Call me a sap, but I love this wedding veil series and I love the collaboration of female actors!
cgvsluis27 January 2023
We return to the Italian wedding veil saga. Our three college friends and art aficionados have now all married wonderful men wearing the beautiful Italian veil. (I loved how each had their own personal style and wore the veil in a slightly different way.) We head back to Boston to catch up with Avery and Peter. These two are still madly in love with Peter waking up his romantic wife (the most romantic of the three friends) with a rose each morning. They have purchased this wonderful old home that should be on a historic registry...but in the process of doing some remodeling and updating, discover leaks, cracks in the foundation, etc. To top it off Avery is putting together a new lace exhibit at the museum and has a new boss who she doesn't see eye to eye with. Can she find the perfect unforgettable moment to tell Peter they are expecting and is veil working it's magic on someone else?

I love, love, love this series. It helps that they have wonderful actors anchoring the cast, but I was happy to see the return of so many of the supporting cast. The overall story has been wonderfully done and what I truly appreciate is at its heart is this great supportive friendship between three college friends.

I can't wait to see the next two films...and I hope this is just the beginning of a long and storied Wedding Veil franchise! I highly recommend this to all fellow romantics out there.

Not a 10.

Warning: Spoilers
The Veil movies are very good, mainly due to the 3 leads. But I fail to see the "10" ratings given here. It's good but not wonderful. Some great moments - I love Lacey Chabert and she was stellar in this one. Her joy over the pregnancy was lovely. But overall the movie was okay/good, not excellent. Kevin Mc's accent should just be put to rest. He's very engaging and just doesn't need that bit of "authenticity" to carry his role - we'd never miss it. Many New Englanders don't have one.

He could also use a good shampoo- sorry, I know that's petty, but it was so distracting. Stylist issues?

The plot itself was a little scattered. Loved the main story of the pregnancy, etc and the Mom and her romance, but the new boss at the Gallery (and his issues) was more of a distraction than anything else. Nice scenery and beautiful mansion. Fun to see Autumn Reeser and Allison Sweeney again.

The worst one thus far
MickyG3334 March 2023
6.7 stars.

From a glass half full perspective (quoted in this film actually), "The Wedding Veil Expectations" is a moderately below average Hallmark film. We are back to Chabert as the female lead. It's not as good as the first three, particularly the second one was my favorite. Reeser makes a movie special more so than most lead females of the Hallmark genre (I think Hallmark is its own genre). The reasons that I enjoyed the first two films, the first being a 7.5, was the mystery behind the veil, and it was the genesis of an odyssey of sorts. It was the first of its kind, pulling us into an adventure of the veil shrouded in antiquity (modern antiquity so to speak).

The second one which I rated at 7.8, featuring Reeser was abundant with wonder and mystery as she was trekking through Italy meeting the originators of the veil itself. Her journey and discovery of the provenance of the veil and the Italian family that created it, were intriguing and enjoyable.

The third installment, starring Sweeney, was a 7.2 star disappointment and was lesser than the first ones. Although it contained much of the same, it didn't fit the mold in several key aspects. Much of the mystery and discovery was absent.

This one, the fourth of the veil series, was more like the third except slower, lacking adventure, just very limited to a woman (Chabert) and her feelings about this and that. Basically, this is a film about her discovering she is pregnant. The rest of the film is about her determining how to break the news to her various family and friends; so you can see the letdown. It's not veil oriented at all. Then we are suddenly transported into a very strange and anti-climactic conclusion.

I am not eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series, in fact I was just about ready to call it quits on these films. Of course any Hallmark aficionado can attest that we cannot just watch 4 of the 6 wedding veil movies and leave it at that. I have Reeser to look forward to next, so if it fails to entertain, I'll be doubly disappointed. Ultimately, I have high hopes that the 5th installment will resurrect this down sloping trend of the third and fourth veil films.

Fashion and friendship
shaynagreene15 January 2023
Watched the four parts of the series shown so far. The series contains the basic hallmarks of Hallmark, i.e. Simplicity and not loaded with suspense. Most of us don't want anything too loaded right now, especially not after the past two years and the price of gas. There are two things I like about the series. The second one is the fashion, the three friends have their own individual fashion, as different as their personalities are but the styles are trendy and unique, makes you want to watch. The number one feature of the series I like is the special friendship they have. Everyone needs a friend who will always be there, who understands them, who can read their emotions on the phone. The camaraderie and authenticity of the three leading ladies is enviable.

Lose the Accent
homers-811725 February 2023
I like this group of movies. I always like Lacey Chabert. What I really didn't like was the terribly unconvincing Boston accent from the male lead that came and went. It was very distracting. It bothered me in the first movie and even more this time. I can't think of a good reason for it to be used. The character's mother didn't exhibit it.

I like the enduring friendship between the three women, but wonder why the other husbands don't show up a bit more. It would help with the continuity.

I found myself feeling that the ending was taking too long to arrive. It wasn't my favorite, but I'll keep watching. (I have now met the Minimum character limit which had me trying to come up with more to say even though my first paragraph was really all I wanted to convey.).

The Best Veil Movie Yet
pilgrimrevisited10 January 2023
I loved this movie!!! It's so seldom (if ever) we get to see what happens after "the happily ever after" of a movie but we do with this one. In my opinion this film is a must see because it does show the day to day life with all its challenges... plus with the acting of the amazingly talented Kevin Mcgarry and Lacey Chabert as well as the rest of the cast, it's well worth the watch; they really made it feel real as they went through the ups and downs of day to day life. That said, I also see so many opportunities in the plot for this to become a great mini series (ahem Hallmark). Either way, though I've seen it twice already and working on watching for the third time now, I'm discovering things I missed on the first two viewings and I know I'll watch it again. Congrats Hallmark cast and crew on a job well done!

Loved this movie
vivdubetz10 January 2023
Loved seeing a relationship after the wedding is over. The story was engaging and there were a lot of comedic moments and dramatic moments as well. Kevin and Lacey have great chemistry, which added to the appeal of the story. The acting was well done by everyone, especially by Kevin and Lacey. The women's friendship added to the story nicely, without taking over the main storyline. I liked seeing a continuation to a story that I really liked as well. It would be great if we could visit them again next year (hint, hint to TPTB). I really enjoyed this sequel to the Wedding Veil and would reccommend it to everyone, especially if you want to see something a bit different from Hallmark.

Didn't meet expectations
cdnreviewer9 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the original Wedding Veil trilogy and in particular Lacey Chabert's movie last year, so my expectations for this first film were high. Unfortunately, I was disappointment by the first entry in this year's trilogy.

Avery's "too perfect" persona and creating drama for the sake of drama were grating. Telling Emma and Tracy about the pregnancy before Peter and pursuing the elusive "perfect" moment to tell him was plain silly. Yet she had time to gossip about her mother-in-law's love life to her friends, which seemed regressive for her character. The invented dramas with the house made zero sense given money is no issue for the couple.

Avery's dresses were on point as usual, and she and Peter are a great couple, but this film lacks the magic of the original. Here's hoping the other two films of this year's trilogy are better than this one.

Another Engaging Installment of The Wedding Veil
aprilskau9 January 2023
One of the reasons I enjoyed the original parts of The Wedding Veil involved the art and the history that were showcased with the story. I wasn't sure what this next installment would offer me as part of the audience, but I found it even more delightful. It let us glimpse into the new marriage of Avery and Peter, and the negotiations and frustrations that come with marriage and the adjustment to another person in most aspects of life. Because of the previews, I didn't realize how much this story would focus on the two of them and their struggles together. It turned out to be a lovely surprise. The story was great, the acting, superb, and the overall production, simply wonderful.

Worst of the six so far
Jackbv1231 February 2023
I agree completely with the other reviewers who said the story is all over the place.

I think that all the spontaneous explanations for verbal slips are supposed to be funny, but for me that were just childish explanations. Avery so excited about a new car? And a minivan no less. And that gag was beaten to death.

I wonder if the viewer is supposed to take Avery's side in her struggle with her new boss. Despite the outcome, this isn't promising for their future together because ... well he's the boss. If he and the Curator disagree so strongly, well good luck. And he wasn't wrong.

Like the 6th movie (I saw this last), the wedding veil legend gets shortchanged at least as far as any romance story springing out of it, again despite the outcome. It's just that the romance story got washed out by everything else.

It must be nice for the three friends to be able to drop everything and fly to another city at the drop of a hat. That is a continuing theme throughout the series. I will agree that it is great to see such devoted friendship.

I wondered about ballot box stuffing especially with so many 10 star written reviews against a weighted score below 7. I looked at 5 or more of those writers' histories and the ones I picked varied from the only review to a history of 25. None of theme had a deep portfolio of written reviews. A few seemed to favor Kevin McGarry movies and WCtH. The rating spread wasn't that unusual with maybe a tad more 10's than should be expected.

Even the relationship between Avery and Peter was a little thin as far as screen time in this movie. In general, there was just too many story lines.

Good installment of the series
ab-840389 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Good installment (Movie #4) in the Wedding Veil movie series. The three best friends are all featured but, this is Avery and Peter's story. Avery is involved in a work drama, renovating a house and hoping/trying for a baby.

Pros: The story was good, family friendly, Lacey Chabert and Kevin McGarry have a nice and easy way of making their relationship work. There are some sweet and funny and sentimental parts that add to the story.

The Lace Wedding Veil is featured in another couple's match, that was unexpected.

Cons: Small gripe. For me, the three friends are too perfect, Lol. They always call at the right time.

They show up at the right time, and they always look perfect. No sweats or messy bun hair for these ladies. Everyone is fully made up w Make-up, Jewelry and Heels, wearing Formal Outfits, even if they are traveling or just coming for a quick visit. Kinda unrealistic that they are always looking sharp whenever they happen to call each other. I just think it would be more realistic that they are really friends if they cut out some of the formality and just hung out together.

Kevin and Lacey were at their best!
pgibbons-839539 January 2023
It took me awhile to warm up to the original Wedding Veil movies. I liked them okay, but they weren't movies I was going to run right out and rewatch. I had no idea what to expect, coming into this one, but I absolutely loved it. We were told that these movies showed what happened after the wedding, and that's exactly what this showed. Avery and Peter were still in a very loving, healthy relationship, with life's normal bumps along the way. I typically don't enjoy Hallmark's movies about married couples, because they are usually about marriages in trouble. This was not the case, with "Expectations."

Their marriage was in a healthy spot, they shared a ton of sweet kisses, hand holds, cuddles, and authentic conversations within a marriage. I found this movie to be extremely well acted, incredibly romantic, and one of the best Hallmark movies I've seen.

I have read comments by people saying there was not a large enough plot point, but I disagree. What we saw was a healthy, functional, loving marriage. We were told we were going to see what happened after the wedding, and that's exactly what we saw.

In my opinion, it is the best acted movie, by both Kevin McGarry and Lacey Chabert, and I've seen them all. :-)

Kind of Boring
kimland11 February 2023
The whole movie is all about how happy they are to be having a baby, how excited they are to have a baby, how nervous they are to be having a baby, how anxious they are to be having a baby, keep it a secret, our lives are changing because we are having a baby, they are having a baby..., baby, baby, baby. So boring and predictable. I watched the entire movie with hopes of improving, but it was just a movie full of sentimental anticipation of the arrival of a baby. It really romanticized pregnancy. It would have been nice to see more of the backstory on mother in law's rekindled relationship of a firmer flame.

After Happily Ever After
haa411 January 2023
Love that the trilogy is continuing and The Wedding Veil Expectations was a solid continuation of Peter and Avery's love story. What happens after happily ever after? This is it! I appreciated the Hallmark-style bedroom scenes as well. Not something we usually see!

This honestly felt more like a pilot for a series to me but it was jammed into a 2 hour movie instead. Lots of good stories but it felt like some were given more focus than others. In particular, Grace and Clark's story didn't really have much depth.

I'd love to see this series ongoing, perhaps with a mystery surrounding a different antique each time. But I also wonder if maybe this universe is better served as a 10 episode series than 3 movies a year. There are just so many characters now with lots of different stories to tell. It's clear that the actors and creatives enjoy working together and it's a great mix of talent.

I would also love to see Kevin McGarry back on a series with creatives who love and appreciate his immense talent. I've seen all of Kevin and Lacey's prior movies and this is easily the best pairing I've seen for both of them. More of this please.

Oh dear
mr-bedford10 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the funniest films I've seen in years. There is no real plot at all, the editing is terrible it's almost like a sketch show with inane dialogue about nothing. Acting is terrible and the cast should be on day time soap operas from the 90s (as backup) it's not a very long film so if you are really bored give it a go, with a couple of beers.

It contain predictable and unfunny setups which go no where. The whole plot is given away in the first ten minutes, like the roof of the new house which is clearly a very well maintained mansion, and you get a roof shot with a couple of bits of plastic which look like they use it to cover the cameras if it rains.

Romance after marriage, real problems, such GREAT talant!
guardedheartie11 January 2023
This movie was SUCH a delight, and made me smile, laugh out loud, and be silent with a content full heart so many times.

Kevin McGarry and Lacey Chabert have gotten even better as an on-screen couple. They have wonderful timing together, true warmth and affection and do a great job bringing these characters to life.

While they are living in a somewhat unrealistic dream world, they also encounter many every-couple challenges small and large. Examples of the unrealistic dream world: he gets up before her every day and wakes her up with a fresh rose, she wears romantic dresses and 6 inch heels almost every day, they have bought a classic mansion that is clean and furnished beautifully, they both are working their dream jobs and apparently have enough money to impulsively make large expenditures multiple times a week without looking at the budget. Examples of every-couple challenges: canceled meetings, casual full-coverage pajamas, unexpected house repairs (MAJOR ones), conflicting goals (in small stuff), spats, emotions, throwing decorative pillows on the floor and ordering take-out for dinner. She wants to nest and decorate. He wants to protect and bring the house up to code on earthquakes.

The friendship between the three ladies continues and I enjoyed their scenes in this movie more than I did in the first trilogy.

Karen Kruper brought life and depth as Peter Hasting's mother. I also applaud Hallmark for putting her story in this movie -- mature widowed women have wonderful interesting stories too. It was lovely to have a character-story arc for Kevin McGarry here -- many opportunities to tell a story of grief and growth on this part, and with a lot of comedy thrown in. A large part of this movie's success is due to his performance, although Hallmark would like us to think it's all about the ladies.

It's such a lovely movie and Hallmark has done a great thing by continuing this series with these great characters.

I would love for the Wedding Veil Trilogy to become a yearly series -- a new trilogy of movies every January, following these characters through decades, would be lovely and the fanbase would show up for sure.

Another winner for HM
tbouckhuyt14 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kevin McGarry has wit and humor he brings to his role and so naturally, along with his range of talents and handsome good looks, and those mesmerizing blue eyes.. The tenderness for each other they give in their roles on screen is so endearing. You can tell they work well together. Lacey is a producer too and hand picked Kevin for this role. Even Autumn and Alison enjoy him on set, he is serious about his role yet keeps things light, so the whole team works well together and it shows. A delightful, in depth storyline that just keeps getting better. They now have their 1st baby, and his mother found love again, so the wedding veil has succeeded, keeps working it's legend and all are happy in the ending. Lacey's wardrobe is always outstanding. Delightful movie I've already watched multiple times ! Enchanting feel good movie ❤

No Chemistry Between Peter and Avery - Peter's Accent Kept Shifting
sallylit10 January 2023
There is no chemistry between Peter and Avery. They both came off as wooden and cold and not like two people in love. Also, the actor who played Peter wasn't professional enough to keep a Boston accent going throughout the movie. I had the same problem with the character of Peter in the first Veil movie. I was hoping his acting would improve this time around, but it didn't.

I watched the first three Veil movies, and the only one I loved was the 2nd one set in Italy. Those two leads were so much fun to watch and actually looked like two people crazy in love. Their chemistry was off the charts.

good storyline and acting was good
margaretyong-945419 January 2023
Nice story line after the first wedding veil movie. The acting by Lacey and Kevin was good - not overdone, very natural and his expressions were good. Hope they do another sequel next year. Did not like the storyline on the new guy in charge of the museum though. The costumes was so nice. The heigh difference between Kevin and Lacey was quite funny, but Lacey is a very petite woman so she looks small even with other actors. Nice movie to start the year 2023, i hope the rest of HM movies improve as i have no seen a good HM movie for quite a while. Kevin is my favourite Hallmark actor and hope he does more movies.

Should have been called "Rich White People Living Their Lives"
cberry61015 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has no plot to speak of and is just 90 minutes of the characters going about their day-to-day lives. It's really just an ode to rich, white privileged people. They have problems with the house which is too bad but the house is also a mega mansion which implies they have the money to deal with it so why should the viewer care? The endless search for perfection is pretty grating as well. The male lead does absolutely nothing for me and doesn't add anything to the movie besides perhaps a drinking game guessing whether or not he'll have a Boston accent in a given scene... I think that Alison Sweeney was trying a bit too hard in this one too. Autumn Reeser and Lacey Chabert seemed more natural.

At the end of the day the ultimate question is literally "what is the point?" And the answer is: there isn't one. Skip this one.

Thank you! This amazing movie Exceeded my Expectations!
zachsrthankful10 January 2023
So looked forward to this movie because I loved the first movie and yet still blown away! The storyline was wonderful and very believable and to see their lives continue after their wedding was so fun! Kevin McGarry's talent was incredible and he and Lacey set the bar very high for this second trilogy! The range of circumstances and emotions evoked by the wide range of acting was so enjoyable and heartfelt. I could easily see a sitcom come from this 4th movie, even more than I wanted one for the first! I absolutely loved it and the nod to When Harry Met Sally outtakes were the icing on the cake!

fantastic movie , incredible performances by two leads . Great moments captured on screen .
lillianrondanini9 January 2023
Loved this movie . We see Avery and Peter on married life with the love and stresses of a couple newly married. The comedy and emotion and love shown on screen is a testament to a great scrip and Lacey Chabert and Kevin McGarry incredible performances. The friends and other cast members added to the plot lots of emotional moments and the Director Peter Benson gave us incredible scenes . Cinematography was just beautiful . All characters were developed with very distinct personalities and the three friends are so close and so different. It is a delight to see these friends support each other and this couple welcome a new baby with all the fear and love and expectation .

Highly recommend !

A Lackluster Sequel
atlasmb28 February 2023
This first sequel to Hallmark's "Wedding Veil" trilogy does not live up to expectations, I am sorry to say. This episode is Avery's (Lacey Chabert) story and it continues the mythology surrounding artifacts.

The central story is about Avery trying to find the best time to give Peter (Kevin McGarry) the good news of her pregnancy. Complicating matters arise from Avery's work, where her boss has a different vision for success, and from their renovation of the house, which is plagued by expensive problems.

The two episodes to come may elevate this series once again. The two episodes to come may elevate this series once again. They will focus on the continuing stories of Avery's two friends, who are also newlyweds.

Beyond my expectations!
tncendicott14 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I tuned into this continuation of the Wedding Veil trilogy with much fear and hesitation. I knew the original movie had kept my interest due to Kevin McGarry being the lead and the story involving a mystery, but I was afraid that Kevin wouldn't be in this one much due to his lack of being shown much in promos. They kept promoting this as being focused on the female friendships between the lead women and I expected the marriage to be given very little screen time due to that. WOW! Showing their marriage and life they were building together WAS the largest plot in the story. Usually in movies, marriage is shown in such a negative light that you usually finish a movie with negativity towards your marriage or marriage partner. Nope. Not in this one! I loved how they started the movie with Peter waking her up with a rose in bed. It was a reference back to their first date they had together in the first trilogy walking through the garden to smell the roses! This movie had excellent acting, chemistry between scene partners, witty banter, comedic timing, romance, positive examples of how to resolve marital conflict and how to talk through stressful situations and encourage your partner in moments of doubt. This was pure sweetness and joy to watch from start to finish. I smiled for days after viewing it and it motivated me to take the time to add some romance back into my marriage! I love the height difference between Peter and Avery and all the humorous situations that allows for in watching their relationship unfold onscreen. I loved the positive message that was sent that said you can have a career AND l desire to have children and want to be good parents! So often, parenting and raising children is mocked and treated as a life sentence and not as the true privilege it is!! The minivan jokes were hilarious. Kevin's acting choices in how he showed Peter's playfulness and flirty banner with Avery were spot on. Lacey played Avery as the perfect example of loving and encouraging partner even when she didn't get her way in various situations. I loved the acting by Sam and Lucy and also appreciated seeing a positive relationship between a mother in law and daughter in law shown onscreen! I could envision Kevin and Lacey playing a couple in their own TV series or sitcom even if the Wedding Veil Trilogy ends after this year. I love them together as much as I love seeing Lacey with Brennan Elliot.

Thanks Hallmark for surprising me in a good way with this movie! I think I'm going to watch it again to relive the "high" right now.

Finally watched and was completely let down
CranberriAppl31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is not a worthy follow up to the originals and it took me two tries to finish. Those three movies were some of Hallmark's best ever but something went wrong with #4. No offense, but 10 stars implies that this movie is just as good as the first trilogy (which IMO are 8/10) or The Godfather, but I do not agree that this one ranks that high. Tracy and Nick are the best couple for me. They were way more realistic and relatable even with the magic of the veil. Alison and Victor also had the best romantic chemistry and great dialogue. Emma and Paulo were my 2nd faves and the Italian setting was the best. As much as I really like Autumn (love her movies with Jesse M), they seem like the filler or bridge couple. Avery (Peter) is one extreme, Emma (Paulo) is neutral, and Tracy (Nick) is the other extreme.

For context, outside of the no longer with us mysteries, my favorite HM trilogy couple is Frankie and Nate from the Vineyard series. With each movie, you could see the progression of their relationship. Another good series couple is Olivia and Mick from The Wedding March. Lacey and Brennan's characters in the All of My Heart trilogy were a beautiful couple. Avery and Peter do not seem like that great of a couple. None of the charm from their movie is here. Peter is crabby and prickly for some reason. He's finally teaching art like he wants, married to the love of his life, but he has this poor attitude? It was really strange. Honestly and especially with Hallmark, because they have what amounts to a rotating cast of actors, it becomes easy to see who has chemistry and who doesn't. I thought Kevin and Lacey were super sweet in the first movie and maybe it was the nature of it being a meet cute storyline, but it fell way flat this time. The reno of the house was boring and unnecessary given everything else going on. It could have been played for laughs like Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, yet everything about it annoyed Peter and Avery had her head in the clouds about it all. Look, I actually love Leave it to Beaver, but even June occasionally wore flats with her dresses at home. Seeing Avery always in heels and very boutique dresses even at home (during a reno remember) was too much. Who doesn't kick their shoes off the moment they cross the threshold. I think the only time she was casual was in pajamas. It's your home, be comfortable. If Carrie Bradshaw could do it, you can too. I think it must be a Lacey thing bc I feel most of her movies have her in stilettos. Maybe it's bc she's short, but Emma and Tracy who we see dressed to the 9s and casual (exercising) seem way low maintenance in comparison. Also, did I miss it, but what happened to the family foundation?

I can't be the only one who expected to see A/P go through more experiences as expecting parents? Avery and Peter are the most saccharine of the couples, so I expected more and this movie could have gotten away with it compared to Emma or Tracy. There was soooo much about this movie that had NOTHING to do with the pregnancy. It even took her the first hour (maybe longer) to tell him. One of my favorite book series is the Shopaholic books and I was hoping to see at least something endearing and humorous like when Becky and Luke were expecting. It is Hallmark after all...this movie was just not it. They could have kept the reno storyline and swapped it for more moments of them as soon to be parents and the adjustment...although did anything even adjust? All of the drama that Avery and Peter have in both movies is of their own making.

Another "flaw" with this movie is even accepting the premise and their friendships, the fact that all three are married yet still drop everything to, like someone else mentioned, fly to wherever for a half a day's therapy session is a bit much. It made much more sense when they were all single, but ladies, you're married and have families of your own to nurture. Especially Emma coming from Chicago, I think? Tracy made slightly more sense being in NYC, but even then...it's giving dependency. Maybe tacking on the new baby as basically a footnote is why but what new mom would leave their 2-3 month old baby to go antiquing in New Orleans? Edit: I started Emma's movie and new mom Avery traveled to Chicago to the gallery opening and I'm just like...ok. So has she left her baby twice in a short span of time? The scene where Avery "needed" back up when dealing with her new boss. Come on. She's an adult. This Hallmark trope of characters actually being irrational and wrong but "winning" over the big bad boss is so tired. Avery and Peter and the others should buy the painting since it means so much. Everyone isn't going to feel the same way about it, so is this going to be the how she deals with conflict over it? Didn't Peter have a best friend in the first movie? Where was his support system?

Peter's treatment of his mom and his mom's new man...is he for real? Doesn't quite jive with his behavior from the first movie. He actually seemed very petulant. Again had it been played for laughs a bit, that would have helped, but even then, he's a grown man, soon to be dad. He was very bratty and spoiled and it wasn't a good look especially for a man that teaches children.

I just really expected (ugh sorry) more of the pregnancy and how it would change their lives and I swear they didn't even give Avery a bump! Then all of a sudden we see the baby who's at least a few months old. Total underwhelming let down. Not to mention that tacking on the MIL/Grandma experiencing the magic of the veil low key cheapened how creatively it was used in the first three films. The movie should have at least made that a true b storyline involving the veil. Or even done more with Avery's assistant at the museum since she's a frequent HM actress who is probably due for her own movie.

IDK, I wish I'd watched this in January so I could have deleted it sooner. I was glad when I saw the continuation, but now I don't need to know more about Avery and Peter. I hope their story is finished. I'm going to watch Emma then Tracy, but this movie almost makes me not want to. But I will. Here's hoping Tracy's finishes the series strong. Hallmark has been incredibly hit or miss and for me, the last really quality bunch of movies was Christmas 2020/Winter and Spring 2021. Other than this one, I haven't watched any of the 2023 movies as of today. I am someone who is not ashamed to watch these movies and accept them for what they are, but when there are good ones (like the first three), it's hard to ignore the very mediocre ones (this one).

Lastly, and it's not necessarily a criticism, just an observation, but I would like to see Lacey change it up sometimes. My favorite HM of hers is Elevator Girl, but as old as that movie is, there is not much difference btwn how she portrayed Liberty and now Avery. Bethany J. Lenz always changes up her characters' hair, style, personalities for her movies. She's done so many HM movies but all of her characters look and act too similar. Candace, Nikki, and Jen L are other actresses that change up their looks from character to character. Even Tyler Hines changes it up. It would be refreshing to see Lacey do the same.

6/10 at best.

P. S. Wasn't the veil returned to Nick's grandmother and then his sister? Why did Avery have it to let her MIL hold? Maybe one day I'll watch again and see if I missed something.
