Excellent interview John Fitch!
jean-236-93462829 July 2012
The interview with John Fitch is worth the price of the DVD. John talks about his experiences during the actual racing. He claims he could never have been the passenger because "the passenger is always a pessimist and the driver the optimist."

There is lots original footage along with Dr. David Scully giving his explanation of why the original race ended in 1954. Today the race lives on as a tribute race called "La Carrera Panamericana."

Don't miss the pig story from Sharon Baker who was a member of Bill Stroppe's team who drove for Lincoln out of Los Angeles.

Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lincoln, Lancia.

Steven Mitchell's laid back interview style works well with the subjects interviewed in this documentary.

An inside look at an incredible race
kira-gurnee6 August 2012
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The collection of characters who actively participated in the race were very engaging and Stephen's interview style made you feel as though you were sitting there in the living room as part of the conversation. Some of the stories from the drivers were truly unbelievable, such as how they could not see where the road would turn up ahead due to all the spectators standing in the middle of it. It kind of makes you yearn for the good old days of less government controlled "safety measures" in all respects.

And yes, there are some great shots of the cars that didn't make the turns, for those that enjoy good carnage. ;)

Overall it was a wonderful peek into a legendary race that makes you wish you had been able to see it or participate in it.
