After years of rumors and speculation, Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun reboot looks like it is finally heading into production. Set to be directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer, and written by Dan Gregor and Doug Man, fans expect a lot from this reboot. While many have tried (and failed) to update the franchise, and it’s hard to imagine anyone stepping into Leslie Nielsen’s iconic shoes at Lt. Frank Drebin, it’s pretty interesting that the team pairing on this is the same one that teamed on Disney’s much better than expected reboot of Chip n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers. All involved are really funny, so if anyone could make this work, it’s them. With a release date tentatively set for July 18th, 2025, here’s everything we know about the Naked Gun reboot.

It may seem sacrilegious to reboot The Naked Gun, but if anyone can fill the brilliantly deadpan shoes of Leslie Nielsen, it will be Liam Neeson. The actor has been attached to the reboot for a few years, but the project finally seems to be moving forward, with production expected to kick off later this year.
While speaking with THR, Liam Neeson was asked why he wanted to tackle a flat-out comedy such as The Naked Gun.
“It’s funny because right before Christmas, my sons and I were looking through the Academy screeners and trying to find something silly, some silly, stupid movie that we could giggle at,” Neeson explained. “There was none, of course, as they were all very heavy and international. I mean, brilliant movies but all very heavy. When Seth MacFarlane approached me about it — this was about two years ago, now — I thought, yeah, I...

Leslie Nielsen famously flipped his career 180 degrees when he started working with the Zuckers — David and Jerry — on the 1980 comedy Airplane! Nielsen was a seasoned dramatic actor who took his serious demeanor and used it to deliver the silliest of lines in a dry manner, resulting in some of the greatest comedy performances. Nielsen was able to become a leading man late in his career in The Naked Gun series, which would then spin him off into more leading roles in similar comedies, which would not necessarily be made by the Zuckers.
Enter Liam Neeson. The thespian has already reinvented himself when the former dramatic actor starred in 2008’s Taken, which showed that he could use his tall stature in the action genre. Neeson’s acting route would eventually land him in some comedy roles, including a self-parody guest spot on Life’s Too Short and working with Seth MacFarlane on...

Liam Neeson is going to try out a different particular set of skills. The “Taken” star will take a pratfall into slapstick comedy in an upcoming reboot of “The Naked Gun,” the supremely silly parody franchise about cops. On Wednesday, Paramount set a July 18, 2025 release date for the movie, Variety reports.
The film, which is currently untitled, will be directed and executive produced by Akiva Schaffer, Emmy-winning director of “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” and member of the musical comedy group The Lonely Island. Schaffer wrote the script with “Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers” writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”) and Erica Huggins (“Ted”) are producing through their company Fuzzy Door.
“The Naked Gun” franchise was created by the comedy team of David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker with the 1982 TV series “Police Squad!”, which starred Leslie Nielsen as a dimwitted detective named Frank Drebin.

Did you forget that there's a reboot of the parody franchise "The Naked Gun" in the works at Paramount Pictures? Not only is the project still happening, but Paramount Pictures has announced an official release date for the comedy revamp: July 15, 2025. That means cameras should be rolling this year if they haven't already started production without us knowing.
"The Naked Gun" followed Leslie Nielsen as bumbling Los Angeles detective Frank Drebin as he encountered various plots of crime and intrigue, often getting into outlandish, slapstick situations. Based on the short-lived spoof series "The Police Squad!" that aired on ABC in 1982, the film series was infinitely more successful, resulting in two sequels that became solid box office hits. With all the nostalgia there is for rebooting previously successful titles, it was only a matter of time before Paramount circled back around to "The Naked Gun."
However, with studios sparsely taking risks on big-screen comedies,...

To celebrate the release of A Million Ways to Die in the West on Blu-Ray and DVD from 12 February 2024, we are giving away 2 Blu-Rays to 2 lucky winners!
A Million Ways to Die in the West was directed by Emmy Award winning Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane and written alongside his collaborators on stoner fantasy comedy Ted and Ted 2 – Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. The film stars an ensemble cast including MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Neil Patrick Harris, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, and Liam Neeson with cameo appearances from Ewan McGregor and Ryan Reynolds.
In Arizona 1882 nothing comes easy in the bitterly unforgiving Old West except dying. Albert (Seth MacFarlane) is a soft man in hard times who really doesn’t fit in. Adding to Albert’s distress and feelings of inadequacy, his girlfriend (Amanda Seyfried) leaves him for the town’s moustache groomer (Neil Patrick-Harris). When a mysterious and...

Seth Macfarlane’s animated series Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad have become as culturally significant as The Simpsons. With edgy humor and non sequitur galore, MacFarlane segued to the big screen with the fantasy comedy Ted starring Mark Wahlberg about a man-child and his teddy bear who has come alive. Full of gross-out humor and equal amounts of heartfelt comedy, Ted was a smash hit and spawned a sequel. Since then, MacFarlane has made A Million Ways To Die In The West and the more serious science fiction series The Orville. Now, MacFarlane is returning to Ted with a Peacock prequel series that blends the sitcom format of his animated shows with that same blend of crass and feel-good comedy that has become his trademark.

Plot: In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan and cousin Blaire. Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.
Review: Seth MacFarlane is an acquired taste. Family Guy is the type of series that you either love or hate. With the Ted films, MacFarlane dove deeper into the heartfelt and feel-good humor underneath all the crass jokes and bodily fluids. I...

The name’s Drebin. Detective Frank Drebin of Police Squad. The beloved Leslie Nielsen comedy had recently been given the greenlight for a reboot at Paramount with Liam Neeson stepping in the lead role. Once planned to be a Seth MacFarlane movie, he stays on a producer, and Akiva Schaffer steps in as writer and director of the comedy. Neeson has now said that the production hopes to move forward with shooting to take place this summer, according to Collider.
While Neeson is promoting his more serious film noir, that’s a throwback to a classic, golden era of noir movies, Marlowe, the Taken actor mentioned that the goal is to start sometime this year. “Yes, we’re waiting on a script. You'd be forgiven if you feel overwhelmed by the plethora of shared universes. Did you see the first "Doctor Strange"? If you're interested in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," you'll need to watch two "Avengers" movies, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," and all of "WandaVision" to understand what's going on. The DC Universe is even more confusing. While there are some projects that take place within the same continuity, there are also standalone films like "The Batman" and "Joker" that aren't set in the primary universe. DC is adopting its version of the "multiverse" in the upcoming film "The Flash," which will feature the return of Michael Keaton's Batman from the Tim Burton films, as well as Ben Affleck's version from Zack Snyder's projects. That's going to confuse your average audience member who simply thought that Robert Pattinson was the new Batman.

While the most recent season of “The Orville” was released on Fox over 3 years ago, the upcoming possible final season dubbed, “New Horizons”, was announced to be coming to Hulu instead of straight-up cable and as the show has been so far delayed from Covid it only makes sense

As the most popular streaming service in the world with over 100 million more subscribers than their closest competitors, Netflix are obligated to serve up a steady stream of fresh content to keep their customers occupied. They might be spending close to $20 billion on in-house originals this year alone, but it’s extremely difficult to maintain a platform made up entirely of exclusive titles, which is why so many licensed movies and TV shows are added each month.
Due to the restrictions put in place around the world as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, people are spending a lot more time at home than usual, and understandably, viewership figures for all of the major services have gone through the roof, which has led to some pretty unexpected titles dominating Netflix’s Top 10 most-watched list.

Seth MacFarlane is best known as the creator of Family Guy, but he’s built up a reputation over the last two decades as one of the busiest and most prolific multi-hyphenates in the industry, somehow finding the time to voice countless characters in his animated output that at various stages included American Dad, The Cleveland Show and his Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy, not to mention live-action appearances in everything from Gilmore Girls to Star Trek: Enterprise, as well as releasing six studio albums.
At first, it looked like he would make a seamless transition to the big screen when Ted earned almost $550 million at the box office on a budget of just $50 million and scored an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song, but MacFarlane has never managed to recapture that same kind of momentum in the years since.

Ryan Reynolds might be known for lacing the vast majority of his onscreen performances with a rich dose of self-deprecating humor, but the Deadpool star hasn’t actually featured in an out-and-out comedy for close to a decade. While he’s made uncredited cameo appearances in Seth McFarlane’s Ted and A Million Ways to Die in the West, you’d have to go back to 2011’s The Change-Up to find his last comedy vehicle.
Directed by Wedding Crashers‘ David Dobkin, The Change-Up puts an R-rated spin on the body-swap formula as Reynolds’ hedonistic man-child Mitch ends up trading lives and identities with his longtime best friend Dave, with Jason Bateman finding himself in familiar territory as the straight man in a foul-mouthed studio comedy.

Liam Neeson‘s stuntman took one for the team.
On Thursday, the Oscar-nominated actor, 67, revealed to Watch What Happens Live viewers and host Andy Cohen that he declined to show his bare backend on the big screen, instead enlisting his longtime stunt double Mark Vanselow to complete the shot.
“I hate my Irish butt, okay?” joked Neeson.
The memorable scene in question is from 2014’s A Million Ways to Die in the West, directed by Family Guy‘s Seth MacFarlane. In the comedy, Neeson plays the villainous cowboy Clinch, who is knocked out by Charlize Theron‘s Anna in order to escape his clutch.

Charlize Theron became the 33rd recipient, and 7th woman, and first South African to get the American Cinematheque Award on Friday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Created in 1986 as a sort of antidote to the AFI Life Achievement Award it is meant to honor someone in the middle of their career, not the end as so many of these life achievement awards tend to do. In terms of staying alive and active , the Cinematheque has made some remarkably durable choices with only one winner, 1988 honoree Robin Williams no longer with us, and the other 32 beginning with Eddie Murphy in 1986 still alive and thriving, presumably continuing to fight the good fight as the Cinematheque honor is designed to encourage. Unlike the AFI honor which comes in the spring, this one is presented right in the heart of the Hollywood awards season and thus often goes to people who may be...

A mathematical calculus goes into attending a movie star tribute. Truth is, most people would rather be home in their pajamas on a Friday night. So why turn up in black tie for salty Beverly Hilton salmon at the American Cinematheque Awards?

Here’s why these Hollywood folks agree to participate in these fundamentally fake events.

As Charlize Theron accepted the 33rd American Cinematheque honor at the Beverly Hilton on Friday night, the atmosphere more resembled a roast than a reverential evening celebrating the cinematic achievements of an Oscar winner. Presenters like Seth Rogen, Kristen Stewart and Seth MacFarlane shared bawdy jokes and reveals about what it’s really like working with the star. And, as Theron laughed along and flipped her friends the finger, it seemed as if the actor wouldn’t have wanted the evening to go any other way.
MacFarlane — who directed and starred opposite Theron in “A Million Ways to Die in the West” — hosted and opened the show, joking, “This is also a very meaningful night because Charlize is proof that at long last African Americans are thriving.”

Albuquerque Studios entered the spotlight last October when it was purchased by Netflix. While the complex is clearly the jewel in the crown of New Mexico’s production infrastructure, with eight soundstages totaling 132,000 square feet, 100,000 square feet of production offices, a large backlot and support space, it’s not the only modern studio facility in the Land of Enchantment.
In fact, before Netflix set up shop in Albuquerque, the bulk of its productions in the state were based some 60 miles northeast at Santa Fe Studios, which boasts two 19,275-square-foot soundstages, 25,000 square feet of production offices and a 57-acre backlot. Operated by the Hool family (brothers Lance and Conrad Hool and Lance’s son Jason), it has hosted the Netflix series “Godless” and “Longmire” and the streamer’s features “The Ridiculous 6” and “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs,” as well the Season 3 finale of “House of Cards.”

“The empire is accidental,” says Seth MacFarlane as he sits atop the sort of rarefied showbiz kingdom — television shows, movies, acting roles, musical albums, merchandise — that only a handful of entertainment industry titans such as George Lucas and Walt Disney have known.
MacFarlane, who is set to receive a star April 23 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, says there was never a plan to build such a legacy, only to work on things that make him happy.
“I think you’ll be surprised by some of the ideas and the things that he’s excited about,” says Erica Huggins, the president of MacFarlane’s production company Fuzzy Door. She expects the company’s future to potentially include dramas, remakes, podcasts — plus content from other creators who excite her boss. “The best way to describe the kind of genius that Seth has is that he sees it in the full picture.

Food Bank For New York City, the city’s leading hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs, will host its annual Can Do Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 16th, at Cipriani Wall Street.
This year’s event will honor Chef José Andrés; David Burtka & Neil Patrick Harris; Hildy Simmons; and Stop & Shop for their commitment to hunger relief in New York City. The evening is instrumental in raising funds and awareness to provide support for the 1.5 million New Yorkers who rely on the charity’s vital programs and services.
Sponsored by Bank of America and chaired by Lee Brian Schrager and Jodisue Rosen & Scott R. Feldman, the evening event will feature a live performance and auction.
“Our honorees this year exemplify what it means to create lasting, positive change in our city and the world. Each has created a powerful legacy that any New Yorker or NYC brand could replicate.
