Naach Govinda Naach review :

A delayed project which started in 1987 and finally made it to the theatres in 1992 only to bomb miserably; Naach Govinda Naach was a rags to riches story of a dancer which was thematically similar to Mithun Chakraborty's Disco Dancer (1982). Only here, it was aapla Govinda in the titular role with Mandakini and Raj Kiran in pivotal roles. Mayur played Karan Razdan's role from Disco Dancer while surprise surprise, Johny Lever acted as a comic villain for the first and last time in his career.

The film would've worked at the box office if the songs were even half as great as Disco Dancer but that wasn't the case. The audience were also shocked (rather aghast!!) to find Raj Kiran romancing the sexy Manda for major part of the movie. She plays Govinda's bhabhi and then appears much later as her 'humshakal' who falls for him. By this time, Bhabhi ji is bumped off in a car accident and then, the doppelganger Manda poses as Raj Kiran's wife to tend to his little daughter while hero Govinda just makes a morose face. Ooff!!!

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
