An underrated 80s animation

Warning: Spoilers
A obscure animation from the eighties, directed by Phil Austin and Derek W. Hayes (Director of the Madonna's whimsical music video Dear Jessie, and the stop motion Jesus Christ movie The Miracle Maker)

This might be one of his darkest, most violent works, despite the seemingly innocuous aesthetic, heavily reminscent of Tintin comics.

Surprisingly enough, said aesthetic works pretty well with the science-fiction thriller plot, without any moment resulting ridiculous or over-the-top, disregard of the exhuberant visual imagery displayed here.

Without being preachy, it manages to deliver its message in a pretty convincing manner about the way in which armies and the military treat soldiers, dehumanizing them, leading to a nightmarish twist ending where "the perfect killing machine" is revealed in all is unstoppable horror.

A more than worth-watching short, which deserves far more recognition.
