Judge Ryans : Do Mr. and Mrs. Broadbent have legal representation here? And you're representing the adoption agency.
Fay Hopkins : Yes, Your Honor, my name is Fay Hopkins.
Judge Ryans : Miss Hopkins, do you have any information regarding the Broadbents' absence?
Fay Hopkins : No I don't.
Judge Ryans : Under normal circumstances I would proceed as planned, however in light of the recent homicide at your agency, and the family's failure to appear today, would you like to postpone?
Fay Hopkins : Not at all, in fact the couple's absence confirms what I've suspected for quite some time.
Judge Ryans : What's that?
Fay Hopkins : That the Broadbents are unfit parents, we were wrong to trust them with Mona, and I believe that as long as she's in their care she's at risk. I've taken particular notes of the paranoia demonstrated by Cheryl Broadbent, I quote her saying, "We believe this man murdered Dr. Zeigler and we're worried that you might be next." These are the baby's immunization records, as you can see she's still at risk for hepatitis and meningitis. During a home visit I saw mysterious bruises on the child and the parents claimed she fell. Here's an application for a gun permit filed by Mr. Broadbent six months after they adopted the baby, that same week a local man filed a restraining order against Mr. Broadbent for stalking his home.
Judge Ryans : It seems the Community First Adoption Agency has made an oversight. In light of your testimony, I see no choice but to revoke custody. Miss Hopkins, do you have any objection to this ruling?
Fay Hopkins : No, Your Honor.
Judge Ryans : Are there any other circumstances I should be made aware of? The Court transfers custody of the baby Mona back to the Community First Adoption Agency, under your care, caseworker Fay Hopkins.
Fay Hopkins : Thank you, Your Honor.
Judge Ryans : I'd like a squad car sent to the Broadbents' home. If the baby's not there we'll issue an Amber Alert.
