Quirky Dialoges and Fantastic actions scenes- Lacks the depth and execution

Tigmanshu Dhulia started it with 'Haasil' on the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh dirty politics. "Haasil" explored the rural India, leaving the chiffon cinema aside; it showed that that there is real and earthy world beyond the picturesque imageries. He has been consistently trying to give us a taste of unsophisticated and practical realm.

Tigmanshu's first masala film 'Bullett Raja' have same flavor but the effort is mediocre here, mainly due to abrupt editing, loose screenplay and forced songs sequences.

We again witness earthy, rugged and edgy portions which are far from urban and looked truly rural.

"Bullett Raja" is about of two youngsters, Raja Mishra (Saif Ali Khan) and Rudra Tripathi (Jimmy Shergil) who engulfed themselves in the lands of dirty politics of Uttar Pradesh. They rise like heroes and on the flip side it deteriorates they tranquil lives.

Story is merely a revenge drama, but, the writing doesn't hold as the movie progresses. The screenplay is abrupt and flat. The best bit are the action sequences, it separates from the contemporary movies where we can see everything flying with no role of gravity. The action scenes looked really authentic with bullet firing in every 5 minutes. The love track was rushed and abrupt. The other thing which works here are the edgy and fabulous dialogs as always. It has now become the trademark of Dhulia. The climax is predictable; you will probably understand every nuance which the writer tried to reveal at the very end.

The film consists a good start cast (mostly Dhulia's favorite) and peculiar dialogs. Music by Sajid-Wajid is really forgettable as songs do not add anything.

Saif Ali Khan does a wonderful act here, carrying the entire film. He character is very well written. Jimmy Sheirgill is always good and does a fabulous job here. Sonakshi Sinha is common in all the movies now a days and she does the same thing, once again.

Bullett Raja delivers only in parts. The arena was right but it lacked the execution and writing for other actors was not coherent.

An Ordinary Fare!

Tigmanshu Dhulia's 'Bullett Raja' is An Ordinary Fare, that works only till it lasts. Though engaging in parts & superbly acted, this gangster-flick lacks sharp writing. One Expected More!

'Bullett Raja' Synopsis: A common man who transforms into a gangster revolts against the very system he once obediently followed by declaring war on the police, the government, and the industrialists.

'Bullett Raja' begins nicely & holds its momentum efficiently up-to interval. The second-hour is unconvincing, with most sequences lacking pace or sharpness. Even the twist in the climax isn't smart, but rather predictable. The Screenplay has merit in its first-hour, which is pretty interesting, but the second-hour disheartens. Tigmanshu Dhulia's Direction is passable. Cinematography, Editing & Art Design are adequate. Music by Sajid-Wajid is foot-tapping. Action-Sequences are terrific.

Performance-Wise: Saif Ali Khan excels as Raja. He suits the part & stands out with a tough performance. Sonakshi Sinha is nicely restrained in a brief role. Jimmy Shergill is excellent. His on-screen chemistry with Saif is delightful. Vidyut Jamwal is super in a cameo. This dude can do some kick-ass action for real! Gulshan Grover & Ravi Kishan are fabulous. Chunky Pandey is very impressive. Raj Babbar is flawless. Vishwajeet Pradhan is good. Vipin Sharma scores, as well.

On the whole, 'Bullett Raja' offers mild entertainment.

I would like to keep it short... Remove all the songs.Of course, not the one starring Mahi Gill. The movie could have been shorter. Seriously after interval I had no motivation to see the other half. It was quite predictable Raja Mishra would have his revenge in the second half and the movie shall end .But I did not quit and finally I was presented with a nice ending. A good thought has been given into the movie and has been seasoned with quite a masala. I would say on a Saturday when you are exhausted after working for last 5 days just go and watch the movie. The star cast has been chosen nicely and I totally appreciate the acting of Saif,Jimmy,Raj Babbar,Gulshan Grover....

With only the climax decorating itself as a savior, Tigmanshu Dhulia disappoints, big time. With accordance to what his movies have been flaunting lately, Bullett Raja lies nowhere near and when even the cast cannot help the film, it can be only best described as "below average."

Starting off with an instant bonhomie between Saif Ali Khan & Jimmy Sheirgill, the plot is about a duo fighting for politicos. Then they outmatch everybody in their line of work and eventually try to salvage their existence when adversaries kick in. What the writers have tried to do here is take up an underworld topic which has been sampled hundreds of times before, and mix it up with glam & emotions and send it out in a twisty plot. The output? Nothing much entertaining, but not boring either.

The performances are good and the casting, thank heavens, apt for an action film, but use of unnecessary songs and dialogs which feel like they were created out of insomnia just won't work anymore. It is high time I ask the question to the makers that how long should I bear this stupidity and not expect something new & fresh?

Yes, this film goes out of bullets even before the intermission and just so to remind who the film is by, we have a wonderful climax worth watching. But, then again, there is nothing new. For crying out loud, Bullett Raja is an utter disappointment by the man who can do much, much better. (What was Vidhyut Jamwwal doing here?)

BOTTOM LINE: A bullet-infested drama with a shallow plot under the disguise of heavy action. Not recommended! Wait for DTH and check out the climax, per se.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Compilation of scenes according to actor's caliber not for the requirement of film

Dir. Mr. Tingmanshu Dhulia has taken a confused take on this political drama. This is not a film but a project, whether first you decide actors, then some action scenes, some love scenes and a political backdrop to create drama. Eventually no story comes as outcome. Screenplay is predicative besides few scenes. Dialogues by Director himself is very good. Even the opening dialogue of film is very impressive. Film looses logic at most of the places. If, a person thought about another to kill in his home only and the other person has arrived then what is the need to create childish drama, where he eventually kills him through blast? Because another person has few goons with him, so the blast was required and five minutes unnecessary screen time!!? Love between the lead pair is not well established. An I.A.S rank of officer thinks with his body muscles rather than his brain muscles!? He prefers to combat rather than plan, because this actor is good at fight!!! There are lots of things who indicate that role was considered according to actors caliber rather than the flow and requirement of film. A hard core villain pretends to become Radha and Police believe!!! Performance wise Saif Ali Khan is very good. Sonakshi Sinha has not very much scope but she is good. Raj Babber, Gulshan Grover, Jimmy Shergill, Sharat Saxena , Vipin Sharma are OK. Vidyut Jamwal is very good at stunt but not that much good at act. Ravi Kishan is fine. Music is also very average.

'Bullet Raja' a compilation of unnecessary action sequences, random twists and meaningless romance.

Before going for Bullet Raja you think of movies like Haasil and Paan Singh Tomar (Two of Dir Tingmanshu Dhulia's brilliant films), but just 5 minutes into the film I knew this is some kind of a joke. Basically there's no plot, just random twists and meaningless action. Some scenes are so random that it'll make you think that the last scene before this is from the same movie ? Saif-Ali Khan tries really hard to look rough and tough but fails miserably, Sonakshi Sinha's character lacks depth, Jimmy Shergil is wasted just like Vidut Jamwal is. Screenplay is more of a joke, there are some emotional scenes in which you'll burst out laughing. Songs are pathetic and appear in all the wrong situations. Dialogues are as old as hills.

My opinion: Rather go out drinking than watching this trash!

Dosti aur Revenge ka Raja

Bullett Raja is a gangster/political drama based in UP. The film is very enjoyable, though the film may seem like a regular masala flick, Tigmanushu Dhulia makes sure the film has his flavor and his sensibilities seen in earlier films like SBAG and Paan Singh Tomar. While the first half of the film shows a Jai Veer type of camaraderie between Saif and Jimmy, its shows there rise as gangsters. The second half becomes a revenge drama .

The films main plot is about Raja and Rudra. Raja and Rudra both are forced to become gangster after they have no option. Raja after fleding some people who were after him because of a small dispute, crashes a wedding that Rudra was at,at the wedding they become friends. At the same wedding Rudra's uncle who is a gangster gets attacked by his trusted man Lallan Singh who wants to take over his business. In this fight however Raja and Rundra defend his uncle, and end up getting in some unwanted mess. They both get attacked by the Lallan Singh after, and they don't wanna become gangsters so they don't retaliate,so for protection they go to jail. While in jail Rudra's uncle gets killed and both Raja and Rundra take revenge and become gangsters. They are then supported by opposition leader Ramabau Shukla. They take place of former head gangster of UP Sumer Yadav, after they kill a political leader he couldn't. They are now UP''s biggest gangsters. However they make a mistake. While at a meeting after being insulted by UP's biggest business man Mr. Bajaj they kidnap him for money to make him learn a lesson, Bajaj mad with them because of the Kidnapping, hires Sumer Yadav and kills Rudra. Does Raja take revenge, does Raja survive Baja's wrath is what forms the main plot.

Acting wise Saif Ali Khan is first rate, he fits in to character so well and gives a mature performance. Jimmy Shergill also matches up to Saif in every scene and gives a great performance. Sonakshi Sinha though maybe not needed in the film does good in her role and adds glamor. Other notable acts are of Raj Babbar, Gulshan Grover, and Vidyut Jamwal they all perform well.

Dir Tigmunsha Dhuila does a good job, though not his best work the film is highly enjoyable and entertaining. The music is very average. The film though good has minuses, the songs, the weak climax and twist at the end play spoil sport. The story also is not novel, and a film like this did not need a heroine.

However minuses withstanding the films is good. Those who like gangster films or political drama's will enjoy Bullet Raja. The film deserves at least one watch for the good action and Saif and Jimmy's performance 3.5/5*

With only a few engaging moments in the first half, this is the weakest film from the director unexpectedly.

BR begins on a very uninspiring note unlike director's previous films and when one gets to see an item song within the first 10 minutes only all of a sudden, it becomes pretty clear that this has not been made as per the exact vision of the person behind films like HAASIL, CHARAS, SHAGIRD and PAAN SINGH TOMAR. Yes, BULLETT RAJA too has got a part of that raw, unforgiving and realistic Tigmanshu feel in its initial moments using the local dialect and settings. But an all predictable screenplay & sloppy editing actually plays the main spoilt sport here wherein things keep happening too easily for the main lead and therefore their journey of becoming 'Political Commandos" from the common man largely remains less impressive and unconvincing. Still the film does have some irregular engaging moments arising out of its well written enjoyable dialogues in the first half, along with few poor songs.

But once many of its notable characters vanish altogether as per the story progression, it all becomes quite dull and the film falls drastically post intermission having nothing new to serve other than the usual revenge drama. To save it from sinking further, the writers bring in a fresh character of Vidyut Jammwal in the last 40 minutes of the film playing the tough inspector with some new twists and turns. But the move fails to provide any major lift and it all ends with an open climax as we have already seen several times before in the recent times.

In few words, the director who is known for coming up with some fresh films following his own unique way of execution surprisingly chooses a very poor story idea for his first mainstream project made with a big name. Plus throughout the film his famous touch is visible only in some characters in the beginning or in few scenes later on with some notable dialogues well rendered by the supporting cast. Further a few insertions are incorporated in a quite unintelligent way (unlike a Dhulia film), like the use of Skype in a confidential meeting straight connecting to the jail, the extreme facilities enjoyed by the power broker within the jail premises and particularly the dialogue mentioning Rani Laxmi Bai in the hotel room (What was it really??).

Moreover the intense emotional feel, visible in the director's previous films is completely missing in this and the viewers never feel connected to the ongoing affair between the lead pair not even once. Now whether this was a result of the director's sincere attempt to enter the commercial zone for the first time or the outcome of some external interference in his directorial vision cannot be said. But whatever the reason might be, the truth remains that this happens to be the weakest film of Tigmanshu Dhulia till date unarguably. Apart from its feeble story plot, the other major disappointment of BULLETT RAJA is its poor soundtrack and over use of songs unnecessarily. The background score too sounds both good and average at different places following an uneven path and cinematography could have made a stronger impact with a better editing. Promoted as an action film, the fight sequences do have a realistic feel but the action actually could really have been the key player here with Vidyut coming in earlier since he is the best one to display the art specifically.

Regarding its performances, the film is solely made for Saif alone and he tries hard to fit into the character doing all the home work. Yet, I found a lot missing in his honest portrayal of Raja Misra in terms of energy and that rustic feel, so couldn't relate to his on screen character frankly. On the other side, Jimmy Sheirgill once again displays his best in a Tigmanshu Dhulia project and holds the film strongly till he is there on the screen forming a fine team with Saif. Here I must add that the actor is a completely different person (arrogant and with a lot of attitude) when it comes to Punjabi films in particular. And Jimmy really needs to see into this difference of attitude at the earliest.

Playing the female lead, I wonder how on earth Sonakshi manages to act and enjoy the same kind of performance in almost every film of hers in a repetitive mode (except LOOTERA). Perhaps she is more interested in only quantity and not quality. Gulshan Grover & Raj Babbar are fine as usual but both Vipin Sharma and Shart Saxena leave a solid impact in their short roles. Chunky Pandey and Mahile Gill are there for only few scenes in the beginning. However to say the truth, BULLET RAJA would have been an entirely different film altogether with Vidyut Jammwal and Ravi Kissen having more lengthy roles in the script. Particularly Ravi Kissen whose highly interesting character of a cross-dressing man, remains wasted without given much to do.

Ending on a sour note, BULLETT RAJA doesn't have that thrill, excitement, freshness and honesty associated with the films made by one of the most promising director of our times, Tigmanshu Dhulia. Perhaps this is the cost a visionary director has to pay while working with big production houses and STARS following their specific instructions. So assuming that the makers would learn from their mistake made, I hope Tigmanshu returns back to his own school of film-making soon following his inner urge and gives us another gem in the future, taking BULLETT RAJA out of his system at the earliest.

Bullett Raja holds your attention and Saif shines as Raja Mishra

Tigmanshu Dhulia is back with a gripping story-line and crisp dialogs that hold your attention throughout the movie.Shots from all famous places in and around Lucknow...from Imambara,Hazratganj,Residency,Airport,High Court to Malihabad and Barabanki jail have been captured. Jimmy Sheirgill is excellent and Saif shines as Raja Mishra.They both give performances worthy of giving them nomination in next year's award functions. Wherein all the actors from Raj Babbar to Gulshan Grover suit in their respective roles, however Mahi Gill looks vulgar and Vidyut Jamwal, with a wooden face has nothing more to showcase except few circus stunts. A special mention for the peppy number Tamanche Pe Disco. You will love the movie for its desi dialects (provided you understand their meaning) and for Saif Ali Khan. Go For It.

India's spaghetti western... but not valid for our times

This is just a movie for Indians who wish to see things that are practically condemned these days around the world. Yes, the classic features and music and dance performances in a "spaghetti western" as other user wrote, but bullets come and go... and overreacting into violence on behalf of the gods... and all the world thinking the fundamentalism violence is exclusive from Muslims.

I saw the promotion done by interviews to the cast and particularly to Saif Khan, when I was living in India. He said he will use real weapons... honestly, you have to be very stupid, and risking the fact that manipulating real guns for films is more expensive and dangerous. But it's for the marketing, and if you believe it, and like it, well, that's the kind of human being you are. Story is entertaining, while the character Raja deals with his new enemies in life and protects damsels in perish.

If you love Indian culture and you still swallow that new age religious manipulated stuff of the spirituality in India, don't watch this movie, because is the reflection of the ideal "macho" Indian version. Which the whole opposite of those fantasies sold by the tourism industry.

Our own Sphagetti Western

In the late 60's Italian Director Sergio Leone made movies featuring Clint Eastwood which were referred to as Spaghetti Westerns, since they were kind of cowboy flicks made in Italy. Now years later, We have Tigmanshu Dhulia hitting base with a movie titled BULLET RAJA which can vye for the same honor-references are made in the film to Sholay-which also successfully tried the same genre.

The opening shootout sequence is worth watching, reminding you of the Paul Newman starrer "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Saif Ali Khan and Jimmy Shergill involved in a back to back gunfight (literally), you have Saif shooting and Jimmy taking time to reload-which gives the audience a taste of what is to come.

What can you say about a movie which has two major action sequences in the first half an hour of the movie, if you are an action lover-this movie is for you.

Saif and Jimmy become best of pals when the former saves the latter's family from a slaughter led by Chunkey Pandey. Situations force Saif and Jimmy to become political commandos executing opposite party members in style. They are hire for guns to Raj Babar a political leader. A sudden event resulting in a kidnapping makes things sour between the heroes and their master. An event towards the break, makes Saif a kind of a fugitive.

The shootouts are executed in style and yes there is tongue in cheek humor before Saif fires a fatal shot. Saif is brilliant in the title role, but it is Jimmy Shergill who steals the show with his brilliant performance. Sonakshi Sinha is wasted as Saif's live-in girl friend, trust me, even if the character was not included, it would not have made much difference to the movie's plot.

Mahi Gill manages to raise the heat with her sizzling item song in the opening sequence.

Watch the movie if you are an action buff and are kind of tired of all those mushy Bollywood romances

Disappointing Affair !!

Some films don't work in spite of a good director and good star cast. Bullet Raja is a perfect case of the above.

Dhulia has directed some fine movies like Haasil, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster and Paan Singh Tomar but here he gets it all wrong. Dhulia as a writer fails here miserably. The story has nothing new to offer. Its starts with an unemployed youth who is forced to enter the world of crime and politics and ends up as a revenge drama.

The story set in the UP heartland could've been easily set in Mumbai or Delhi. Dhulia tries to desperately play the cast card with the protangonist being a Brahmin by caste and showcasing the state of Brahmins in UP but that also doesn't work after one point. Worse, he bumps off one of the main characters in the film in the middle to make it into a revenge drama. And from here the story comes crashing down.

Wht Dhulia fails to see that the Saif's character Raja and Shergill's Character have gr8 chemistry and this could have gr8 film if he would have focused on both the male leads.

Saif is a fine actor and he's the only reason I watched this film till the end. He gets into the character and spots some gr8 lines in the 1st half. Check out the scene in the plane while take off. Some other actor and I would have changed the channel. However, he needs good scripts.

Dhulia's regular Shergill is wasted. He shares some gr8 chemistry with Saif. So is Jamwal, Grover and Ravi Kishen. And I've no words to describe Sonakshi's character. She plays an aspiring actress who starts to live the two gangsters.

Overall a very disappointing affair !!

It is like bullet without gun

was not really expecting much about the story. because it is a spicy movie. but the screenplay should have been much better.. was expecting more good action scene.... but this one not up to point though there is few good action scene. the trailer of the movie let us hope that there will be some very good gun and bullet action, specially by SAIF ALI khan . casting and acting was good. Saif Ali Khan & Jimmy Sheirgill both acted well. Sonakshi Sinha was not really spotlighted on this movie, she has little scope to show her acting capability, though she was not bad in her appearance on screen.

neither boring nor entertaining. overall disappointment. . , .

Tigmanshu did not make justice to his earlier flicks

I am very much fan of Tigmanshu. I can watch his earlier movies Haasil, Pan Singh Tomar, Shagird, Saheb Biwi and Gangster any time any where. In that sense he has increased expectation from him. But Bullet raja really made an disappointment. Tigmanshu you are really lowering your status. I heard that Tigmanshu and Anurag Kashyap are very good friends. you both have made fantastic movies earlier. Please keep the same rhythm. you both are Gem of bollywood. Bullet Raja was total flop, very mediocre story, very mediocre direction moreover you could not add that special UP style - Lakhnowee style that was seen in your earlier movies. and please please do not add any song sequences those are really B**sh**t. we have lot of expectations from you and please keep up the expectations.

Tigmanshu trying to make mainstream cinema and falters

There are many times when offbeat filmmakers try to make commercial films and make mismash.Madhur did it before in AAN Men At Work, Govind Nihalini in Thakshak. Tigmanshu's debut Haasil was promoted as a romantic film but was a political film which got critical acclaim and made Irrfan a famous name. Then it was followed by some bad efforts like Charas, His recent film Shagird too didn't work nor got critical acclaim, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Part 1 and 2 both got critical acclaim and worked well. Bullet Raja marks the first time that Tigmanshu is working with Saif,Sonakshi.When the film was announced I was sure Tigmanshu will make a great film with Saif who proved his talent in offbeat films more like Omkara, Being Cyrus.etc However it seems Tigmanshu has got carried away by the recent south style diktats and made his film to suit the audiences taste. The promo had Saif saying a longdrawn line about Brahmin roota to........... The film again is set in UP where Tigmanshu belongs, it starts off well and keeps your attention till the love angle wobbles in and spoils the part also the mumbai part and Tamanche Pe Disco doesn't blend well. The film gets too predictable and stereotypical and last twist seems like Tigmanshu trying to copy Abbas Mustan style.

Direction by Tigmanshu is good in parts but letdown overall Music by Sajid Wajid who are regular in Salman land is out of place, though Saamne Hai Savera is good, rest songs are ordinary The placements also are odd

Saif Ali Khan tries hard to get into the character and does his part well as usual but sadly the role isn't that great or memorable. Sonakshi Sinha continues her nautanki she has been doing since debut except in Lootera, she is getting typecast and boring. Jimmy Shergill is superb sadly his role ends up soon but he is simply superb as always in Tigmanshu's films. Vidyut Jamwal has a cameo and is superb, he has choreographed the action scenes involving him himself too and is good Raj Babbar is good, Gulshan Grover has a brief role and is okay, Ravi Kissen is alright, Vipin Sharma who is a regular in such films and roles is good too, Chunky Pandey is okay in a brief role Vishwajeet Pradhan and sharat Saxena are okay too

Average movie

Saw the movie today . it was an average movie with predictable storyline. Saif's friend jimmy dies before the interval and it was too predictable that he is going to have revenge. i was expecting a more better drama with full of twists but there was nothing as such. it turns out to be the same masala movie which we see every week. the concept was very old fashioned (hero never dies) . vidyut jamwal character was too short. they could have made a better story to show the rivalry between a good cop vs the saif gang with full of twist and suspense. The only good thing in this movie was that saif acted very well. it kept me entertaining till the end. sonakshi sinha was not given any important role. her character was dull. one time watch movie.

Good Movie

The movie was beautifully written and it contains everything you can expect from a Bollywood gangster movie (especially gangsters in Uttar Pradesh). Gangs in north India are exactly like these and the language used is same too. Its a good thing that they did not use much Bollywood Masala and focused on the story. Its a shame people are reviewing this as bad movie and clapping their hands off watching movies like Dabangg. Saif Ali Khan acted brilliantly and Jimmy Shergil too. Sonakshi Sinha did not have much too show on-screen. This was not a one-man movie and every actor had something to do with their roles. And everyone done justice with their role. Overall this is 7/10.

Bullett will suit more to Sonakshi than Saif..Wow!!!

Frankly it is not Tigmanshu Dhulia's movie.Either its dialogue or story or direction it is not Tigmanshu Dhulia's movie.

All have acted well except Rajjaa and Sonakshi.Why Sonakshi and if Sonakshi then she should have bullett.

Casting-This time protagonists are pathetic Dhulia sir.You have better actors for these subjects sir.But solid set of antagonist.watch for this.

Story-This is definitely not conscious work from Dhulia sir.

Action-Vidyut Jamwal holds the thumb.

Dialogue-Saif does not suit for your dialogue sir.

Acting-Raj Babbar,Ravi Kishan,Gulshan Grover,Vidyut Jamwal,Jimmy Shergill,Vipin Sharma are very good.especially Ravi Kishan and his dialogue.

Music-Good

Cinematography-good

Editing-good

Watch this movie if you do not have other good option.

Good entertainer with not so good climax

This is a movie that delivers action, entertainment, masala, jay-veeru type friendship, etc. One thing good was that script is not brainless, unlike the trend in bollywood these days. It is like watching Saheb biwi gangster topped with action of dabangg. I felt it was disappointing in the second half. Sonakshi Sinha is yet to take a serious role. It is the same role she performs every time. Ravi Kishan wasn't used much either. Some witty dialogues in the movie kept the audience entertained. Saif and Jimmy lived up to the expectations. The climax was similar to Race films i.e. a twist at the end. Overall, I felt it could have been better though its a one time watch. My rating: 6.5/10

Rename the to 'Bullett Rubbish'

I don't want to waste too much time writing this review so I'll keep it short and sweet - It's all guns and no brains! The film has a story line, but a weak one and relies on guns in practically every scene! Even Sonakhsi is holding one!!

Saif Ali Khan needs to do something different. He is a good actor and can do far better than these roles. Jimmy Shergill is a very underrated actor but does a fine job throughout his role. His friendship with Saif in the film is certainly the highlight of the film. Sonakshi is boring and her role is a typical Sonakshi role. She needs to challenge herself with more roles like Lootera!

Supporting cast like Sharat Saxena, Vidyut Jamwal and Gulshan Grover are all decent. The music of the film is OK at best with only Saamne Hai Savera really worth listening to.

Overall a below average film which you should certainly not watch twice, but consider whether it's worth even watching once!

Now Thats The Best Way To Make A Masala Movie

Bullet Raja - Tigmansu Dhulia is one of the best director of Bollywood who make movies with political background in it ,,,, i have seen all of his movies(Haasil , Charas , Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster - both parts , Paan Singh Tomar and Shagird)and i have like each movie of him except Shagird which one is really bad...... Bullet raja is his first all in all commercial movie ,,,, and he succeeded extremely well in it....

From close to real action sequence,,,,perfect balance between humor and seriousness,,,,no product endorsement(this has become a compliment now),,not much songs in the movie,,less then 2 and a half hour running time,,,,nice acting by lead actors(jimmy specially has been awesome),,some political twist(signature moves of Tigmansu),,to little shocking climax etc every thing is really fine..... The only two bad things for me in the movie are the song 'Satake Maar'(a really bad song),,,,and an emotional sequence which could have been better with tears but Saif just shouted without any tears when a close one of him is killed by his enemy...... The political twists are really interesting,,,,which look intelligent yet not too difficult to understand because the Masala audience doesn't want much to explore there mind while watching movies....(nice move Dulia Sir)..... As i side the action sequence are too close too real,,,,there are no anti gravity action sequences like Singham , Dabangg or Rowdy Rathod.... About songs,,,,there are not much are in the movie,,,yes the timing of Tamanche Pe Disco and Samne Hei Savera break the pace but u wouldn't mind them as they are pasteurized really well,,,,about the item song don't touch my body - its comes in the very beginning of the movie,,,,so it doesn't break the pace at all.... The dialogs have been really good,,,,written by Dhulia- two of my favorite are -'Brahman Jab Bhuka To Shudama , Samjha To Chanakya Aur Rutha to Ravan' and 'Bhai Maraa Hei Hamara , Badal Lena Parampara Hei , Koi Corporate Deal Nahi Jo Agli Baar Adjust Kar Lenge'..........The dialogs are earthy,,,,rustic yet memorable....I wanna specially mention something that the movie is too clean in respect of language ,,, its totally clean,,,,not a single word of profanity has been used....... As per acting,,,,Saif does his bit with right humor and seriousness,,,,and the character should not be compared to Langda Tyagi,,,,because Raja Mishra is totally different character,,,,I have like Sonakshi only single time ,,, thats in Lootera,,, but her character in this movie is better than other Masala Flicks,,,,Raj Babbar was OK as the politician,,,,Vidyut was awesome in his stunts and tough police officer character,,,,but i would have liked him more in the movie....Ravi Kisan's character was introduced really well in the movie but didn't explored latter,,,,but at last its Jimmy Shergil who steel the show,,,,he is definitely one of the most favorite actor of Dhulia and he never disappoint..... Bullet Raja is not just a Gang War movie,,,,but its a tale of two friends whose life take turn due to political environment of UP..... Yes this cant beat The Lunchbox , Bhaag Mikha Bhaag and Madaras Cafe but Definitely this movie gonna get nomination fir best movie of the year..... Raised the Temperature, But Couldn't Explode

Before watching Bullett Raja I couldn't stop myself from running a Tighmanshu Dhulia movie marathon and build the mood for what I would watch on the big screen last Friday. It payed off and the movie didn't disappoint.

The plot builds up with the chance encounter between Raja Mishra & Rudra Tripathi, played by Saif & Jimmy Shergil respectively, which lays the foundation to a partnership that will transform them from being common to men of power and local heroes. Together Raja & Rudra take on the nexus of politicians and businessmen in UP, creating a havoc in their system and find themselves on their hit list.

Crisp dialogues and smartly written characters keep us hooked to the story. It is the camaraderie between Raja & Rudra that is to look out for. Our very own Butch & Sundance if I must say. Also there are identifiable instances from real life incidences which are subtly infused to the script - a hit man dressed up as a woman and pretends to be crazy to escape an arrest.

It is post the interval the script starts to lose steam. There are scenes which feel like fillers and completely unnecessary. There is no evidence of Sonakshi Sinha's role doing any justice to her screen time. Vidyut Jamwal plays his character with grit and a smirk making the character's input interesting, but introducing him single handily taking out an entire crew of chambal dacoits (??) - c'mon!

"Aap humein support karo, hum bisphot kar denge". Didn't feel it exploding but Bullett Raja has enough heat to keep us warm and break thaw with other screenings this winter.

a roller-coaster ride of fun,friendship,politics,love and revenge

director Tigmanshu Dhulia attempt at a commercial Masala flick is quite great considering the gravity defying flicks that we see, the difference is that it has a story to keep a check on it, it has a typical and usual Hindi movie flick that who have seen but with a slight different view, saif ali khann's attempt at raja mishra is commendable and it should not be compared to his langda tyagi act which was a masterclass, jimmy Shergill is brilliant in his stay and others chip in good as well, sonakshi is looking nice for a change with no bashing dialoges.. music could have been better with some songs that don't need to be put in the place. but overall with the pace and the fiery dialoges it will keep u guessing..!!

Go on, bite this bullet!

It felt as if Tigamanshu Dhulia on the sets of Saheb, Biwi, Gangster Returns suddenly decided that he had enough of Machiavellian twists and unlimited adultery. And that it was time to take a break from nuanced, heavy duty fare and make a good, old fashioned mas-ala action movie. And even in this genre Dhulia shows how it is done, folks- Bullet Raja easily takes my vote as the Hindi action extravaganza of the year.

Bullet Raja has 75% of the lead star cast (Jimmy Shergill, Raj Babbar, Mahie Gill), 100% of the setting (the heartland of India, Uttar Pradesh), and about 90% of the characters (twisted, scheming politicians, trigger happy gangsters, passionate lovers) of Saheb, Biwi and Gangster Returns. Central to the story is the bromance between Rudra (Shergill) and Raja (Saif), both as different from each other like Rahul and Sourav were, but mighty effective together as only Rahul and Sourav were.

Raja is the perennially angry Raavan, who is never one to shy away from a fight. He is essentially Agent Vinod in a rustic environment, the script only requires that he keeps the scowl throughout, but occasionally he lets the court jester in him take over. Shergill is the methodical Rudra, and the movie is about how the two of them reluctantly become feared gangsters, or as it is euphemistically put- political commandos. Like Jai and Veeru, it is very much an ode to friendship and loyalty. In between Raja does get time to romance a hefty Sonakshi Sinha, and put bullet holes in almost anything that moves against him.

While it might be just another action movie, Tigamanshu Dhulia has ensured that it carries his stamp of quality all over. The production design is authentic, and never does any scene feel out of place, even the diction in the Bengali sequences is bullseye. The dialogs are exceptionally funny full on desi, and he does an excellent job in portraying the politician-industry nexus with minimal effort. Of special note are the action sequences- they do not feel gravity defying, artificial and wire driven, there is a certain gritty beauty to them. And to counter a raging bull like Raja, Vidyut Jamval's special appearance was a masterstroke- he brings so much of realism to his stunt-work. Raj Babbar's fatherly politician, Vipin Sharma's incarcerated fixer who skypes out of jail, Gulshan Grover's lecherous industrialist, and Ravi Kishan's drag king hit-man are other stupendous characters.

Agreed the songs are mostly an interference, Sonakshi Sinha does her regular dumb girl act here too, and the film could have been a bit shorter. Bullet Raja is that rare Dhulia film that is not destined for any awards, but when it comes to enjoyment and entertainment this year, it is right up there. Do not look at ratings, take a leap of faith, bite this bullet- 8/10

High Octane Entertainment Especially For Action Fans

Even though I've liked all of Tigmanshu Dhulia's prior efforts, in all truthfulness, this is his only other film that I've really loved besides "Paan Singh Tomar". An out-an-out action-comedy with a rustic aura that keeps you wholesomely entertained from start to finish. Saif, Jimmy, & Vidyut are collectively rocking. The direction is snazzy, the plot is decent enough for this genre, the action is raw, the punches hit hard, the kicks look stylish, the bullets fly in all direction, the chase scenes are acrobatic, and the emphatic one-liners keep coming.

Dhulia has made a pure guys film that is sure to enthrall fans of this genre, while also offering something in terms of an interesting narrative to neutral fans of action movies or the more loyal fans of the director's staple hard-hitting dramas. This time Dhulia decided on a slight detour from his conventional mold, and boy, did it pay rich dividends. "Bullett Raja" is a pure blast of machismo and unadulterated fun, along with immense repeat value.
