Poor acting hurt this story.

The message was heartfelt, but the acting was awful- forced and stiff.

Heart Warming and Thought Provoking

Hiding in Plain Sight is a story that may not be very foreign to those reading this review. A tale (based on real experiences) of a family effected by the recent economic crises. Kelly O'Neil Jackson gives a riveting performance as Darius Blackmon...trying to make a way for his wife and two children. Its a story of true love, compassion and faith. This is a MUST SEE movie. You will leave the theater with a sense of gratitude but also a true need to do for those less fortunate. Beautifully directed by M. Legend Brown. He has proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Get out to see this film and request that it be screened in your city! --- MUST SEE/NEED TO SEE---

god Awful!

Warning: Spoilers
With such a high rating I decided to watch this movie.

Have I watched the same movie as you?! Seriously?!

Terrible acting. Sounded like a good storyline but too many instances that would just not happen in real life.

You wouldn't take your children with you to live on the streets if you had family who could help.

They were living out of their vehicle (which must have run on free gas!) for 6 months before they approached their mother for help.

When the homeless Mum approached her Mother to confide she had previously mentioned she had plenty of leftovers but yet no mention of accepting them for the kids when she left.

Also why didn't the homeless Mum go have a shower at her Mothers before going for interviews?!

If the boots were the answer to all their troubles then why didn't they ask family or their church for this small token of help.

$500 at a church service?! Does this really happen?! If so why aren't churches providing room for their homeless with the amount of money they are making.

The other family who were also homeless received a hotel voucher and simply disappeared never to be seen again. This would not happen, you would never turn your back on people going through the same experience of troubles, knowing firsthand how awful it is.

When their free gas running vehicle was broken into... who would sleep at night with all vehicle doors unlocked?!

Utter nonsense.

Burn the bible I say and save your $500 for your family.

Powerful Story
soulxpressionz17 May 2013
Hiding in Plain Sight touched my Heart Soul and Spirit. Words, I pulled from this incredible story...God, Family, Love, Unity, Faith, Believe Trust and triumph (Words to Live By)- Let Go and Let God!!!! (Powerful Life Changing Words) This movie makes you stop and Think, as well as Appreciate what you have in your life at the present time, because at any given second, it all could change. In today's economy, Who can't relate to this story? Education and a man's Love and Care to make a Difference. We need more of this in the world today. There was struggle in each part of the movie, even with the family that seemed to have it all. BUT when you also have Trust, Understanding and Compassion, it changes things. Sometimes, I wish people could see through the eyes of those living in despair. Although this story had a happy ending, not every story will, but that doesn't mean....Give up. "Let Go and Let God!!! Oh one more Word...."BOOTS", who knew hearing the word Boots would be a tear-jerker! I give this movie 5***** You my dear, you poured every emotion you had into it, your energy was so strong, down to your facial expressions of pain. Kudos to Sharice and the rest of the cast, you all were simply... AMAZING AMAZING!!! AMAZING!!!

A eye opening film with a great message.

Hiding In Plain Sight tackles a tough topic that needs to be heard in America . The aftermath of the recession still exist.

M. Legend Brown creates a film that reminds us how close to home this can really be.

This film shows a very honest side of reality and how sometimes your comfortable surroundings can take a turn for the worst. This families faith is tested beyond the boundaries, but in the end their strong will leads them through the storm. Definitely a film the whole family can watch and learn from.

No matter what color you are we can still be Hiding In Plain Sight.

Great Film for the Entire Family!

"Hiding In Plain Sight" is a socially conscious, accurate, well acted, written and directed film by rising indie film director M. Legend Brown. It tells the true-to-life story of a working class family of four. The film recants the tribulations of the Blackmon family, a middle class, educated working family who fall on hard times and through the cracks of our American society. Without making a political statement or blaming anyone, it tells the real life drama currently playing out in our cities and communities to real-life families. It is shown via engaging and compelling characters in a narrative style format. Performances - Along with a great and charming turn by film and television icon, Irma P. Hall, a solid performance by lead actor Kelly O'Neil Jackson with an exceptional, break-out performance for newcomer Sharice Henry Chasi in the role of Josephine Blackmon. In total, Hiding In Plain Sight, is definitely a must watch!

Heartwrenching, yet encouraging.

My husband and I attended the September 15th viewing of "Hiding in Plain Sight" and absolutely enjoyed it. It wasn't just about select families falling on hard times, rather it was about so much more. It fleshed out the stories of "real people" living day to day...that had...at some point and still do...the same dreams all of us on the other side of homelessness possess. We felt for these characters, emotionally and spiritually. It shed a serious light and gave pause for an even more serious dialogue for how close we ALL are to homelessness and what each of us can do...from our own vantage points to help remedy this ever-growing epidemic. Do yourself a Huge Favor and Go See and Support this Worthwhile Film!!!

Hiding In Plain Sight Review

To see the real struggle of the Blackmon family on the screen was amazing. So many times in life when we are obedient to God, we find ourselves facing challenges. It makes us question God and our path. The Blackmon family held on to their faith and each other. The bond between this husband and wife was to be modeled. The circumstances didn't tear them apart, it made them stronger. M. Legend Brown pulled out of these characters emotions that had a lasting effect on me for weeks. This movie portrayed the inner struggle of Christians in a way that was familiar to many of us. This is the story before the glory yet it's hardly ever shown. Kudos to the cast and crew for putting together such an awesome movie!!
