The Concert for Bangladesh: The Making of the Album (2005)

*** (out of 4)

At just around five-minutes this thing certainly doesn't feature anything that you'd consider a masterpiece but fans of the album should get a kick out of it. Bhaskar Menon, head of Capital, is interviewed about the controversy getting the album released as two different companies were fighting for who would get to release it. He talks about the various issues with so many artists on an album and each artist was with a different company. We also get an archival interview from George Harrison on the Dick Cavett show where he talks about how frustrated he was over the greed going on by the companies when this album was supposed to be for the victims. The featurette ends with footage of Ringo Starr at the Grammy Awards picking up the Album of the Year award. Again, there's nothing great here but I think fans of the film and the album will enjoy hearing about this bit of controversy.
