Two Phoenix families may finally get the closure they need. On late Tuesday evening, police arrested 42-year-old Bryan Patrick Miller in connection with the deaths of Angela Brosso and Melanie Bernas, CBS 5 in Arizona reports. Brosso, 22, was killed in November 1992 after she disappeared while biking. Her headless body was later found in a Phoenix park. Similarly, Bernas, 17, vanished on a bike ride in September 1993. Her body was discovered floating in the Arizona Canal. "These two cases shocked our community," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump, according to CBS 5. Police were finally able to make an arrest thanks to DNA evidence.

This is a reprint of our review from the 2013 Fantasia Film Festival. If you're not into niche genre stuff like indie slasher films, Asian action flicks and ridiculously over-the-top monster movies then it's likely that you haven't even heard of the Fantasia Film Festival. For close to three full weeks this international festival descends upon the city of Montreal like a tidal wave of cinematic weirdness. The titles alone speak a thousand words: "Big Ass Spider!," "Zombie Hunter," "Curse of Chucky," "Drug War" etc. So when a movie like Sean Ellis' "Metro Manila" parachutes its way into the program, it almost feels like taking the first breaths of oxygen after a plastic bag's been lifted. Maybe it's the festival widening its range to include the sub-genres of drama, or it could be that they've succumbed to the temptation of premiering the 2013 Sundance Audience Award winner in Canada. Whatever the reason is,...

If Abe Lincoln can fight vampires, I see no reason why Marilyn Monroe can't tussle with zombies, and apparently neither does filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill.
A sequel to his upcoming zombie period feature Lazarus: Day of the Living Dead, Marilyn Monroe: Zombie Hunter is set to be directed by Churchill from a script he co-wrote with Joe Knetter, and will star model, actress and scream queen Sarah French (pictured) as the iconic blonde bomb-shell turned zombie slayer. David M. Parks will produce.
Principal photography is slated to take place in Hollywood, CA, New York state and Washington DC later this year under the Church Hill Productions/Apothecary Entertainment banner.

Well it’s that time of year again, end of year/best of list time! If you’ve been reading this site – or Blogomatic3000 – for a while now you’ll know my tastes are generally a little different from the more mainstream sites and so my Top 10′s are too! And whilst there have been plenty of “worthy” titles to get cinephiles excited, I’ve been finding a wealth of movie gold in the direct to DVD market (my cinematic home).
The usual disclaimers apply to this Top 10 – this is a list of my favourite films of the year, the films that got me excited and the ones that remained with me after the credits rolled…

Official Synopsis: In a California desert town, a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.

Zombie apocalypse movies are ten-a-penny these days, so it takes something special to stand out from the crowd. Luckily Zombie Hunter is one such movie. Set in a post-apocalyptic Zombie wasteland caused by the mysterious street drug “Natas”, the film follows one man (the titular hunter) who runs down Flesh Eaters, hunting for sport and redemption, while also running from his past. After crashing into a small group of survivors, who are running low on resources, he decides to lend a hand. But a surprise attack by the Flesh Eaters forces them on the run and puts the Hunter’s skills to the test…

Moviefone's Top DVD of the Week:
"Much Ado About Nothing"
What's It About? Joss Whedon's ("The Avengers") modern retelling of the Shakespeare classic follows two couples with different takes on romance. Benedick (Alexis Denisof) and Beatrice (Amy Acker) are older and disdainful of their love, while the sweet young Claudio (Fran Kranz) and Hero (Jillian Morgese) are deeply absorbed by their love.
Why We're In: Whedon's "Much Ado About Nothing" is a refreshing and charming take on the classic comedy for its unique blending of the Shakespearian dialogue with a contemporary setting and aesthetic. While it sticks to the original content and doesn't add anything wholly revolutionary, it's nonetheless an entertaining addition to the canon of Shakespeare film adaptations.

*full disclosure: a Blu-ray copy of this film was provided by Well Go USA. Director: K. King. Writers: K. King and Kurt Knight. Cast: Martin Copping, Danny Trejo and Clare Niederpruem. There are just so many zombie films out there. So, new films entering the genre really need to stand out to get attention. K. King's first film as director does not really come across as showy. Instead, Zombie Hunter is a low budget affair that offers a laugh here or there, but the film's campiness removes any real tension. The film comes across as very awkward and artificial. Zombie Hunter might find a small audience; but, this film watcher felt it was more of a disappointment. The film begins with the character known as Hunter (Martin Copping). Hunter is alone in a zombie apocalypse and he has outfitted himself a la Mad Max. His V8 Interceptor is more Trans Am,...

Over the past few weeks we've been keeping you updated on the expanding lineup of titles being added to Montreal's Fantasia 2013, the largest genre film festival in North America. Now that the list is a lock and the curtain is set to rise tomorrow night, we thought we'd gather up our own list of the Fantasia screenings we're most curious about. Katz's mind-games thriller Cheap Thrills; some titles like V/H/S/2 and the psycho-thriller Magic Magic are seeing their theatrical, DVD and/or On Demand premieres this month, and Adam Wingard's You're Next screens at Comic-Con tonight. But there are still plenty...

The Fantasia Film Festival is taking place from July 18th to August 6th in Montreal and will feature over 100 films from around the world. We gave you a look at the initial lineup last month and now have an additional list of Fantasia 2013 films that will be screening, including Curse of Chucky, You’re Next, and Frankenstein’s Army:
Horror Is Child’S Play – Don Mancini’S Curse Of Chucky (World Premiere)
A rarity among genre franchises, the Child’S Play series (begun in 1988) has retained the sure-handed guidance of original screenwriter/creator Don Mancini throughout killer doll Chucky’s decades’-long reign of horror. Mancini, who will be hosting our “scar-studded” world premiere, graduated to the director’s chair with 2004’s Seed Of Chucky, after having co-written or written every entry in the series. His longevity with the project is, of course, matched by the fiendish voiceover work by...

Kevin King's Zombie Hunter film is an homage to '70s action flicks as seen in the film's first trailer. In the clip, the Hunter (Martin Copping) drives a vehicle that is reminiscent of Mad Max's V8 Interceptor. The protagonist comes across much like an anti-hero, which is also similar to George Miller's original feature. As well, the trailer hosts similar imagery from a horror classic. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is given some attention as a man swings a chainsaw about. He wears a grisly mask much like Leatherface in the 1974 feature. A young woman, of course, is his target. Why do killers love blondes so much? Zombie Hunter will release in 2013 and horror fans are encouraged to check out the film's first trailer here. Release Date: 2013. Director/writer: Kevin King. Cast: Martin Copping, Danny Trejo and Clare Niederpruem. Producers: Chris Le, Rocky Mudaliar, Jason Faller, Kynan Griffin,...

Fact: I will watch a Danny Trejo movie regardless of how inherently awful it is. And while I happen to think that director Kevin King’s undead opus “Zombie Hunter” actually looks pretty good, he should know that his film is guaranteed at least one viewing in Kentucky simply because of Trejo’s involvement. I don’t really care if he only has one line and a wink — that’s all it really takes to please me. Strange, but definitely true. Here’s a synopsis for those who aren’t hep to King’s flick: “Zombie Hunter” follows the vengeful Hunter in his journey through the post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested wasteland. Killing in the name of the family he lost, he teams up with a group of survivors and face the deadly mutations that challenge their survival. “Zombie Hunter” stars Martin Copping, Clare Niederpruem, Jade Gordon, Jason Wixom, and, last but not least,...

The first film poster for Kevin King's Zombie Hunter was released in late 2012 and now, several production photos have been revealed. The first photo shows actress Clare Niederpruem (The Maze) as Alison. Alison appears hunted by an unseen character. The second photo shows something equally exotic. A zombie or zombie-like character, in full armour, wields a chainsaw. This villain appears ready to cut through the cast and the film's story. The story for Zombie Hunter follows a vengeful Hunter (Martin Copping). This Hunter lays waste to the zombie killing fields as he links up with other survivors of the zombie apocalypse. View the stills for this feature below, with a trailer coming soon for this exciting thriller. Release Date: 2013. Director/writer: Kevin King.
