears to be a prissy mean and not a good person. How about a show that puts a positive light on gays guys just living a normal life or a show about real gay celebrities not just wanna bes. This show looks like a train wreck.

I have never seen such bad vibes come so strongly off a group of people in my life and yea I'm not a fan of Fraudrick but they make him look decent that's how bad this fake "friend group" is. Weho in general just predictable as they say, pumped lipped wannabe stars that think getting Botox each day is some kind of personality trait. You do you but yall are unheard of and just chasing clout off of Fraudrick. Never seen more fake in my life.
