During a news show, a storm rages outside. The lights go out and the female news anchor is stabbed in the back of the neck. She is dead when the lights come back on. It turns out that she was despised by most of the people in the newsroom. Her job was also coveted by some quite beautiful young reporters, whom she routinely mistreated. The CSI's learn the news business while investigating several leads. It was fun to see the realistic news setup.
During a stormy night, the news anchor Theresa Shea at the KVKC station is broadcasting the weather when there is a blackout in the station. Twenty seconds later, the emergency generator works and Theresa is found dead over the desk by her colleagues. In the autopsy, Dr. Robbins finds that she was stabbed on the neck. The producer Fred Paulsen tells to Russell that Theresa had many enemies, basically the entire crew list. Russell asks who was close to Theresa, and Fred tells him that there were three employees only that become the prime suspects. The CSIs interview the meteorologist Rainy Days that says that the prime suspect should be Ella St. James that was professionally harmed by Theresa. But Ella was in a different location. Theresa's assistant Chad Lane was buying coffee in a vendor machine. And the lighting technician Denny Jones is processed by Morgan. They proceed their investigation with many discoveries.
"Dead Air" is a good episode of "CSI", with many twists along the story. The environment of a TV set is interesting and maybe not too far from a real one. The way Russell uses to find out what happened to Theresa is really smart. My vote is seven.
