Bridget Barkan, red haired sex worker missing her left leg, has starred in 5 episodes of SVU. Including one Strange Beauty (2012) which has SVU detectives specifically looking for a person who is deliberately amputating women's left legs.

During the joint FBI/NYPD task-force briefing Captain Cragen reminds everyone that the suspect they are looking for is armed to the teeth and that they need to wear their Kevlar vests at all times. Fin replies by saying "against an AK? They won't do much good". Kevlar vests, especially the lighter ones used by law enforcement, are designed to stop low and medium powered bullets from a handgun. They are not designed to stop a bullet from a high-powered rifle, which includes the AK-47, which is chambered to fire the 7.62×39mm NATO cartridge. A .30 caliber, 123 grain bullet fired from an AK has a muzzle velocity of 2,421 ft/s (738 m/s) with 1,607 ft/lbs (2,179 J) of energy, which would rip right through a typical Kevlar vest. By comparison a 9x19mm handgun fires a .35 caliber, 115 grain bullet at a velocity of 1,180 ft/s (360 m/s) and 355 ft/lbs (481 J) of energy.
