Comically bad
tlharrison-5954620 January 2023
This movie was a ride! I enjoyed it in all of its ridiculousness. Do not be mistaken though, this is hardly a thriller-- or a mystery. The twists, turns, and offensive/dated tropes are all completely predictable. No real surprises here. Just a low budget Tubi movie. If you enjoy those, then you'll enjoy this. Bad acting, horrible writing, use of the same props in different scenes, everyone addressing the star of the movie as "Ms.", despite the fact that she is a doctor. Seriously, why was no one addressing her as a doctor? The age difference between the two stars was apparently supposed to be a pretty big gap, though they are clearly close in age.

Copy Cat
julielovesjesus-302849 February 2023
All this movie is a copycat movie of the 2019 movie The Assistant with white people. There are no white people as characters in this movie by the way. In the " white" version black people are characters but they don't do the same in black movies but of course nobody says anything about it for fear about being seen as racist. Why is the minority trying to rule over the majority. I mean everything is exactly the same as the other movie except the characters are different. I mean no originally at all!!! This is weird that it follows the movie straight to the letter. And these movies are only a couple of years apart.

Terrible

Warning: Spoilers
Terrible terrible terrible script.

The actors are good tho, the cinematography is great, but the plot? Jesus. Made me want to kill myself.

...which is disappointing because I thought it had a really great start, but it just kept getting worse after the interviews began. The dialogue is so ordinary, nothing out of the box, nothing inspiring, I didn't understand the point of the main character's best friend or her back story. Why did we need to know that she doesn't work and is sustained by family wealth? And the detail about her uncle's whatever who is a cop? Because I'd expect that the cop would somehow come to rescue the doctor. Also, for nearly half the movie, her doctor duties don't feature?

Good movie

I did not have high hopes but the last movie I watched from Stokes "The best friend" was good too. Erica Mena did great and I would love to see more of her acting, I enjoyed it. Hopefully I get to see more of her. The plot and story line was great, it was really suspenseful and kept me hooked. Alot of it was predictable after the first 45 minutes. Overall I thought it was a good movie with great actors. It did seem rushed when it came to show the assistant family history. I wished it detailed more on her past since it was really about her. Lastly the movie was good but the ending not so much. Would've love to see how Shaun ended up. The ending blah.

A film that doubles as a suspenseful thriller and mental health examination.
Matthew198425 February 2024
The Assistant was a dark and suspenseful thriller that was well cast, well written, and well directed. Don't listen to these negative reviews on here, see this movie for YOURSELF like I did.

Parker McKenna Posey (Annie) was excellent as this beautiful, creepy, and multiple personalities having assistant at a woman's/baby care clinic. I hope this movie advances Posey's career. I did not know who Erica Mena (Dr. Raven Fields) was before this film, now I'm glad I know who she is. She played an overworked, loving, and trusting owner of her own private practice facility in the film.

See this film!!!
