- Laurel represents Oliver, when he is arrested by her father for murder. Subjugated to a polygraph test, Oliver recalls his struggles against Deathstroke on the island.

Charged with several crimes including murder, Oliver gets Laurel Lance to represent him - she doesn't think it's a good idea but agrees when he refuses to take on anyone else. Confined to house on bail and having to wear an electronic ankle bracelet. Oliver has his own plans which will not only set him free but stop arms dealer Leo Muller, one of the men on his father list. Flashbacks reveal Oliver's early days on the island and his first encounter with Edward Fyers whose main interest is primarily Yao Fei. - Police detective Quentin Lance finally can arrest Oliver and get him house arrest with an ankle device based on security videos suggesting he changed into the green Arrow hood. Diggle must now, in his place, counter arms dealer Leo Muller, one of the fiends on father Queen's list, who awaits a major shipment soon. By refusing any other legal representation, Oliver gets laurel to take his case. To get more then bail, another Arrow strike while he's disabled may be crucial. Walter transfers the wrecked yacht, Moira confers with the suspicious city crime cartel chief.—KGF Vissers
- 5 YEARS AGO -- Oliver goes to pick up a rabbit Yao has killed and is grabbed by three armed men in masks and stuck in a cell in the ground.
In present day we see Oliver arrested. Through voiceover, he is confident that he has a way out of this mess.
Lance interrogates Oliver. Oliver assures him he's not a vigilante and has an excuse for being caught on video going into the bag with the hood. Moira and Walter show up and tells Lance the interrogation is over until their attorney arrives. Oliver wants Laurel to represent him.
Moira tells Laurel that Oliver has requested her and won't accept representation if it isn't her. Laurel doesn't think it's a good idea.
Oliver shows up at his arraignment without counsel. The judge advises against it. But once the subject of bail comes up Laurel enters the courtroom and helps him get home confinement. It's clear Laurel doesn't think Oliver could be Arrow.
Oliver has a tracking bracelet put on his ankle. He also wants to host a party at the house to prove he's okay with what's happening.
Laurel argues with her father over going after Oliver. He references Sarah and Laurel says Oliver isn't to blame.
Oliver tells Diggle that what happened with the video was intentional. Oliver tells Diggle about Leo Mueller, a German arms dealer who has arrived in town with military-grade hardware. He wants Diggle to track Mueller and figure out where the buy is happening.
Diggle has access to Oliver's Arrow hideout. He picks out some toys for his mission.
Walter meets with Josiah Hudson, the head of Oliver Consolidated's security, and tells him off the record that he has an assignment for him. He explains that he found the remains of Robert's yacht and wants Josiah to move them to a secure location. When Josiah wonders what's going on, Walter admits that he doesn't know yet.
The prosecutor tells Laurel and Oliver she'll consider a plea of insanity provided he agrees to spend time in an asylum. Oliver wants no part of it and says he'll take a polygraph in front of Lance. Oliver tells Laurel if he fails the polygraph he'll consider the deal.
Another flashback to the island: the mercenaries take Oliver to their commander, a man named Edward Fyers. Oliver tells him he'll be well compensated should he be rescued. Fyers shows Oliver a picture of Yao wearing a military uniform and asks if he knows him. Oliver lies and says no and Fyers picks up on it. Fyers summons his masked enforcer, and tells Oliver that he will suffer for not cooperating. Thea tells Oliver she's worried about how he's been acting since he returned from the island. He assures her isn't the Arrow person.
Moiras business associate, Malcolm, is concerned about the investigation into Oliver. Moira assures him that the charges against Oliver are false, but he suspects that Oliver is hiding something. During the polygraph Oliver flashes back to his interrogation on the island. He passes with flying colors and we see him being tortured by Deathstroke. Lance asks about his scars. Oliver said he wasn't alone on the island and admits to being tortured. Lance then asks if he's killed anyone: "Yes," is the answer, though he's talking about Sarah. Lance still isn't going to drop the charges.
During his party Oliver tells Diggle he wants him to dress up as Arrow and stop the arms deal. Diggle doesn't like the fact he was lied to but agrees to do it. Walter is told the Hudson was killed in a car accident.
Laurel apologizes to Oliver for how Lance acted. She tells him that after her sister died Lance threw himself into his work and her mother ended up leaving. She says she used to hate him, but is now starting to think about what happened to Oliver on the island. She wants to see the scars. He shows them to her and she is stunned. He says he survived because there was something he wanted more than death. They start to kiss but then Laurel pulls away and runs out.
Oliver flashes back to the island. Fyers begins to suspect that Oliver does not have the information he wants, and orders Deathstroke to kill him, but Yao breaks in and knocks Fyers out. Deathstroke attacks him, resulting in furious martial arts duel. The two seem to be evenly matched, but Yao manages to subdue Deathstroke long enough to escape with Oliver.
As Mueller cuts a deal with a street gang for his weapons, the lights in the warehouse go out. As Mueller and his men drive away with the weapons, Diggle takes on the gang members and knocks them out.
Walter tells Moira about finding the boat and the security chief dying. He's doesn't trust her. She doesn't want him to look into it any further.
Diggle calls Oliver to warn him that Mueller got away. While Oliver is on the phone, a man posing as a butler tries to kill him, and the tracking bracelet is broken in the ensuing scuffle. Lance comes in and shoots the attacker. Lance tells the family he's not sure who attacked Oliver. He then takes off the ankle monitor because the vigilante was spotted across town. Oliver thanks Lance.
Moira meets with Malcolm again. He was the one who went after Oliver, thinking he was the vigilante. He also had Hudson killed. Moira warns him that if he touches anybody in her family she'll take him down.
Another island flashback. Yao Fei takes Oliver back to the cave and admits that he's impressed that Oliver didn't break under torture. He reminds him to breathe, gives him the pouch, and heads out to hold off the mercs, sealing the cave mouth with an explosive before Oliver has a chance to follow.
Laurel brings Oliver the polygraph. It turns out there was a slight flutter on an answer she knows he lied about. Oliver says if she knew what happened to him on the island she would look at him differently. He tells her there's no way he could possibly aim a bow and arrow, as he's suffering from what happened to him on the island. She says nothing can ever happen between them and he agrees.
Oliver and Diggle talk about him lying to Laurel. Diggle doesn't think Oliver realizes the impact he's having on his family. Oliver says he thinks about it all the time.
Walter tells Moira he will be flying to Australia on an extended "business trip," he doesn't know how long he will be gone. Lance drowns his sorrows in a bar, and is picked up by Laurel after he has too much to drink. Oliver, back in his Arrow guise, corners Mueller and tells him he has failed his city.
