Movie without Logic

This is the first movie I am watching in theater after many years gap.

1. Lot of logical fallacies, the hero uses Google Maps explorer etc in the movie but then uses a local phone to call her! Why can't he just video call her from PC when he has high speed internet connectivity?

2. No one from the family is aware of both their antics.

3. Till first half it's ok but after that its way to laggy and repetitive. Also the hero's acting needs to be improved. Malvika has outperformed in the acting department even if I just ignore the glamor quotient.

4. Christy is always unsure to speak anything out during critical points of the movie and continues to interact with Roy even though she might not like his likeness.

5. Roy seems to be making palace in the clouds having superficial belief of how immigration checks works and how his love will end up.

6. Overall it felt like the main hero is a dumbo who tailed behind the actress to a flight ticket to Mali.

7. Nothing comes out of the climax and its super unconvincing.

They should have made the climax along the lines that Roy realises his mistake and starts his own venure/ job at Mali ignoring the actress and having made peace that such an relationship would never work and they are just good as mere friends. Instead I feel they wanted to portay like love is blind. Here i would opine the movie didn't show love is blind , but more like love is foolish.

With two major names in the Malayalam literary world - Benyamin and Indugopan - sharing screenplay credits, I wouldn't call it wrong to expect greater depths to the protagonists, a well-etched romance, and some situational humour. But Christy is flat from start to finish; its positives include a soulful score by Govind Vasantha (who infuses a 96 hangover to several scenes) and aesthetically pleasing shots by Anend C Chandran.

Mathew Thomas is okay in the initial portions where he has to play a confused teenager in love with an older woman, but the writing leaves him absymally ruined in the second half. Malavika Mohanan is extremely photogenic, but her dialogue-delivery needs to improve. The dubbing is also bad, and her Malayalam comes off as a bizarre blend of Payyannur slang and an NRI accent, with forced Trivandrum phrases added in. As the titular character, we barely get to know what's going through Christy's mind in various phases of the film. This includes her failed marriage, her thoughts on Roy's abrupt proposal, how she feels about being held by the waist and kissed reluctantly, what she thinks about having to move away from home, and so much more.

Everything that could build to a solid character arc is brushed aside to portray a version of Christy that smiles 99% of the time, courtesy of romanticized clichés such as sudden rains, beach waves, bus rides, and everything customary. Roy's immaturity in love is somehow passed off as something unconditional and great, especially in that tame final act playing out at two different airports. Since the complexity presented here is technical rather than emotionally-affecting, these scenes fail to leave any sort of impression. The bigger blame, no doubt, should be directed towards the bland writing. Also, a Trivandrum-based film strictly needs more Trivandrum-based actors.

Very average move that lacks entertainment quotient

A dull movie that crawls at snail pace lacks vigor and entertainment. Christy's character lacked maturity considering her age and education in contrast with that of Roy. Dialogues lack vibrancy.

Story had a good crux, but missed the opportunity to picturize it well. The conduct of the ground handling staff and immigration personals are bizarrely friendly and accommodating that's contrary to reality.

Had the movie cut short at least by 30 minutes, it wouldn't appear so dull.

Mathew's acting is very monotonous and he conducts himself quite the same way I all the movies I watched of his. Casting can be better.

Rubbish movie... more like teleserial !

What a horrible ploy? This is not the first time teen or younger male, has fallen in love with an older woman. There have been many movies of this concept, most notably Love Story; which set off a lot of copycat scripts.

The whole plot seemed contrived, dont know if it is direction/screenplay or the acting. Mathew (Roy) expressions these days are so repetitive - nothing different from what he has done in his first movie. Malavika (Christy) did a better job, but she too was very robotic in many sequences.

It appeared, everybody acting in this movie, were forced to perform. Even some of the character artists, parents, neighbours etc., all seemed like they were doing someone a favor.

Luckily i finished it in half the time, forwarding literally every scene. Painfully slow shot or dragging scene plays.

Malavika killed her character, Mathew also an average performance still better than Malavika

Casting should be better.. It was like short story and lagged too much, only towards end was better.. Malavika is worst actress, casting can be more better.. An the narration was also too boring.. Dialogue delivery also not fitting.. There was experienced actors but direction was complete failure.. Good thread can be executed in a better way.. Background score and music can be better more dialogues and screenplay can be done.. I have seen it through OTT, if it's watched in theatre then that may feel paisa lost feeling, Malavika Acting is not ur job u can criticise Nayan Thara, better u watch urself where u r standing.

Christy movie is about the real life story so maybe it's ending is not like everyones expectations but if we talk about the movie so song are good and teenagers may be like this movie there are look some weak direction and some inreal things but over all I feel it's affect me i don't know why but I listen the song on repeat though I don't know the Malayalam movie is over all ok ok if direction was good so it become a more good and acting of two main actors are over all good there is unexpected twist in end so that's why people got hate but I think if it is reality ok so over all this movie is ok.

Few movies hit you differently and I found this one of them!

I loved the movie, period! It leaves you with a feeling that can't be described but felt. The longing to be with someone or someone's love has been portrayed beautifully. The character of Roy who's carefree amd unaware of the practicality of this world vs. That of Christy's who has seen how hard and cruel reality is. The director in my opinion was successful in depicting that spark when we fall in love and at the same time the helplessness. The ending is also perfect. Not everything needs to be spoonfed to the audience. We all can have our own opinion on why Christy didn't accept it in the end. The last shot on the beach was just amazing. Roy was heart broken but he was holding the camera gifted by Christy...in a way she was with him.

A Relatable Story Well Visualised!!!!

Christy was a movie that had amazing visuals. I loved the shots and the journey in roys life. Poovar song that depicted the actual life and beauty of Kerala was enchanting.

Christys character was well played by Malavika. Loved to see her onscreen and I would vouch that she did real justice to the role.

Govind vasanthas music was amazing, couldn't stop playing the tracks of all 3 songs and is still on top list of my all-time favorites.

Maldives and it's visuals were captured at it's best.i am sure many agree anands talent is remarkable and he has proved that yet again.

Overall script well laid out, character well played with amazing visuals and evergreen music from govind has made this movie a must watch and repeat watch in my list.this should be seen in theaters to get the real feel and be lost in the selfless love that many can relate to.

Amazing Movie worth watching more !!!!

Christy was one movie that i waited to get into theatres. I followed the songs and was at the audio launch in lulu. Trailer had amazing reach with over 5 million views.

Experiencing the movie at the theatre was thrilling. I have to say the visualisation of poovar and maldives was amazing.poovar is one beauty we keralites havent explored to its potential. I loved the music and the flow of the story .literaly mesmerised by the way story was narrated. Mathew and Malavika did fabulous job ,they did great justice to the characters. Climax was very touching. I am sure many could relate to this story.

Loved to watch again with family at theatre.
