Mission Successful...!!!
PANDIAN12062115 March 2024
An engaging pure crime action thriller,Director Vijay seems to be completely out of his comfort zone in delivering a Real Pongal winner...Even though the plot was predictable There was never a moment that took eyes off the screen...With his long time associate Gv prakash supportive bgm the movie keeps you glued until the end...

No unnecessary songs are added & characters are well placed indeed everyone gave best performance very connected to story with the help of flawless screenplay...

Arun Vijay fits exactly for this role and have been careful in choosing scripts that's getting him yield good results over the past years...No added goosebumps moments is a minor set back to the movie...

The two ladies in the lead Nimisha & Amy Jackson dis apretty decent job in elevating the movie... The film wants to completely ride on its action elements so no tracks had been added for comedy or romanticize & director was crispy enough not to even reveal the heroine face too...

Overall a decent one-time watch that's way better than other Pongal releases.

South Indian Cinema visits London to recall Amy Jackson - a fail-safe attempt by Vijay
Vetrrich_Chelvan17 March 2024
'Guna must rescue his daughter from a terminal illness while also protecting his country from terrorists in London' would be a one-line summary of Mission (Chapter 1? Seriously Vijay?).

A mix-match of Thandavam, and many Hari films, we get an 'I have seen it before' kind of film, except the part, where it is mostly shot in London (or Ramoji Film City, who knows). 'Mission' must have solely relied on North Indian or Andhra markets as the scope of the patriotic-action-adventure genre of films has become limited in Tamil Nadu. That being said, it is not a complete waste of a film. Vijay's efforts in story-telling have not gone unnoticed, for there are no musical numbers to interrupt the story with vivid characterization, where supporting characters get to have their spotlight moments - which they spoil with their lack of intelligence but we will come to it later. The stunt is cool, especially with an action sequence with Nimisha at the end of the film that I really enjoyed.

Amy Jackson was a pain to watch on screens, especially her Tamil. Vijay should understand that it is okay to let the actors speak dialogues in their languages and later dub that in Tamil, instead of telling an artificial story where everyone speaks Tamil. Typical cliches of commercial cinema were excruciating to watch, even for my father. Guna fights ten people at a time, Guna falls in the canal but somehow doesn't drown, Guna must always take the spotlight and be the only character with common sense, Guna, a person with a sharp intelligence somehow misses his purse now and then, Guna doesn't see a snitch from miles away but can smell out all the other criminals, and so much more!

A stereotypical Punjabi 'friend' who also speaks Tamil, too many dialogues that are cringe, an unwanted flashback, a weak antagonist who is short of manpower at all times, a stupid child that doesn't live up to its hype, snitches being snitches for about 70% of the film without getting caught - you could list the drawbacks of Mission: Chapter 1 in a complete roll of toilet paper and still you might have some points. In my opinion, Vijay should have trimmed Mission around 90 minutes and the storyline should have been sharp.

To conclude, Mission might be embarrassing to watch for some, and exhausting for many, but it is still a decent attempt. 2.5/5.

An infuriatingly mind numbing embarrassment
isaacsundaralingam12 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In Tamil cinema, for every step in the right direction, there's always a pointless 'Mission: Chapter 1' to walk us a couple of steps back. Arun Vijay and Amy Jackson star in this bloated, cliche-ridden excuse for a movie, with tropes already exhausted by the early 2000s.

Arun Vijay stars as Guna, a jailer (yes, we're still on that jailer craze, apparently) who visits the UK with his daughter, suffering from a serious condition of plot-convenience disease, for her surgery. He accidentally gets incarcerated in a maximum-security prison facility where a terrorist plot to break out three other Jihadist inmates is being executed. Guna teams up with the 'ever so reliable to be a horrible actress' Amy Jackson, the jailer in that particular prison facility, to help save the day.

Every single thing about this movie is so cliché that it's infuriating. With each character introduction, it's easy to predict who they are and how they will affect the script. We have the obligatory backstabber, the obligatory mindless brute, the obligatory cute child, the obligatory helpful friend, the obligatory nice guy who dies (what a surprise), and the obligatory terrorist who wants to destroy India because, well, boo India, I guess. From characters to conflicts to story beats, it's all a predictable mess.

This is my first visit to the cinema this year, and boy, what a horrible start. The worst thing about it is that it's apparently 'Mission: Chapter 1,' meaning there's at least one more 'Mission: Chapter -' to go. I just hope this movie bombs so hard that the plans for a sequel are just flushed down a toilet, never to see the light of day.

Irritating screen play
durais-6196317 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's our luck didn't watched the movie in theatre,it's like old 1980s movie plot.... Screen play is not good, Predictable, When they started with 10 rs cash,we can say when this note will create problems, When we saw his friend in jail,we can predict he will die for his friend, very irritating screen play...Arun Vijay might avoided this movie... don't go for chapter 2, Nowadays all are having guns, being terrorism based movie,no guns are used, fight with their hands, I don't know whether they done discussion with the team... atleast her daughter character is good, even when they leave from hospital kept inside ambulance later terrorist also on the same vehicle, just irritating scens...

Best Film
lusupasanga23 January 2024
I would say this is the best film I have seen in recent times. Everyone has acted very well. I will definitely watch this movie again, it's so great. It's very interesting. It's also a great movie. It's a movie that makes you expect what's next. Definitely this movie is a great movie that you can watch as a family. Everyone come and watch this movie. This movie is a nest level for Arun Vijay sir. This movie is definitely next chapter 2. It will be even more amazing. I am waiting for it. The best movie that came to Pongal in Tamilnadu is the movie Mission. This movie is very good. Many people don't know about this movie. I went and saw it late at the time of its release. I liked it very much. We are very happy to have given such a great film in our Tamil cinema.

Mission Impeccable
natureboy-8490719 January 2024
Chapter 1 of "Mission," one of the two Pongal releases I eagerly anticipated, the other 1 being "Merry Christmas." Arun Vijay consistently selects compelling films, living up to the expectations of his audience. This full-length action movie showcases his dedication to maintaining a robust physique, fitting seamlessly into his role. Director Vijay, known for choosing international location, keeps us engrossed throughout. The plot, though not entirely novel, surprises with well-scripted scenes. Unique attempts are evident, especially in the action sequences. The initial part feels lacking, sounding like a foreign movie dubbed in Tamil, with the BGM disappointing initially but improving later. Surprisingly, the score is by GV Prakash. With minimal songs, which suits the genre, Amy Jackson somewhat fits the role but lacks the cop's physique and attitude. Nimisha Sajayan's role from Mollywood lacks impact, while Abi Hassan fits well. The young actress Iyal delivers a commendable performance, along with the rest of the cast. The screenplay maintains a fast pace, though the film could benefit from some trimming for a crisper experience - still, it's worth watching than the rest.

A culmination of tropes that were already milked in the early 2000s
arju-kettavan9316 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm glad I did not watch this in the theatres.

Here are the things that annoyed me the most:

1. Bad dubbing for the brits.

Except for Amy, I don't think any other actors were dubbed for by English voice actors. The Indian accent seeps through in almost all scenes that has a Brit in it.

2. Arun Vijay the super-human

The man literally pulls apart the main water supply pipeline with his bare hands (or maybe using the chain helped?)

He then locates exactly under which drain each one of the escaped prisoners are and pulls them with such strength that they fly 5 feet up in the air.

3. Tamil speakers everywhere

Somehow everyone speaks Tamil. I mean I get Nimisha speaking Tamil and her character was done right with broken Tamil mixed with Malayalam. Her brother somehow speaks broken Malayalam for someone who seems to have grown up in Kerala.

Then there's a Singh who speaks excellent Tamil (Hindi theriyadhu poda?)who is conveniently Arun's cellmate and even more conveniently releases the very next day.

Somehow the cop who proposes to Amy seemed to understand their Tamil conversation when the villain comes on-screen in the prison.

AL Vijay found great success in the early 2000s and is somehow still stuck there with clichés from that era.

Nothing new, totally waste of time ⏲
senthilthiyag21 March 2024
Nothing new, everything same old formula movie , even fighting scenes are unbelievable, in a fight using water to find and other fight using chilly powder they way the shot is too bad, direction team should have concentrated on something new to add to the plot of the story to make it interesting and not just believing inthe stunts will make a movie worth to watch totally media core. Wasted my time, can't sit in the end fast forward the end section and there is nothing to write it for 600 words so like the move my review too is not good, next time hope director vijay will come up with a good full package.

The real pongal winner
kalaivanicuteheart4 February 2024
Extremely good acting by Arun Vijay. He carries the movie throughout. Sure this movie would bring him so much fame. Incredible story and direction. Amy's Tamil sounds too good to listen to. Her action sequences could have been better. It was obvious she was pretending to beat. Baby has also acted so well and is damn cute. They hooked us into the story effortlessly. It's a great theatrical watch, an action packed thriller I wish I watched this sooner. Beautiful location choices at London. The jail sequences, hospital sequences and the bus fight scenes were good. No wonder Lyca has backed this project. This movie deserves an even better success!

Decent and Good Crime Action Drama
prithiviramthirupathy19 January 2024
#MissionChapter1

Engaging Pure Crime Action Drama. Simple story but Good Screenplay. Director AL Vijay came out of his comfort zone and gave his best work. Arun Vijay Sir, well presented his acting. Amy Jackson, Nimisha and Others artists suited perfectly to those characters. They performed well. GV Prakash Bro's BGM kept us connected throughout the film. Stunts choreographed nicely. Everyone's work glows well in terms of technical aspects. Absence of songs and unwanted scenes found plus. Slightly predictable and less twists were some of the things that made to lose the grip of the film. Overall it was a good and decent entertainment to watch along with the family. It looks to be a good franchise. I hope this film does well at the box office in the upcoming days.

#Mission.

Its just awesome
wavefaster15 March 2024
I start to watch just because i love Arun Vijay's acting but the film is far different than most indian movies. All the time a feel that can make you attract "what will happen next" especially after the prison entry start. The emotion of father daughter touched, Amy jackson is good but could be better more. Arun Vijay always deliever a different and good story. Story tell about a father how he can sacrifice everything for his country at the same time how he manage to save everyone. If this is Chapter 1 then will definitely wait for the Chapter 2. Plus point is not any unnecessary songs are added. I gave 5 stars for Story and 5 stars for Arun Vijay.
