When I sat down to watch the 2022 Hong Kong movie "Hu Ran Xin Dong" (aka "Love Suddenly") here in 2023, I had never actually heard about the movie. But the fact that it was a Hong Kong movie that I hadn't already seen was sufficient for me to stop and sit down to watch it.
"Hu Ran Xin Dong" from writers Chun-Ho Cheung, Hei-Man Fu, Si-Yan Ho and Edmond Wong turned out to be an okay enough movie. It is a romantic comedy that follows the entanglements and relationships between several room mates. While it wasn't a particularly outstanding or memorable movie, then it should be said that it is good enough for a single viewing.
I wasn't at all familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, except for Tat-Ming Cheung, but I will say that the actors and actresses put on good performances. It was refreshing to see so many new and unfamiliar talents on the screen.
While "Hu Ran Xin Dong" was watchable and enjoyable for what it was, I have to admit that I will never return to watch it a second time. Simply because the storyline doesn't have enough contents to support more than a single viewing. There is no replay value to director Ho-Pong Mak's 2022 movie.
