An overall good movie to watch
tony-thomas225 November 2012
A movie where the script and dialogues are quite frank and real. The movie introduced a few characters whom not everyone would meet up in our day to day life but exists. Trivandrum Lodge somehow has enough rooms to accommodate these characters. A movie delivered a message that every one has their own perspective to the way they look at life and the way they live it. I enjoyed it but certain dialogues are so frank that you may end up feeling embarrassed if you are sitting next to your parents. If you are someone looking out for a great story line, you may be a bit dejected as this is a series of events at least a few of us have experienced. If not you should at least get to experience through this movie. I wish the very best to Anup Menon and team to come up with many more good movies.

Different and Bold

It would be unfair to compare V K Prakash' latest offering 'Trivandrum Lodge' with his earlier 'Beautiful'; both are entirely different films. 'Trivandrum Lodge' may not appeal to as many people as did 'Beautiful' and the family audience may mostly keep away, but there is no denying the fact that the film is good.

There may be critics who'd want to dismiss the film as just another deliberate attempt at the so-called 'new generation cinema' and would thereby tend to overlook the film's plus points. Well, I won't bother about the format as long as the film is good. Why should I?

This movie is different, bold, well-scripted, well-directed and with good performances. Watch it but not with your family.

This underrated spinoff of Thoovanathumbikal is not to be missed!

I avoided watching this movie for long after a friend had given it to me as a present simply because it did not seem to be interesting material. However, one day I happened to put this on and indeed found myself thanking my stars later. The film starts off slowly but once all characters have been introduced, it is a wonderful and engaging ride. The humour is vulgar and crass but funny, every scene is a show-stealer and all the actors are having a ball which can be seen from the charm the movie exudes. Special mention to the child actors, Saiju Kurup and Anoop Menon. Honey Rose looks good too in a deliciously crafted strong woman centric role. Do give it a try, you will not repent your decision. (Watch the film to understand why the heading of this review was named so)

Underrated gem!

Giving a 10 to balance the imbd score. This is one such movie which takes a bold attempt to convey adulthood. Even though there are flaws in the movie, the cinematography is something which needs to be lauded. Right from the start which begins with the piano being played to the end of the movie, everything is beautifully captured. Moreover this movie was breakthrough for actors like Saiju Kurup & Thesni Khan.

Incomplete and Boring!

So, after Molly Aunty Rocks! debacle, I was sitting beside my sister and mother in a theater only to experience ennui till the interval. After that, I was angry.

The movie tells you different stories but doesn't conclude anything. People have acted well, but the plot is too complicated to understand or too simple to perceive. Many unanswered questions go haywire and Anoop Menon should have taken care of it. Mind you, watch this movie only at your own risk.

Non-vegetarian (Indian term for indecent language and meanings) jokes are too many and at times you may feel embarrassed. But they try hard to tickle your bone. Jayasurya is the only comedian in this movie but his character loses pace to the end.

Trivandrum Lodge does not have much to deliver and is just like another story, which if you miss, you won't regret.

Alternative recommendation: Ustad Hotel or Ee Adutha Kalathu...

A missed attempt
cool_andhot14 June 2019
A genuine attempt to make a bold and open movie on human being's sexual desire went totally scattered all over the place. Half cooked characters and weak dialogues made it looked like a B- grade film. Acting was horrible, even Jayasurya wasn't convincing. Anoop menon was mimicking Mohanlal. Only character stood out was Tesni khan. Syju kurup was okay too. 4 star just for the attempt.
