One of the advertisements visible during the Riot Race reads "Blue Milk" in Aurebesh. Another sign translates to "Your Ad Here". A third sign, only partly legible, includes the words "Lease", "First 10 Days" and "No questions asked".
Four of the Riot Racers are droids. Haxxon "The War Gnome" Trajanix is a repainted Commando Droid. "Quick-Draw" Quasar has the body of a protocol droid and the head of a B1 Battle Droid, not unlike what happened to C-3PO in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002). "The Trickster" Flash Raktor and "Hyper" Rod are both brightly colored protocol droids. A fifth racer called "Vicious" Vid Santari is mentioned but not shown on screen.
Grini Millegi is a Dowutin. This species was first seen in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) in the form of Grumgarr, who was present in Maz Kanata's Castle. Millegi employs a Gamorrean and a Trandoshan as bodyguards and his champion racer Jet Venim is a Nosaurian from the planet New Plympto. This species was first seen in the form of Clegg Holdfast, one of the Podracers in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999).
An Aqualish wearing the same outfit as Kenner's 1979 "Walrus Man" action figure can be seen on the streets of Safa Toma.
