Sweet and funny.
happydorkette16 October 2023
I found the Hallmark movie "Field Day" to be a sweet and funny movie, full of friendships, grieving and love. It was a nice spin on Hallmark's normalcy's. With lessons in loss and love. Love that also included seeing the special relationships that come from the love from friendships. Funny bits along the way that included life lessons. It was nice to see a movie where you have kind female friend groups. Friends that except each other for their flaws and don't give up on each other. Recognizing that If your circle is not clapping for you, find a different circle. I found the movie to be simply delightful.

Alright way to kill some time

Rachel and Benjamin are sweet in this. But something didn't gel with the story of their falling for each other. I got that initial attraction but then the drama of going on a date then it not being a date and then the next scenes.. all a stupid plot.

What works in this is the friendship of the three women, lovely how they came together and forged something meaningful and lasting. As a non American I didn't get the big deal of Field Day. We called it athletics in my day and it was run by the school and I don't recall any mothers organising any part of it. They seem to have too much influence on school activities in this film - is this the norm in the States?

8.0 stars.

'Field Day' has a bit of everything that can fit into a story. First and foremost it's a lively experience. The three ladies kinda share the lead role, although Rachel Boston is clearly the actual lead. As they go from "cold shoulder" and distant acquaintances to best friends right before our eyes, the transition is seamless and natural. They must navigate speed bumps along the way, but it's all genuine and realistic. Secondly, the main theme is an uplifting story about a woman (Boston) who lost her husband a couple years back and how she and her teenage daughter are adapting to a new place. Thirdly, there is a gradual and endearing romance that buds and it's just the right amount of subtle flirtation, yet quite entertaining in it's own way. Both romantic leads radiate a significant level of chemistry between them. Fourth, there is a lot of activity going on amongst families and friends, intertwined with the school setting and activities, PTO, fundraisers, moms competing for accolades...Finally, there are intermittent social media, dancing, and other entertaining side plots that form the complete package of what any great Hallmark film should be.

This is must see adventure that is vibrant, interesting, and engaging. What really stands out is the dialogue, which to me is possibly one of the best I've ever encountered in a Hallmark film. The puns and jokes are clever, the humor is witty, the conversations are refreshing and thought provoking.

It's a good movie

Field Day is a charming Hallmark movie! The leads are lovely together, two of my favorites. Benjamin Ayers working at the school; Rachel Boston being roped into the PTA. You know they'll end up together, but it's fun seeing them get there! Some of my favorite scenes with Benjamin Ayers were 1) him spinning the basketball on his finger 2) him getting dunked in the dunk tank. And Rachel Boston's baby makes a cameo in the movie (awe). And the supporting actors! These ladies really steal the show. The girl friendships here are great fun to watch - and they seem to get as much screen time as the leads!

Friendships
icarreau15 October 2023
A fun and refreshing Hallmark movie, written by Julie Sherman Wolfe, about friendships, new beginnings, the ups and downs of PTO (parent teacher organization), family, and love... featuring some day drinking with the girls and a New Kids on the Block song ;)

Rachel Boston delivered a fun and sweet performance as the lead character. Matt Clarke, even if appearing a few minutes, delivered a poignant performance in a touching scene. Carmel Amit and Shannon Chan-Kent complete the unlikely trio of moms having to organize Field Day at school and it shows through the screen that the three ladies had fun shooting their scenes.

This Hallmark movie is unlike what we usually see as the friendship between the three ladies is out front and center, and not the love story between Boston's and Benjamin Ayres' characters.

This is a must watch if you are a Hallmark or rom-com fan.

I love Rachel Boston and I really enjoyed Carmel Amit in this Hallmark offering but I am not sure that I appreciated the back and forth nature of this romance.

This was more about friendship and day drinking than romance I felt, one having appeal to me...the other not so much. The story pitted three PTA outcasts against...I don't know, the cool moms? Widow Jen does not have it all together when she drops her daughter off at school and forgets her lunch...leaves the car in her pajama bottoms which is how she ends up in the forgotten PTA meeting and being mocked on social media. She also ends up on the "leftovers" committee putting on field day with workaholic lawyer Marissa Morris and social influencer Kelly Stewart...who's afraid to show her real life. They attempt to build a romance between Jen and the P. E. Teacher Dan...but it's on and then off and then on and then off, frankly I lost interest which is too bad since I really like both actors and have enjoyed them both in other films.

Again this is more of a girl power, day drinking friendship kind of film...you might enjoy it if that is what you are looking for, but I can't in good conscience recommend it to my fellow romantics. I think they would be disappointed. Maybe it's intended for young modern moms? This may be me showing my age...but we were all about cooperation, hard work, getting the job done and making things truly great for the kids. Love the actors, but I am sorry to say not a recommendation from me.

One of Hallmark's better movies
barbara_flannery17 October 2023
I really like the mixed variety of plot threads in Field Day. The show empathizes the value of friendships and how friends can carry you through tough times. The movie focuses on three woman and allows each to face struggles, receive support from each other and grow. It has a nice warm feeling! The women show understanding, emphathy and strength. They are supportive of each other especially against the mean moms but they also have "can do" attitude that I really like. The friendships don't take away from family time or the importance of family but rather weave family members into the story easily.

Yes, of course, there is the typical girl meets boy plot but it takes second place to friend ships formed. I've watched it twice now and really like the character development.

Don't miss this one, it's different and fun.

Very juvenile but great actors
kjc-3220519 October 2023
All the actors are phenomenal and charming but the storyline that should have been incredible falls short on screen. The dialogue and situations are so incredibly juvenile and seems more like it was written by and for middle school aged kids. This is not an adult rom com. From the pajama pants, to the "you like me," to the kicked out of the clique, to the eavesdropping moms. It's just one childish situation after another. The actors are great and I was so looked forward to this movie, but I caught myself on several occasions checking to make sure I hadn't wandered onto the Disney channel. This one is not a golden star.

Fun and Entertaining Movie
patti09815 October 2023
I loved this movie. The three main characters have great chemistry. Yes at times it can be a bit cheesy - but I think all Hallmark movies can be. I enjoyed the women navigating real life struggles. For a few hours it is nice to be taken up into a story with a happy ending. It is funny that another reviewer wished they could have the 2 hours back they put into the movie. I usually can tell right away if I am into a story. This movie came on at the perfect time for me - I so enjoyed watching the interaction of the characters. I laughed and particularly enjoy Rachel Boston . I would even like to see a sequel to this movie and see the three women have another adventure together.

Field Day is a home run!
SarahLovesRomance16 October 2023
I really enjoyed this movie. It's well-written with a great balance of light-hearted and deep. Benjamin Ayres and Rachel Boston were great together. Both are fabulous at comedy and tender moments. Kudos to the casting directors for this great pairing. I loved the friendship storyline, too! There is a mom new to the state and school, a mom who struggles with work life balance, and a mom who seeks her worth on socal media. All of the storylines were well thought-out, balanced, and relatable. One of my favorite 2023 Hallmark movies!

Field Day is a great movie about love, loss, family, friendship, navigating the PTO moms at school, parenting, friendships, and an uncle who pours into his niece.

Warning: Spoilers
First of all I am a hopeless romantic so if that isn't your jam my review may not be for you. Autumn is a beautiful time of year sweater weather, beautiful seasonal colors and of course pumpkin spice!!!! I just thought this was a delightful fall movie for the Moms out there!! Fall is also school time which brings it's own daily drama with the PTA and Drama Moms that can be challenging. This movie actually offers more because it deals with the resilience to carry on in life after dealing with loss whether it is the loss of a spouse or a friendship. The location, story and actors were all wonderful with all the Fall feels!

Since this is Hallmark-Romance Rules!!!

Just lacking
MyContribution17 October 2023
I just cringed at most of this movie. The plot and dialogue seem like a show on the Disney channel aimed at 13-year olds. The premise looked promising, but fell flat. The characters were annoying stereotypes. The love interest was okay at best. The antics were predictable and grossly unrealistic. Over all, it failed to make the viewer care about any of the characters or their relationships. There were a couple funny or thought-provoking one-liners, but far too few to make this a film i'd recommend. It failed to capture the charm of the genre. If you are absolutely bored and just want to pass the time. . .

Loved this movie
d_keil15 October 2023
The chemistry between the actors was excellent. It was a real life relatable movie. I laughed and cried. The friendship that developed between the three women was amazing warm and believable. And to see two people each with their own past issues be able to meet and fall in love was heartwarming. Nice to see that no matter what you can find love and friendship again. Benjamin Ayres and Rachel Boston were fantastic and made a great couple. I loved the story and how it was presented. Wardrobe and set amazing and real. The corn maze part was funny and I am sure many of us have been in that position. I will be watching this again.

Hallmark Pablum

Warning: Spoilers
There is no cohesive plot here. It looks like they were writing this movie as they were filming it. The story meanders and in the end there is no purpose for making this movie - it is just fluff.

I like Rachel Boston, but she keeps trying to make the same movie: Divorced mom with teen daughter wanting to hide from the world even though she suddenly has a great guy in her life that is crazy about her. Friends try to encourage her to start living again. Previous movies, Delaneys, had more direction and purpose.

They built the whole movie around planning Field Day at daughters school. War and Peace this is not.

Heart Warming Movie
Coconuts0616 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has everything you want from a Hallmark movie and more. The female friendship is the true love story of the movie and tells the story of how hard it is to make meaningful friendships as an adult. And throw in a New Kids on the Block song and I was more than happy! Benjamin Ayres is always sweet to see on screen and Rachel Boston gives such a heartfelt performance. They had great chemistry! There is also lots of laughs and fits all the requirements for a good fall movie. Fall fashion, fall activities and set in New England. There was even some snow! This is the perfect movie for any Hallmark fan.

Feel Good Fall Movie
lisamlaucsr18 October 2023
You pretty much can never go wrong with a movie or show that Rachel Boston stars in. She's top notch and always delivers. The addition of two other leading ladies (Shannon Chan-Kent and Carmel Amit) makes this movie a real treat. Their characters' back stories made sense and fit with the plot, and all three of them more than held their own as a group and individually.

By the end of the movie, their very palpable chemistry had me rooting for their common cause (to save Field Day), as well as their friendship. Benjamin Ayers is one of my favorites and an added bonus for me.

I'd love to see a sequel to this just for the leads alone, no matter what the storyline is. When some lead actors left for GAC, I wasn't at all worried because Hallmark has a very deep bench and needs to tap into it more often. This movie proves that. I really enjoyed seeing Amit in a lead role and Chan-Kent was perfectly cast. Well done!

It took me a few days to watch the movie in peace. This movie has so many emotions. It's about finding good friends, loss, divorce ,being able to move on, finding love again, standing up for yourself and family. I like this movie relates to real life. People struggle to move on after a loss of any kind. The movie reminds us that it can happen. I love their friendship, they have their ups and downs but they are there for each other. Then the mean girls i am happy someone finally stood up to her I can't say enough about this movie. Thank you all that made this movie so special...................

So much fun!
Racingphan215 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Disclaimer: I'd watch Rachel Boston read the phone book for two hours. She's still one of the cutest stars in the Hallmark roster.

It's delightful here to watch her character bond with other Mothers in the PTA that are so much different than her.

Benjamin Ayres from Saving Hope makes his 900th Hallmark movie appearance. As usual, he does a great job as the male lead.

Did I say how say how awesome Rachel Boston is here? She just absolutely breaks your heart as her character watches a video of her dead husband.

The only problem I have with this movie is that it takes place on the first week of school, but there is already snow on the ground. WTF?
