A military officer attempts to hunt down a terrorist, destroy a terrorist gang and deactivate the sleeper cells under its command.

Virat (Akshay Kumar) is among a battalion of military officers that comes to Mumbai on vacation. Virat is also a secret Defence Intelligence Agent who cannot lie low, much to the irritation of his friend and sub inspector. During a bus ride, an attempt to frisk passengers for a lost wallet leads Virat to something much bigger. Within minutes, the bus is blown into pieces and he helps cops nab the carrier of the bomb, who escapes from the hospital only to be caught by Virat again. Using tact, Virat follows one clue at a time hoping to track down the terrorist on whose orders the sleeper cell terrorists plan to cause mayhem in Mumbai.—Sadiq khan (sadiqkhandirector@gmail.com)

Virat Bakshi (Akshay Kumar), Captain in D.I.A. (Defense Intelligence Agency), a wing of Indian Army, returns to his home in Mumbai on a holiday. Virat's colleagues from Mumbai had traveled with him on their vacation. Major Pratap Panikar (Govinda) is Virat's senior commanding officer.

On his arrival, his parents rush him to see Saiba Thapar (Sonakshi Sinha), who they wanted him to marry. But Virat rejects her with an excuse that she is old fashioned, shy and timid and not his type. Virat wanted a stylish and impressive girl, and not someone who looks like who just came from a village. On the contrary, Saiba is a professional boxer and is completely modern in her outlook. Virat notices her in a boxing match and falls for her instantly. He asks his family to talk to Saiba's family for a wedding, but this time Saiba refuses as she was not amused by Virat's refusal. Virat continues to pursue her.

Then one day Saiba attends the wedding of her best friend who has decided to marry a bald guy. Saiba wants to know why she had posters of movie stars in her room & she married a bald guy. The friend explains that guys who are intelligent and good looking are rare. Saiba reconsiders Virat & proposes to him. Virat accepts.

One day, while travelling in a bus with his friend, Sub-Inspector Mukund "Makhiya" Deshmukh, Virat, while chasing a man who he regards with suspicion when he tries to flee the scene of a check going on after a passenger reports his wallet as stolen, witnesses a bomb explosion killing innocent people. Virat manages to capture the man Ajmal Lateef who planted the bomb, but he escapes from the hospital with the help of a police officer. Virat kidnaps the terrorist again and also forces corrupt police officer Ashok Gaikwad (Gireesh Sahedev) to commit suicide by threatening to expose his role in the terrorist's escape.

He later discovers while examining contents in Ajmal's bag that a terrorist group has planned serial blasts in Mumbai to be executed in a couple of days with the help of 12 sleeper agents, including Ajmal himself. Virat remembers that on the day when the bombs are going to be planted, there is a wedding where his team member Joel is tying the knot, and all his Army officer friends are going to assemble. Virat drugs the terrorist & loosens his binds so as to give the impression that he is unsupervised & can escape. When the terrorist escapes Virat's apartment, he is followed by Virat and his fellow Army officers and Mukund. Virat manages to track these bombers and kills them before they could trigger the bombs. Virat takes the mobile phone of one of the terrorists.

The leader of these sleeper cells takes help of local corrupt police officers to investigate that all attackers were in suits. He takes a list of all functions in Mumbai on the said date that had suits as a dress norm. Before trailing the terrorists, Virat and his friends had attended a colleagues wedding in suits & that's how the leader is able to track them.

When the leader of these sleeper cells (Freddy Daruwala), whose brother, Afsar Ali (Prayas Mann), was also one of the sleeper bombers, finds out about the team of officers involved in the failure of the terrorist attack, he goes to Joel's (Randheer Rai) house and kills his family and finds an album which has photos of team officers.

The leader of the sleeper cells begins to target their families by kidnapping a female close to them. When Virat realizes the plan, he substitutes one of the girls to be kidnapped, with his younger sister Preeti (Cherry Mardia). Using his pet dog Rocky and his sister's Dupatta, he manages to reach the terrorist's hideout. He eliminates all the terrorists and rescues all the victims including his sister, who was about to be killed after Virat's bluff was exposed. The terrorists realized that one of the persons kidnapped was not their intended victim & then figure out that Virat has substituted her sister for one the intended kidnapping victim. Virat also captures Asif Ali (Dipendra Sharma), who was the leader of the group but later kills him on realizing that Asif is just the second-in-command of the sleeper cell.

When this attack fails, the terrorist leader decides to target Virat himself. He kills Kapil, one of the army officers and forces Virat to surrender. Virat decides to sacrifice his life and plans a suicide attack by instructing Mukund (Sumeet Raghavan) and his fellow officers to follow him via a tracking chip inserted in his arm and plant a bomb at the terrorist's hideout.

Virat then drives to a port in various cars, as told by the leader and ends up on a ship full of terrorists. To his surprise, Virat finds out that the cars he was asked to drive had bombs in them, which will frame him and his team as terrorists and also boost their plans to recruit sleeper cells in Indian Army with the help of Joint Defense Secretary of India - Mr. Alvin D'Souza (Zakir Hussain), who is also a member of this terrorist group. The leader of the sleeper plans to expose Virat as a terrorist & give the credit to Alvin, which will lead to his promotion & create a conduit for introduction of sleeper cells in the Army.

Meanwhile, Joel, who was in touch with Mukund as instructed by Virat, plants a bomb at the base of the ship. By this time, Virat realizes he must get out alive, but during the one-on-one fight with the leader of the sleeper cells, his shoulder is dislocated. However, he is able to pop it back into place and escapes with the sleeper cell's leader, holding him alive at gunpoint, on a boat before the ship explodes, after the ship explodes, Virat shoots down the leader of the sleeper cells. Virat forces Alvin D'Souza to commit suicide and later returning to guard the border along with his team.
