The New Journey to the West
claudio_carvalho29 September 2017
After four years living with Princess Auslag in Kattegat, Ragnar has two sons and Auslag is pregnant again. Ragnar announces to his people that they will raid to England in the summer with King Horik and Jarl Borg. MeanwhileTollo is in disgrace completely drunk while Siggy tries to motivate him and tells that he should Ragnar to let him go to West with him. However Ragnar does not accept to include Rollo in the raid. When king Horik arrives, he tells that he would not accept Jarl Borg to travel with them. When they arrive at Essex, they fight King Ecbert's men and defeat them. They camp on the beach while a soldier informs the attack to the king.

"Invasion" is the third episode of this Season Two. Lagherta is missing and Rollo was left behind in the journey to the West. Jarl Borg will certainly seek revenge since Ragnar and King Horik do not let him go. What are the intentions of Siggy sleeping with King Horik: My vote is eight.

The excellence continues........

Warning: Spoilers
Notwithstanding the historical accuracy of this series being open to debate (see other reviews), the consistent sky-high quality of every aspect of this show never fails to excite and impress.

Once again, events take some unexpected twists as the saga continues, opening up new vistas for the Vikings' trademark violence, lust and political intrigue. Travis Fimmel's menacing portrayal of Ragnar leaves you very ambivalent - is he your best friend, your closest ally, or your worst enemy? Or none of these, but something else again? Will the attempted conquest of Wessex bring out the warrior or the diplomat in him?

Superb casting, acting, script and locations all conspire to create a series that is more than a match for any of the current crop of fantasy series, qualities that show no signs of diminishing.

4 Years Later

"Invasion" shakes things up interestingly by adding a small time skip in which we get to catch up with where our various characters are now at (Ragnar's flirting with other women again, of course). And obviously, the best part of it all is getting to see Athelstan be a Viking now! He's come so far.

The episode also features the most exciting sea-trip to England yet, and the Vikings arriving in Wessex is an enjoyable development. However, while Rollo was given some solid moments, I do wish he had more presence throughout.

Again, the Vikings are so totally invincible it's actually boring

Warning: Spoilers
So the Wessex bois catch the Vikings off guard, and wow in a complete plot twist they totally lose zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. These battle sequences are an absolute bore fest. There's no stakes or tension. This whole thing is just plot armour. I mean come on, they got the drop on them with archers and like 5 vikings die while the rest take a leisurely stroll to grab their shields and then the vikings totally destroy Wessex United. If this is what people have been raving on about then I'm sure they'd be better off watching marvel because it's the exact same script
