great action is hard to come by
vampiri30 September 2013
Since I am Swedish I try to keep myself updated when it comes to my fellow Swedes' new Movies, especially Dolph Lundgren, and thus I watched this one as soon as I could.

Admittedly, Dolph may have his best years behind him. Still, he has worked with most of the creme de la creme within the action genre, i.e. Brandon Lee, Stallone, Van Damme. To his defence, perhaps he is not handed the best of scripts these Days. I would gladly Watch Men of War, Rocky IV, Universal Soldier, Johnny Mnemonic, Red Scorpion again.

Plot: A scarface duo try to move up the ladder. One is uncertain if he really wants to and is involved with a sweet girl and really wants to do something else. Unfortunately for them they are preyed upon by a rogue cop and hunted by the DEA.

Sadly, this Movie lacks true depth. I could tell that the writer tried really hard to create depth and credibility for his characters. Instead he fails miserably and all the characters get stuck halfway. Dolphs character has an unexplored relationship with Another DEA agent, one of the bad guys (who really is the Movies hero) cannot deliver a believable characterization of a guy in torment about what to do in Life. The Dirty cop succeeds somewhat better, but the best characters, which do not have any depth to speak of, are the drug kingpin and the hero's partner.

Due to this fact that the script tries too much to be a Little bit deeper than most B-Movies and lacks, as well, a really likable hero I can only hand out...

...4 out of 10. Dolph does not deliver, but is excused by having a minor role and the bad script. However, there are some good Points in the Movie: Randy Couture is good as the Dirty cop and the final shootout scene is pretty good as well as the photography.

Pusher rush
kosmasp25 December 2013
Or how about the German title "Thrill to Kill"? Yes another title change that is just hilarious. Unfortunately that title is the only thing that is really worth anything. Unless you are in it for the nudity and some of the nice effects when it comes to the scenes with violence. Couture tries his best and might be the best thing here, but that still isn't enough to excuse watching this.

Even if you have a heart for B-movies and or Dolph Lundgren (he's not a main character here, but he can be seen a couple of times), this might be worth a look, but overall it does not qualify your time and money to waste and watch it.

cosmo_tiger11 October 2013
"We're businessmen not junkies. We control this world or at least I thought so." Agent Maxwell (Lundgren) is finally about to reach the center of an international cocaine smuggling ring run by Vincent Camastra (Jones). When his partner Agent Royce gets in over her head it is up to Maxwell to get her out and bring the criminals to justice before it's too late. Dolph Lundgren is an actor who started off with a bang (Rocky 4) then slowly started to fade into straight to DVD movies. Most of them are slow, boring and unnecessary. While this one is nothing amazing or original it was entertaining and better then most of his movies. In between the cookie cutter plot there are some actual interesting dialog and borderline social commentary that makes you think. That is not something you would expect from a Lundgren movie. There really isn't much else to say about this, if you've seen one you've seen them all. On the other hand this is better then most of his, which may be because he isn't in it that much. Overall, Lundgren fans will like this. I give it a B-.

Don't see this movie if you want to see Dolph, Randy, or Vinnie
diggler_inc17 October 2013
because they are hardly in it. This movie is marketed to make you think it is an action-fest with these three guys, but it is really a boring movie about 2 wannabe big shot drug dealers played by unknown actors. One looks like David Swimmer and the other looks like James Franco.

This film actually played in theaters where I live and I wasted money seeing it.

Camera-work is extremely shaky and amateurish looking. Vinnie Jones is hardly in it and the scenes with him are pointless. There is also a lot of pointless and contrived nudity, swearing, and poorly done scenes of people getting shot.

This movie is complete garbage.

Review: Bad acting. Bad storyline. Total waste of time. I was expecting to see Dolph Lungren kick some ass against Vinnie Jones, but there hardly in the movie. Vinnie only says a couple of words and he's only in a couple of scenes, like Dolph Lungren who also got plastered all over the poster. Randy Couture is in it quite a bit, as the dirty cop, alongside the 2 awful main characters who over acted all the way through the film. By the end of the movie, I was just glad that it was over. I'm just loosing all faith in any movie that Vinnie Jones is in. Awful!

Round-Up: From the beginning of this film it just seemed cheap and terribly made. I actually liked Dolph Lungren in the last 2 movies that I saw him in, but he was underused in this film and his lines wasn't that witty. As for the other actors, I haven't really seen them before, and judging by there performance, I doubt that I'll be seeing them again. As I wasn't expecting that much from the movie, I wasn't that disappointed, but I was expecting a little entertainment at least.

I recommend this movie to people who like there crime/drama about drug dealers making a mess of there business. 1/10

HORRIBLE, annoying cast and a sloppy movie.
derek-a-charette10029 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Being a fan of Dolph Lundgren and drug empire type movies, I thought I would like this flick. Sadly, to my dismay, I was already annoyed by it only 20 minutes in. This movie is a TERRIBLE effort to put a notch in the "great drug dealing and organized crime movie" list. The whole movie was just a series of attempts to push the envelope and create scenes that are evidently supposed to have shock value in the same way that movies like Scarface and Goodfellas were successful with. To make a good movie from a script like this requires a decent budget, a really good writing and production staff, good actors, and an original plot. Ambushed lacks every one of these. If your going to have a bad cast, at least have a good writer and director. For example, when he goes to his girlfriend's house for dinner, and she answered the door, the way she was speaking was agonizing! I am unable to explain exactly what her acting was like... kind of what you would imagine an ignorant, flaky, brat female speaking to her depressed Poodle and a crying child, while flirting with someone and begging for gas money at the same time. Repulsive. Just as bad, is this RANDOM Scottish gweedo trying to act like Tony Montana meets Hulk Hogan, with a BAD accent. Insanely ANNOYING. Even worse... in one scene, the guy (I have not taken the effort to get their character names) walks in the apartment with a huge bag of blow, kicks open his dealers door and yells "POLICE!". The dude in bed grabs a pistol and fired several shots at him, somehow missing from close range. They immediately walk into the next room and admire the huge bag of blow, but nobody seems to care that several shots were just fired in their apartment while they are standing over a bag full of cocaine. Anyway, don't bother! I do still respect Lundgren, though. He earned my respect many years ago, and for that he can get away with junk movies like this.

Hard Rush (aka Ambushed)
phubbs7 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
No idea what the title for this cheap drug dealer action drama is, supposedly 'Hard Rush' but comes up as 'Ambushed' on IMDb. Not that it really matters though, the first of a trilogy of films starring Lundgren and Vinnie Jones that have been rolled out in 2013 from some tacky straight to DVD company. The casting in these films is pretty good amazingly, its like a collection of mini expendables with Davi, Cung Le, Billy Zane and Couture all popping up. Easy quick work and money for these guys obviously, Jones has been in tonnes of these flicks! literately tonnes! and he plays the same character every time!

The plot is errr sorta about some drug dealers trying to strike it big and errrrrrrm Jones is the big boss on the block...oh geez I dunno. Its an epic muddle of characters none of which I cared about at all and I couldn't follow who was trying to double cross who. The predictable finale shoot out is so confusing I gave up, everyone shoots everyone, police, undercover agents, dealers etc...No idea what happened to Jones in all this, his character just vanishes despite lots of threatening threats to the main characters.

Its not all terrible though, some of the visuals are well shot and its all been pieced together in a rather slick way. That's it though, the fights are awful, Dolph looks tired and slow whilst Jones is the boring sadistic unbeatable bad guy. The main two characters are wholly unlikeable, one is a smartass who I really wanted to see get beaten, the other is a cheap Scottish budget version of David Schwimmer! I kid you not, his name is Gianni Capaldi, Google him, the dude is a dead ringer for Schwimmer.

I know these cheap action flicks are suppose to be guilty pleasure type stuff with lots of gratuitous violence and gun porn...but what went wrong here?! This film offers nothing of what I just said, maybe a bit of ass and that's it, Dolph isn't even in it much for Pete's sake! What a complete waste of time.

Its A New Era & Doplh Lundgren Keeps Making Bad Films
FilmMan4727 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
a new era has started & there are filmmakers out there the audience blames them for bad films but some blame actors should get too like Steven sea-gal,jean Claude van Dame & last is Dolph Lundgren these three guys are my favorite action heroes but they are making bad films, they produce some or choose a bad movie only for money,if they want they can make a good script themselves & stop releasing movies for 2 years make a big budget good film.but no this direct to DVD cinema is ruining the art i say.

the plot of this film there is no way i am telling you its written go read yourself, its same & done many times before some guy was doing good & some guy ripped someone off or cheated or kill or smuggle or all the dictionary of overused words you will find here or vise versa.critics like a movie OK who are critics let me tell you they are either journalists having a job or they are very rich people with a lot of money & time they buy a lot of discs & watch tons of movies in theaters a regular guy don't have this much money.

the cast oh please forget it its only Dolph Lundgren appearing in c grade films after universal soldier series.last year the expendables 2 came out which was a pretty bad movie from Stallone who is the biggest action hero in the world,it was a grade embarrassment specially for Jcvd fans.

these people are talking audience for granted otherwise people will boycott them if this continues.there is no rush in this film its just a hush better watch rush hour films then this senseless action flick.

My Rating For Ambushed 2013 is 1/10 another awful film added into Dolph's Career.Skipp it

A really bad attempt at directing with a convincing tone
Alexander-Ross15 December 2013
Wasn't expecting a true masterpiece, but having taken a serious look at the cast, premise, and looks of this one, thought was gonna maybe get by the lucky film noir/thriller/murder mystery/ action genre, and, possibly get to delight myself with some sort of little gem, maybe even a cult film! Man, was i wrong? First off, the disappointment to realize that all the great genre actors i was looking forward to see in action were in just for few minutes, and, in mostly contrived roles: Dolph Lundgren looked rather stiff here, and obviously, looking like, as if he was not even completely well aware of the dreary script, and, Vinnie Jones was real bored, you could tell he was just there for the check, then, even other people like William McNamara, or Domiziano Arcangeli were badly used, and of mere, if any service, sadly. Randy Couture is more in the movie, but, maybe the role wasn't completely developed, or the footage wasn't even enough to cover anything else other than some slick, yet very shaky images of trivial violence, with wild panoramic's on actors falling dead cold in absurd, and unexplained circumstances, and, in any case he just appeared mostly disoriented, and without a real motive other than playing a sexy villain. The movie has a very poor story, made of that pulp fiction, that is not stylish or cool, but, just heavily insisted without significance, becoming a sum up of glossy, yet very gratuitous shots, framed over banal vulgarity, and some true exploitative nudity like in some of those Italian "policemen vs. gangsters" C grade flicks from the 1970's, but, without Fernando De Leo, instead, almost feeling, as if it had been filmed a decade later, with that annoying video clip's gloss, so stereotypical of late 1980's, early 1990's US most conventional action's shockers. There are 2-vaguely- main characters, however, the actors playing those parts are unfortunately quite bland, and, not all that interesting to watch for one thing, even though, one should say that they seemed to work hard to make sense of such a cheap mess, at least! All together this is basically just a very ambitious movie, completely gone awry, and, wasted, forgettable, badly directed, and paced: just some bad B movie, a bust! It is primarily truly missing indeed all of those (possible, perhaps?) opportunities, by under utilizing somewhat of a cult cast, while, instead going straight to the old cable standards, and just bringing down rotten, and all broken up, what could have (maybe) been initially a way more intriguing type of hard boiled idea, if it had been of course rightly developed, and, staged with a really more pertinent focus, since what you read about the story is again unfortunately way more promising than the ultimately very disappointing, almost total nonsense, "delivered" plot by this contrived final product! I know if i had gone to the theaters, i would have asked for my money back. Literally!

Ambitious drug peddling crime pals VS a DEA agent, a corrupt cop, and a drug boss
Someguysomwhere26 September 2013
Dolph Lundgren as Maxwell is a DEA agent who is investigating drug dealers. However Maxwell and his investigation are not the centerpiece of this movie. That honor goes to 2 criminal friends named Frank and Eddie from whose perspectives this movie chiefly unfolds. Most especially Frank who is a club owner, drug dealer, drug taker and murderer. And this is not the end of his accomplishments: He's also a criminologist, sociologist, economist, dreamer, sage and narrator. And the icing on the cake? He's making it with his dream girl; a college "girl-nextdoor" type.

We know about Frank's afore mentioned scholarly accomplishments because he narrates this movie, talking to us, the viewing audience; even "lecturing", I would say, about how his world works and the world at large. His best bud Eddie is (thankfully) not that deep. Just wants to be a bigshot and have a good time (So school is out with this guy). Frank is ambitious; wants to move up in the drug business and is ruthless enough to do whatever it takes including murder and stepping on the toes of a drug boss Maxwell is investigating.

The drama of this movie basically comes from (1) the doings of Frank and Eddie as they try to climb the ladder to success that dealing drugs can buy. (2) Frank's relationship with his clueless dream girl (Not stupid; she thinks he's only a "club owner"). (3) Maxwell and his investigation into the operations of a drug boss and Frank and Eddie. Throw into the mix a violent, corrupt cop shaking down drug dealers and Max and his team have got there hands full.

I thought the movie felt a bit long because of "dull spots" of conversation in a few places throughout (I would have added another star, otherwise). Sometimes when Frank was talking to Eddie, to his girl, and to us the viewing audience. As well, the 2 chicks in bed; one of them an undercover DEA agent (Frank's paramour, by the way). In this last instance, less talking and more making out would have perked me up and saved that scene. There is rap music in this movie (in case you like it or don't). It started the movie nicely, I thought, but the rest of it -though sounding okay- seemed to me "somewhat" misplaced. Finally: The action is unremarkable but "okay". Dolph as Maxwell is a bit unwieldy but can still get the job done, I think, if you place yourself within range of a fist or leg and wait for it. Or in the event of a chase, don't run too fast. Love, Boloxxxi.

Entertaining, recommended for a watch
arf0032 October 2013
Picked up Hard Rush for a quick watch over the weekend and I have to say I actually enjoyed it. Sceptical at first however it was in the charts at Tesco's DVD section so I gave it a shot.

Where to start?

Well, story centres two rising drug dealers who own a club and want to climb the ladder of success in Los Angeles. One named Frank and one named Eddie (who is a Scot). They steal drugs from the wrong man, Vincent. who in turn wants them to sell for him which they do successfully however a dirty cop, Reilly, wants in on the action. All this is happening whilst an FBI agent, Maxwell, is hunting them all down. They ultimately all meet up in a bedroom at the end of the film.

Writing was OK. Story lacked in some places and there were areas which were massively underdeveloped. There was a very weak relationship between Dolph and the undercover agent, that part had no impact on the story. Would have really enjoyed the relationship between the two to be taken further. Would have also been nice to see a further developed story line on the relationship between the two drug dealers and ultimately what happened to Vinnie Jones' character at the end. No closure? Also a little more written on Reilly perhaps? On a positive note, some of the characters he created were original and at times extremely amusing and I enjoyed how all webs weaved ended up meeting in one location at the end. I really enjoyed some of the dialogue too, had sound and original elements in it. Bravo.

The director did a good job as much as I can see with the budget he was given. Casting was great. I liked the shifts/breaks between scenes. I also like his choice of locations believe it or not. His choice of characters were daring and paid off. Some of the sky shots of the city as well as the shots overlooking the sea helped open it up a lot. Nice work! I must watch more from him.

Action. As far as this goes, it was all ground level but solid and acceptable. Fighting scene at the end between Couture and Lundgren was great. They used a rain machine in the last scene and it enhanced the fight. Great choice by the director. Also seeing Vinnie in action was on the money.

Acting. Dolph Lundgren is Dolph Lundgren. To the critic who gave this a bad score, you are not a good reviewer. If I wanted to watch Gosling or Di Caprio I wouldn't have picked up this film. This film is not comparable to anything like that. I am sure at a budget level, whatever that may have been, they did a good job. Dolph will not produce anything worthy of a good actor performance so get over it. In this he was acceptable, lets be honest, when his girlfriend was in serious danger at the bar he didn't change his expression one bit but I did care? No. As far as the others, Vinnie Jones was perfectly cast, he did a great job and wow did he beat poor Eddie to a pulp. Always menacing and threatening as ever. Randy Couture, he is one for the future to watch. I thought he played his part well, maybe he could've seemed a little more menacing at times but he did well. He displayed some softer sides to his character which I really enjoyed, wish I saw more of him doing that. Frank, (Daniel Bonjor) never heard of him before this, but he did a solid job and was well suited for that role. I liked his less menacing approach to his character, was good, possibly question the relationship side a little. Eddie, a Scot, Gianni Capaldi (Dr Who's relative), I thought did really well. As explosive as he was I enjoyed watching his crazy antics, excellent excellent casting, changed paces of scenes and was colorful. Did Peter give him tips? The rest were all solid. On a whole, I thought everyone did well and I enjoyed their performances.

Why I rated this film so highly?

Its exactly where and what this film is supposed to be. It seems like it was developed the best it could be. Its always nice to see a mixture of old faces mixed with new ones balancing out the possibly worn out actors introducing new blood to the screen. I was kept entertained through it and thoroughly enjoyed many aspects of this film. If there is a better film out there made at this level I would like to see it.

Thumbs up!

A fun, engaging action flick.
Mischief81030 June 2015
I picked this up from the bargain bin at a local discount store. I wasn't expecting much, but boy... was I pleasantly surprised.

Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Randy Couture all play important, but primarily supporting roles. It's the duo of Gianni Capaldi and Daniel Bonjour in their roles as up-and-coming drug traffickers who are the major focus of the plot, and the two do a more than respectable job.

They are not good guys, although Frank (played by Bonjour) seems to want to become one one day.

Much of the film is narrated by Bonjour, in a fashion similar to what Ray Liotta did in Goodfellas. You really didn't like the character of Henry Hill, and you probably won't like Frank very much, either. But in both films, the narration tends to help the audience understand why these guys are doing really bad things.

There is quite a bit of violence, foul language and nudity in Ambuhsed (aka Hard Rush). Which is pretty much what you'd be looking for in a modern action flick.

The acting is decent, the script is good, the plot is good, the score is great. The pace slows down in a few places, but they don't break anything. Don't pass this one up the next time you're rummaging through the bargain bin.

This movie Hard Rush has also been released under the title Ambushed they are one and the same film a bit confusing for movie buffs,as to the film, its just a run of the mill action movie, as Dolf is ageing maybe his best years are behind him. I have always been a fan of Dolf and Vinnie, but the films of late from these two are becoming a bit to predictable. They are both coming up to there sell by date I,am afraid, Dolf in particular has been around a long time, and I have noticed in a lot of the fast moving shots he is having trouble keeping up, may be its time for him to take the money and run, which I,am afraid he has trouble doing now, pity he has made some very good movies in his time.

Crime, action-adventure film that needed a better script and plot.
suite9223 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Frank starts out with a strip joint in Los Angeles. Frank and Eddie branch out in the drug business. As they attempt to expand in the business, they steal drugs from Vincent Camastra, which was a bad idea.

DEA agent Maxwell gets into the scene and takes over from the locals, including the surly Detective Jack Reiley. Jack has a cocaine habit, and he rousts minor dealers for money and cocaine.

There's a separate, completely bungled thread about Eddie and his straight, non-criminal girlfriend Ashley. She believes his often ridiculous excuses about long absences, strange acquaintances, and odd injuries. Maxwell's on-the-job relationship with Beverly was not skillfully written either. That only served to show Maxwell had an extra motivator for the violent ending: Beverly goes undercover, and her life is at risk.

Vincent convinces Frank and Eddie that he is upset, and demands some money in two days. Eddie tells Frank that he wants to back up to just doing his strip club after they do a job for Vincent. Jack researches Frank, then attempts to hold him up for money in his strip club. It's Frank's club, and he and his bouncers beat the nonsense out of him, take his gun, and shoot him through the hand.

There is plenty of setup for lots of violence to bring resolution.

Will Maxwell and his team get Vincent? Will Frank and Eddie square things up with Vincent? Will Jack get his revenge on Frank? Will Jack's boss at LAPD cut short his career, or will Internal Affairs get him first?

------Scores------

Cinematography: 9/10 Nicely shot; only a little bit of shaky camera work.

Sound: 9/10 Good.

Acting: 2/10 Pretty bad, all around, no real exceptions. A better script would have helped a lot here.

Screenplay: 4/10 Has a beginning, middle, and end. The plot threads progressed to more or less logical conclusions. However, a lot of the dialog is almost campy, and motivations were weak.

For Those With a Tolerance for Ineptitude or a Gun Fetish
LeonLouisRicci26 November 2015
Fancy Screen Splitting and a goodly Amount of Gangster Violence can't really Save the Awful Acting and Worn Out Familiarity Found in this, yet Another, DTV, Bargain-Bin come-on Sporting Three Recognizable Expendable Type Actors Highlighting the Packaging.

It is No Surprise that the Focus of the Movie is more on Two Twerp Leads that are Awkward and Embarrassing most of the Time, especially Our "Henry Hill" like Narrator that Tells the Audience everything They already Know from Seeing Dozens of similar and Better Movies.

The Side Plot of Our Anti-Hero and His Cute and Naive College Girlfriend is Boring and so Badly Written and Acted that the accompanying Writing and Acting can Appear Acceptable. Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones, and Randy Coulter are the Money Magnets for this Slick but Ultimately Doomed DTV.

The Two Lead Actors are so Irritating and Dull that Mentioning Their Names is a Credit Undeserving, Ditto the Girlfriend. However, for Those that Like Cheap Thrills and have a High Tolerance for Ineptitude, this may be Worth a Watch. The Gun Violence is the Best Thing in this Thing, so for Those with a Gun-Fetish, this one's For You.

No More Dolph For Me!
gpxdlr22 February 2014
Dolph, Dolph, Dolph...why did you bother with this? No continuity, the scenes jumps from one locale to another. Your partner insults real DEA agents with his comedic efforts at being an agent. The last scene where the bad guy hot wire a car, can you still do that nowadays? What little we saw of you was okay except the fight scenes where you are noticeably slower now. The rest of the cast were really bad. Most of them couldn't act out of a paper bag. I was in agony throughout but kept watching expecting it to get better. My last film to watch with your name connected with it. just like any film with the Baldwin brothers or Eric Roberts, I know the film is going to s**k!

LOYALTY, RESPECT, AND TRUST
nogodnomasters4 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Frank (Daniel Bonjour) lives the American dream as a strip club owner and cocaine dealer. He has an innocent white bread girlfriend Ashley (Cinthya Bornacelli) who attends college and stays separate from his work. Frank has a partner Eddie (Gianni Capaldi) and Frank desires to take his operation to the next level where he works for Vincent (Vinnie Jones). Unfortunately his crimes do not go unnoticed. He is being followed by DEA agent Maxwell (Dolph Lundgren) and associates. A dirty doughnut eating cop (Randy Couture) is added to the mix.

The plot lacks depth and complexity. This is a straight forward crime/drama/thriller/action film. The talents of Dolph Lundgren are under utilized. Oh wait he does rough up a guy for information...only to brush him off and let him go. We needed Dolph for this? They could have used Betty White.

The sound track was pretty decent and of course Vinnie Jones does a good job in his limited role. The main problem with this feature was that Frank, the main character, was not someone we could root for. About 1/3 of the way through the film he gives a useless narration on the drug industry and the economy which never really ties into the film.

A lower tier rental. Dolph fans can skip this one and not miss anything.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity.

Do not expect to see too much of the two leading actors, Dolph & Vinnie.
ccunning-7358711 April 2021
It is a decent movie. However, do not expect to see too much of the two leading actors, Dolph & Vinnie. They are more like occasionally seen supporting actors. Dolph is showing his age more than his age should indicate. He is not that old but his movements are like someone decrepit and he is almost always fully clothed so he may be trying to hide his physic. He still does a good acting job other than the above mentioned. Most of the movie presents the glitter, wild party high life of the drug & sex industry. The end is more truthful about those dog eat dog, back stabbing, industries. They all either die or are left hurting inside, empty, & broken people, except the 2% at the top who make all the money. Not many redeeming qualities come out in this movie except Dolph, who works hard at his job to try to make the world a better place with no false impressions...

Reviewers and critics
mrrozier27 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I found this movie enjoyable, all around as it was delightfully bad, and that is good because no one watched this movie and expected a Coppola film or anything like that...to say there "is also a lot of pointless and contrived nudity, swearing, and poorly done scenes of people getting shot." Is like watching a cartoon and saying it's animated. The actors are mostly unknown aside from Couture and Lundgren and the director is someone I have never heard of. The visual effects and make-up don't suck, so I am guessing all of the budget went to the two stars and the effects and make-up department.

Anyone who watches this film and can't appreciate it for what it is, should really lighten up...there is no deep story, it is just an action movie.

Tolerable Potboiler about the Coke Trade
zardoz-1327 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Actually, director Giorgio Serafini's actioneer "Ambushed" isn't a bad little B-movie. You've got three reasons to watch this crime melodrama: Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones, and Randy Couture. Of course, Austin's screenplay is hopelessly formulaic exercise in illegal drugs, corrupt cops, and hard-as-nails criminals. Dolph is a veteran DEA agent; Vinnie is a well-dressed criminal gone AWOL from a Guy Ritchie gangster saga, and Randy is a gritty cop on the take. These guys are the main attraction of"Ambushed" and they do what they do best. They kick butt, curse profanely, and strike tough guy poses. Otherwise, Serafini has done a low-budget Guy Ritchie thriller in Los Angeles that benefits from good casting and convincing performances. The secondary leads who are really the protagonists are a pair of youngsters: Frank (Daniel Bonjour) and Eddie (Gianni Capaldi) are up-and-coming cocaine dealers that want to break into the big time. Frank knocks off a couple of coke dealers who work for menacing top thug Vincent Camastra (Vinnie Jones of "Snatch"), and dirty cop Jack Reiley (Randy Couture of "The Expendables") was in cohoots with the two drug dealers. Frank emerges as a quasi-Guy Ritchie villain and he provides momentary narration, while the double-crosses and triple-crosses in the underworld smacks of Quentin Tarantino's movies. The dialogue is serviceable and the big drug bust at the end resembles a watered down version of "True Romance." All and all, "Ambushed" is a tolerably potboiler with a robust cast, brooding atmosphere, and bang-bang action. Bonjour and Capaldi make a charismatic couple of goons.

Well two main titles most confusing. But still a good action film 📼. Plenty of fisticuffs and bad language I really quite enjoy these kind of movies. So. My review six. Jacey

An alright action film
LetsReviewThat2623 April 2023
I feel the score for ambushed given on here is a little harsh. And maybe thats because the script and possibly the acting in some places might not be the greatest. But anyway it was an enjoyable movie with a good cast and the action was alright. Couture plays a bent cop who dosnt really look right for the role but still does well. We dont get to see much of vinnie jones but what we do its always good to see him. And also there is dolph lundgren. He plays a dea agent and is my favourite character in the movie, the special effect were pretty good here aswell. Overall ambushed was an alright action movie with a pretty good cast.
