After a series of action films and out-and-out comedies, Ajay Devgn’s next will be a contemporary Rom-Com to be written and produced by Luv Ranjan, who has earlier directed films like ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Akaash Vani. With a quirky take on urban relationships, the film will have Ajay in an edgy space that resonates with today’s youth. About showing Ajay in an all new avatar, Luv says, “The way I see it, it’s the side of Ajay that comes most naturally to him. His uber-cool personality in real-life has seldom been explored. There is a subtlety in his humour that blends perfectly with my writing.” To be produced by Luv with his partner Ankur Garg, the film will mark the directorial debut of noted editor, Akiv Ali. The critically acclaimed and award winning editor has more than 30 films to his credit, including ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Barfi!

Luv Ranjan who has just delivered a walloping surprise success at the box office with Pyaar Ka Punchnaama 2 is in no hurry to carry the franchise ahead. "It took me three years to put together a sequel. It may take me another three years or even more to come up with another Punchnama film," confesses Luv Ranjan, as he gets set to celebrate the film's success with his producer Abhishek Pathak, cast, team and friends on Wednesday with a party. "Its a small unplanned celebration for those who cared for our film and believed in my belief that successful films can be made without big stars," says Luv whose previous film the seriously-toned Akaash Vani about a marital misalliance was a box office failure. But Luv Ranjan is undeterred by the suggestion that a non-Punchnama film may not work at the box office. "The fear of the unknown cannot turn...

Subhash Ghai is known as the Showman who has transformed actors into Bollywood stars. Before Kalicharan in 1976, Shatrughan Sinha was looking for that one elusive hit and once the movie released he became a sought after actor. Jackie Shroff was introduced with Hero which straightaway catapulted him to stardom. Even Anil Kapoor was acting in a string of ensemble casts before Meri Jung saw him once again as a full-fledged hero. Sanjay Dutt made an excellent comeback with the Ghai film Khalnayak after a long hiatus.
Subhash Ghai’s Kaachi, releasing on the 6th of December, is a musical drama and is the story of an innocent rural beauty under fire and her fight against power.
Kartik Aryan, seen before in Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Akaash Vani, is being personally groomed and mentored by Subhash Ghai himself. He is also working with industry veterans Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty in the movie.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Akaash Vani actor Kartik Tiwari will soon be seen in Subhash Ghai’s Kaanchi. As a new comer in the Hindi film industry, Kartik is willing to do anything as long as the role demands it, as the actor puts it. “It depends on the need of the story, script and character. If I feel fully connected to the character, then why not? I think like a real person and what he would do in that given situation. As an actor, you have to be free and can’t afford to be shy. You have to be besharam. I take my profession very seriously so I don’t have any doubts regarding characters I play”. Kaanchi also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Mishti and Rishi Kapoor and is slated for an August release.

In one of the film's high dramatic moments shot on a small deserted railway station in the night, the film's protagonists, now estranged by an unfortunate series of circumstances, sit on the bench and... well, they sob. Is the independent film directed by a fresh talent and featuring names that are not the marquee rulers here to stay? Judging by the curiously heightened appeal of this Friday’s release Akaash Vani, one would think that the small film with under-exposed faces has finally found its bearings towards the box office.
Some would say sophomore director Luv Ranjan has bitten off more than he could chew by pitching his love story Akaash Vani, starring two semi-newcomers, straight against this year’s first purported blockbuster Race 2.
We have it from a very reliable source that Akaash Vani producer Abhishek Pathak and director Luv Ranjan took the decision of pitching their film directly against the Race franchise, rather than coming a week earlier to avoid a clash.
The earlier plan was to release Akaash Vani on January 18 when Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar was due. But when the core crew saw their end product,...
