Exclusive: Bryce and Jackie Zabel’s Stellar Productions is teaming with fledgling La production and management firm Alta Global Media on TV series Captured, based on the landmark 1961 alien abduction case of Betty and Barney Hill.
The project will chart the story of the interracial couple from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, who said they were captured by a UFO on the night of September 19, 1961. The story of the black postal clerk and white social worker who claimed to have met extraterrestrials became a media sensation, and culminated in a 1975 made-for-tv film starring James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons.
The project was previously set up by Zabel (Atlantis: The Lost Empire) with Gotham Group as a film but now has new life with Steven Adams (A Huey P. Newton Story) and Theo Dumont’s Alta, which launched earlier this year with clients including Pedro Alonso (Money Heist), Gary Dourdan (CSI), Tamara Tunie...

The highlights were many at this weekend’s annual Peach Music Festival at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The jam, rock, country, and bluegrass summit featured sets by Marcus King Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, Billy Strings, and Maggie Rose that embodied the spirit of community that distinguishes the Peach. On Sunday afternoon, Warren Haynes and Grace Potter reinforced that sense of musical camaraderie with a collaborative set rich in covers.

When Ted Sarandos said over the summer that Netflix’s young adult film “The Kissing Booth” was “one of the most-watched movies in the country, and maybe the world,” ears pricked up across the industry. The comment from the Netflix content chief underlined that the Ya audience, far from being lost to TV, is tuning in. But the rules of engagement are different.
“The critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave us 13, but the audience [rating] was at 82 at one point,” says Andrew Cole-Bulgin, chief creative officer of the “The Kissing Booth” producer Komixx Entertainment. “There’s disconnect because most of the critics are in their 40s and it’s not aimed at them.”

“All I can say is Do Not Watch will live up to its title,” producer J.P. Ouellette states of the project. “You’ll wish you heeded the warning. This is evil personified. No doubt the most terrifying script I’ve ever read.”
Ouellette, who co-wrote (with director Joe Arias) and produced the upcoming horror flick Captured, is set to produce the feature Do Not Watch with fellow Captured producer Dylan Matlock. While specific plot details are currently under wraps, the production team state that they "aim to turn [the genre of] found footage horror on its head" and that the script for Do Not Watch "reinvents the genre, as it delves into the depths of the human psyche, showcasing the effects of reckless curiosity."

Retreating to a small indie after last year's largely disappointing Conan, Marcus Nispel started shooting Backmask last week. And the star? Brittany Curran will be doing the screaming.Curran's best-known for her TV work on TNT's Men Of A Certain Age, but she's not a stranger to horror either: she had a role in The Uninvited, and just finished shooting Captured. Here, she's part of a gang of teens who play a record backwards (older readers will recall these items as an elderly music format from ye olden days) and release an evil spirit that posesses them one-by-one. It's Rob Halford! We jest.Nispel, of course, previously made the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and the 2009 Friday The 13th instalment, so this won't be the first time he's slashed up some teenagers. Curran may want to keep in favour with him, since he'll next be looking for a feisty female lead...

We’ll let readers know when more specific release information becomes available.
Synopsis: “A weekend getaway to shoot a music video turns into a nightmare for a Rock’n Roll band when they become the crazed obsession of an escaped convict. Departing home in an old decrepit van, packed in with all their instruments and dreams, friendships and lives are about to be savaged by an unsuspected betrayal.
