A rare indie gem
herissonspikes9 January 2019
This film moves, it's not like those boring, slow indie films. It's a collage like film, different than lots of the stuff out there. Loved how it captured the spirit of the creative process despite all the self-doubt the main character goes through.

Unlike a lot of indies out there with mumbling, white 20 somethings, this film's cast is inclusive and diverse. It shows what New York City looks like today in a refreshing and non-trumpeting way. Wallabout carried me on an intimate odyssey through a very contemporary, gentrifying and arty Brooklyn. Something about this scrappy but beautifully shot film conjures up 70's films that were often set in a gritty NYC. Genres collide but this movie manages to keep a consistent tone while mixing the personal journey of its anti-heroine with a noirish and at times thriller-like atmosphere.
