Plenty of Americans would be perfectly happy never to hear the name Anthony Weiner again; some will never tire of it, especially the last part. But Sundance has never had a prohibition against political docs delivered years after people might be asking for them (see, or don't: 2013's The World According to Dick Cheney; 2014's Mitt), and the thing about Weiner is, it would be a captivating tragicomedy no matter what year it came out. Trumped-up scrutiny over what Elyse Steinberg and Josh Kriegman's film has to say about Hillary Clinton will flit away — despite co-starring one

The great beyond--or, maybe, the almost-great beyond--is getting some real screen time these days. There was "Heaven Is For Real" earlier this year, about a young boy who visits heaven during an emergency surgery. And now there's "If I Stay," the Chloë Grace Moretz starrer about an aspiring musician sent into a coma by a terrible car accident who undergoes a day-long out-of-body experience and must decide whether or not to return to the living. The film's been in the works for a few years since an adaptation of the best-selling source novel was announced in 2010. Dakota Fanning and Emily Browning were both considered for the lead role before it went to Moretz, and two directors (Catherine Hardwicke and then Heitor Dhalia) were attached before R.J. Cutler (the documentarian behind "The September Issue" and "The World According to Dick Cheney") was handed the baton to head for the finish line.

Exclusive: Director-producer R. J. Cutler has signed a first-look development deal with CBS Television Studios for scripted projects. The deal formalizes Cutler’s relationship with the studio where he has worked on several projects, including directing last season’s drama pilot The Ordained. “We’ve had such a great time developing material over the past couple of years that it just seemed a natural transition to make CBS Studios my scripted television home,” Cutler said. “Can’t wait to get started on creating a new series together.” Cutler most recently had a first-look deal at Lionsgate TV, where he executive produces the studio’s sophomore ABC drama Nashville (whose pilot he also directed). Cutler will continue as Ep on the series if it is renewed for a third season, as expected. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker (The War Room) and Emmy-winning television producer (American High) also has a first-look deal at Showtime for documentaries.

One of the hardest documentary approaches to wrap your head around is the one in which the filmmaker goes to a lot of trouble to show you that beyond the public facade of a subject matter, the previously unseen reality is... exactly what you already thought you knew. I got into multiple good-natured fights last year with R.J. Cutler, including an amusing back-and-forth in the snow on Main Street in Park City, about whether or not the former Vice President's stubbornness in "The World According To Dick Cheney" was a lack of introspection or a display of self-conviction and how...

If former Vice President Dick Cheney has faults, he hasn't made himself aware of them.
In a trailer released Wednesday teasing an upcoming Showtime documentary about Cheney's life, the controversial former veep answers a number of personal questions, including, "What do you consider your main fault?"
After a lengthy deliberation, Cheney proves unable to put his finger on anything.

Cheney also claims that his favorite virtue is "integrity." He says he appreciates "honesty" and takes particular pleasure in fly fishing.

Park City — Critical (though never aggressive) in its script but a pushover in the interviewer's chair, R.J. Cutler and Greg Finton's The World According to Dick Cheney offers a respectable summation of the former vice president's career but reveals little if anything we don't already know. A film that would need to offer insight, new facts or provocation to make sense at this moment in history instead has a single effect: To ratchet up expectations for Errol Morris' forthcoming Donald Rumsfeld picture, with the hope-against-hope that Morris, who has elicited so many self-revelations in his

Looks like we wont have to wait as long to see the return of Dexter! Showtime has announced that the series will return to TV earlier than normal. Season 8 will premiere on June 30th at 9pm, and will serve as a lead-in for the cable networks new crime drama Ray Donovan. It was previously a lead in to Homeland. I've also heard that Season 8 will in also be the last season of the show, which is sad, but we knew it would eventually have to come to an end.
The early return of the series has not affected production on Dexter. Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said, “There is no less production time, just a little less vacation time between the seasons.” He also said that the drama’s producers and cast had received enough lead time to adjust to the scheduling changes.
Here's a rundown of the rest of Showtimes 2013 schedule thanks to Deadline.
