Stranger in the City

10 minutes into the film, the audience watches a tramp examining a hat that he has found in a litter bin in St. James's Street. He initially rejects it in favour of his existing old and battered hat before changing his mind. It's possible that the joke was inspired by the proximity of Lock & Co., the world's oldest hat shop, which is just a few yards away from where the scene takes place.
