Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2024 is missing a certain amount of original series firepower. In the place of a blockbuster like The Handmaid’s Tale or Shōgun, however, is some content diversity.
The first of the month sees the premiere of four-episode British series Shardlake. This mystery drama takes place during the reign of Henry VIII and features none other than Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) investigating a murder. Other series of note this month include the Korean drama Uncle Samsik on May 15.
Movies are bit more interesting on Hulu in May. Teen comedy Prom Dates premieres on May 3. That will be followed by the 2023 Adam Drive film Ferrari on May 24. Before all that though is the real heavy hitter. You can watch Austin Butler’s acclaimed performance as The King in Elvis as early as May 1. But get to it quick before the Baz Luhrmann film departs on...

It’s a fairly packed month on Hulu this February thanks to the addition of some interesting TV shows from FX and ABC. While the streamer’s own original content is somewhat limited – Life + Beth is returning for season 2 – you can also catch the new series of Feud this month. The new installment in Ryan Murphy’s juicy anthology show is based on the bestseller Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer, and tells the story of Truman Capote’s betrayal and fall-out with New York’s most glamorous socialites. The cast is absolutely stacked, with Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny and Calista Flockhart all swearing delicious revenge on Tom Hollander’s Capote.
Also via Hulu in February comes the third season of Abbott Elementary, along with new episodes of The Connors, The Good Doctor, Will Trent,...

We might be entering the dog days of summer but Hulu isn’t slowing down. The streamer’s list of new releases for August 2023 is a pretty impressive collection of content.
The biggest Hulu original this month is season 3 of true crime comedy Only Murders in the Building on Aug. 8. This time around Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are joining the already-stacked cast that features Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This season’s central murder appears to take place at a theater (outside the building) but I think we’ll let it slide.
That’s far from the only worthwhile original in August as Aug. 2 sees the premiere of the third and final season of superb comedy Reservation Dogs. That will be followed by South Korean sci-fi series Moving on Aug. 9, Solar Opposites season 4 on Aug. 14, and A Murder at the End of the World on Aug. 29. Of course,...

“The Great” returns to Hulu for Season 3 on May 12. Elle Fanning portrays Catherine the Great, desperate to turn Russia into an enlightened nation, while Nicholas Hoult plays Peter III, her libertine husband. HGTV has ordered 13 series and three pilots, including new shows from Leanne and Steve Ford, Luke Caldwell and Clint Robertson, and Lara Spencer. Plus, an “International” version of “My Lottery Dream Home” is being readied from across the pond.
Additionally — but definitely not “finally” — Clinton Kelly is getting his own house-hunting series.
“We’ve locked in a solid lineup of creative, innovative and entertaining programming to inspire people who want to reimagine their homes,” said Jane Latman, president, HGTV. “This is just the beginning. We’re taking scores of pitch meetings, reviewing hundreds of concept reels, talent sizzles and social media sites–looking for imaginative real estate, renovation and design experts who are pushing the envelope with their distinct points of view.”
“This order of new series and pilots will focus on stories of home and the families who live in them,” she continued. “All of our stars will offer...

“And that’s the way we remade the Brady House…” chimes the theme song of “A Very Brady Renovation,” the upcoming Hgtv series that follows the recreation of the classic TV set inside the L.A. property which served as the home’s on-camera exterior.
It’s just the latest stop as the nostalgia train keeps on, keeps on, keeps on moving long after “The Brady Bunch” wrapped up its initial five-season run in 1974. The series has spawned spin-off shows, movies, albums, a variety hour and a cartoon, not to mention the millions of dollars of merchandise sold around the series. But this latest update proves far superior to any “Brady Bunch” lunch box.
“This has been a special one because we didn’t have to play Bobby and Cindy — we could be ourselves. And it’s the 50th anniversary [of the premiere],” “Brady Bunch” actor Mike Lookinland explained to reporters at the...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.
This week’s question: What is your favorite reality competition show? Why? (Current and older shows apply.)
Allison Keene (@KeeneTV), Collider
Ready, set … relax! It’s “The Great British Baking Show” (or “Bake Off”), of course. It speaks to the very heart of my Anglophilia, but I’m also someone who doesn’t normally watch any baking or competition shows. I am, however, a devotee of “Gbbo” It is perhaps the most serene and happiest show on television, and so different from American (or even UK) series of a similar vein. The judges are hard but fair, everyone is so encouraging, and there is never a desire to humiliate anyone. “You are usually so good, you just let yourself down a little,” is the worst one might hear when presenting a disaster of a showstopper.

Fans grew concerned when they didn't see Lara Spencer on Good Morning America yesterday morning — so, did she leave Gma? Not exactly, but you might start seeing less and less of her on the small screen, and everyone at the show is reportedly happy about it. "Staff are relieved that Lara’s schedule is being cut back," an industry insider told Page Six. "She treats staff badly, she yells at people and she makes a lot of extra work for people." It was reported that the 48-year-old is pulling back from her current role to focus on new and unique career opportunities. But sources said she doesn't bring much to the morning series' ratings and it was actually the network that cut back her airtime. "Lara’s good at her job," the source added. "But it’s not like the [ratings] are affected when she’s not on [the show]." (Photo Credit: Getty Images...

“Good Morning America” co-anchor Lara Spencer is best known for her bubbly personality on ABC’s flagship morning program but has quietly built a media empire of her own. The 47-year-old Spencer, who just won two Daytime Emmy Awards for “Gma” and Hgtv’s “Flea Market Flip,” now executive produces six reality series on a variety of cable networks through her Duffkat Media banner. “I love that people think I’m happy-go-lucky Lara and that’s great, but there is another side to me that is a stone-cold businesswoman,” Spencer told TheWrap. “It would be cool for people to know...

Flea Market Flip Season 2 premieres 9pm Et March 15 on Hgtv. Even if it wasn’t her job to be there, odds are Lara Spencer would still be spending plenty of Saturday mornings rummaging for unique items at yard sales and flea markets. But Spencer, whose day job is cohost on ABC’s Good Morning America, turned her lifelong love of antique shopping into a popular side gig with Flea Market Flip, which is about to return for a second season on Hgtv. The concept is the same — two teams scour a flea market for an item to buy, fix [...]...

Sure, we're looking forward to spring's warmer temps and gorgeous flowers. But there's another big reason we're eyeing our calendars: the start of flea market season. To get into the bargain hunter mindset, we spoke with Lara Spencer, lifestyle anchor on Good Morning America and creator and host of Hgtv's “Flea Market Flip” about the show's upcoming second season premiere, her best go-to tips for thrifting and her favorite antiquing haunts.
"The concept of the show is simple," she told us. "It's one part treasure hunt, one part design and one part competition show." Each episode takes place at a market, where teams of two are unleashed with $500 and a list of specific items to hunt for that they can reinvent and resell for profit. For example, Spencer tells us "they may need to find a piece that has really good bones, and is solidly built, but it just needs a new life.
