Werewolf bikers, one might think they would be fairly common in movies, but apart from Hellhounds I can only think of a couple. There’s 1971’s Werewolves on Wheels, which has more to do with Satanists than lycanthropes and more recently High Moon, where a gang of old west werewolves find themselves in the present and saddle up on more modern iron horses. There’s also Bikers vs Werewolves being promised for later this year, but that’s it.
Hellhounds gets off to a start, or should I say starts, that are all over the place. We’re introduced to three separate sets of characters with no clue as to what the connection is. A woman chased down and abducted somewhere in the desert. A member of the Hellhounds biker gang tracked down by a bounty hunter,...

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is teaming up with Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid ) for an untitled werewolf western, and I couldn’t be more excited for it!
We don’t get enough good horror/supernatural westerns, so when I see something like this go into development, I can’t help but get excited to see it. López recently talked with EW about the project saying:
“Yes, I have a movie with Guillermo del Toro, who not only became a champion of that movie but said, ‘What are you going to do next? Let’s do something!’ I could not believe that. So, we’re prepping a werewolf movie, a supernatural Western. It’s a werewolf-Western! I’m super excited.

Colt (Chad Michael Collins)—a gunslinging werewolf slayer from the old west—mysteriously rises from the grave, only to find that the band of werewolves that brutally murdered his wife are still running rampant generations later. Aided by a beautiful widow (Chelsea Edmundson), a skeptical town sheriff (Matthew Thompkins) and a corrupt Mayor (Sean Patrick Flanery), Colt must face off with the bloodthirsty creatures once again to save a sleepy southern town from destruction.
Let’s face it, horror westerns are Very difficult to get right. On one side there’s dross like Gallowalkers, then on the other there’s brilliant films like 2014′a Blood Moon. Though, honestly, the bad often outweighs the good in this particular genre, which is probably why High Moon decides to forgoe its Western origins and sets most...

For our first week of home media releases for the month of July, we are starting things off with a modest assortment of titles making their way to both Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday. For those of you who dig action flicks, Escape Plan: The Extractors hits both Blu and DVD on Tuesday, and be sure to check out We Have Always Lived in the Castle, which is an adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s haunting novel.
Other releases for July 12th include Robert Reborn, High Moon, Soul Reaper, and Nightmare Shark.

High Moon aka Howlers is a film from Josh Ridgway (The Sector). Recently, the film debuted on Digital platforms. Now, High Moon is set to show on DVD, through Distribution Alliance, Archstone Distribution - among others. The film involves a werewolf slayer, from the Old West. He is still tracking down his werewolf prey into the present. But, these bloodthirsty werewolf bikers might be too much as Colt struggles with a corrupt mayor and disbelieving sheriff. Also, the film boasts a large cast, including: Chad Michael Collins (Sniper), Sean Patrick Flanery (Saw 3D), Chelsea Edmundson (Daylight's End) and Matthew Tompkins (Sicario). All of these filmmakers unite for one of this year's better, indie thrillers. The DVD release is slated for July 2nd. On this date, the film will be available on Amazon. Director Ridgway has talked about this release recently. He says of the film and its blending of genres: "yes,...

Here are three of the best albums of 2019 so far. Two of them are surprising and heartening resurrections by American bands who deserved better in their first lifetimes but haven’t given up. The third is bold prog-rock violence from Norway by a band with nearly three decades of mayhem in their discography but is still too much of a secret in this country. May the silence end here.

Despite the various hiccups it encountered during the development of Destiny, Bungie’s first project after parting ways with Microsoft ultimately became a hit with shooter and sci-fi fans the world over, but it didn’t reach retail without its fair share of criticism. Besides a seemingly fractured and disjointed narrative, what became most apparent, following the new IP’s release, was a noticeable lack of activities at end-game.
Given its nature as a quasi-mmo/shooter hybrid, keeping Guardians’ lust for new content satiated was always going to be a continual process, but Bungie wasn’t always able to keep up with demand. Limited-time events such as The Dawning and Festival of the Lost, while welcome, did little to keep returning players hooked in the droughts bookending expansions like The Taken King and Rise of Iron, but that’s all going to change for Destiny 2, according to Activision.

Back in 2007, writer David Gallaher and artist Steve Ellis released High Moon online, introducing comic readers to a tiny Texas town in the Old West where things with sharp teeth went "bump" in the night. Now, nearly one decade later, Papercutz's Super Genius is celebrating the latest full moon by resurrecting the werewolf Western comic series.
Super Genius announced that they will release two remastered graphic novels of the pre-existing High Moon comic series, as well as a third volume of new stories that will finish the series the way Gallaher and Ellis intended. The first volume, High Moon: Bullet Holes and Bite Marks, will be unleashed this October, while the second volume is slated for a May 2018 release, followed by the new third volume. With a loaded title like that, I guess I just need to cut to the chase. Ok, so here it is. I don’t like zombies. The genre doesn’t do it for me. Seeing the struggle of humans retaining their humanity is always a good read but fighting brainless zombies is just boring. The last (and probably only) zombie movie I really liked was Shaun of the Dead and that’s only because I liked how they spoofed on zombies while keeping the essence of the genre.
So why am I taking the time to sorta bash on a beloved genre? Well, Halloween is right around the corner and I’m feeling topical. Let’s give Halloween its time to shine, especially since Christmas decorations are already in malls.
Ok, that’s not the only reason. Everyone is making a big deal about The Walking Dead premiere as well...

As a young comic fan growing up in New York State’s Finger Lakes Region, the tall tales and whispered rumors about the fabled NYC comic conventions were fascinating. They were a siren call. But the big city was so far away that I didn’t imagine, at that time, I’d ever make the trip to the Big Apple for a comic convention. Of course, my eight-year-old self would have been awestruck when years later, as a marketing professional, I’d work in NYC and would even help Reed Elsevier build the New York Comic Con.
Biking to Fay’s Supermarket one day, I noticed a flyer on the community bulletin board for something called the “Ithaca Comic Con.” Unlike New York City, this was only about 45 minutes away from my hometown. I urged my parents to make the trip. Maybe it was more nagging than urging, but it...

High Moon
Written by Bryan Fuller and Jim Danger Gray
Directed by Adam Kane
Aired September 15, 2014 on Syfy
While Bryan Fuller’s style may be a bit too quirky, macabre, or esoteric for some audiences, there’s no denying that the man knows how to give good pilot. The first episode of Wonderfalls was an endearing, fast-talking affair that gradually injected fantasy into early 20s/retail ennui. The first episode of Pushing Daisies was nothing less than a storybook brought to life, a vibrant spin on the matters of life, death, and what happens when the order of the two reverses. And the first episode of Hannibal was a visceral, otherworldly affair that made it clear from the outset it wasn’t your parents’ Hannibal Lecter.
That track record leads to a lot of high expectations for High Moon, even though unlike those previous shows the pilot is (likely) all there’s going to be.

Ron doesn't see why Syfy's fun, good-looking sci-fi pilot, High Moon, didn't make it to series. There's plenty here to enjoy...
Once upon a time, you couldn't sneeze in the summer without hitting some sort of made-for-tv movie. Sometimes, they'd be specially made for the purpose of airing. Sometimes, they'd just be unused pilots that happened to be edited into a two-hour block to fill a little airtime. For every The Night Stalker, there was a Steel Magnolias, K-9 And Company, or a Riding With Death (which went on to fame via Mystery Science Theater 3000). In other words, the TV movie pilot doesn't always work out all that well. However, you have to give SyFy credit for trying to make something out of nothing with High Moon, the television pilot version of John Christopher's novel The Lotus Caves.

Tonight, Americans have the choice between watching Dancing with the Stars, Monday Night Football, and … a SyFy movie with gay Russian spies on the moon. Curious? You’re not alone: SyFy executives thought the same thing of Bryan Fuller’s newest creation, High Moon. For four years, Fuller and the channel entered into an on-again, off-again relationship. At first it was a pilot, then a miniseries, then back to a pilot, then back to… you get the idea.
“ecause of how strange the development process was at the network, I don’t think anybody was surprised [that it wasn't made into a series],” Fuller said. “Right before we were ordered,...

A sci-fi saga set in outer space produced by Bryan Fuller, the creator of Hannibal, Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls? The idea sounded promising when SyFy ordered a 90-minute pilot for High Moon last summer, but alas, the finished product didn’t entice the network to send the show to series. Fuller’s fans and geeks of all stripes can judge for themselves when SyFy airs the pilot as a TV movie on Monday, Sept. 15, at 9 Pm.

When last we talked about High Moon, an adaptation of John Christopher's novel The Lotus Caves by Bryan Fuller ("Hannibal"), it was being called a pilot; but now it seems to be just another in the network's long line of Original Movies.
High Moon, starring Jake Sandvig, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jonathan Tucker, and Charity Wakefield, tells of a group who arrive on the moon and realize they've got company... and they Don't come in peace!
Adam Kane ("Being Human") directed the script penned by co-executive producer Jim Danger Gray ("Pushing Daisies") from a story adaptation written by Fuller and Gray.
The film airs on Monday, September 15th, at 9/8c on Syfy. Check out the trailer and a still below.

Here we go again, the season premiere of Game of Thrones managed to crash HBO Go. Not too long ago, the app crashed when people tried to use it to watch the season finale of True Detective.
Speaking of Game of Thrones, how about that Red Viper? (There are spoilers at the link, of course.) After the initial thrill faded, it felt like the status quo for me.
I don’t have many complaints about looking at Pedro Pascal, at least.

I have some potentially crushing news for any Franklin & Bash fans out there. I say potentially because I really don’t have enough information at my disposal to adequately assure one or the other if this is going to be traumatic for you. It also depends how much you enjoy a specific character on the TNT comedy. If you’ve become particularly attached to Dana Davis as private investigator Carmen you might want to think about forgetting she exists. Or you might not. Again, I really don’t have all the facts. All I can say is Davis has a big part in an upcoming Syfy pilot.
How big of a part is it? According to Deadline, Davis is one of two regulars that were announced for Bryan Fuller’s High Moon, the second being Peter Macon. High Moon will explore what happens when Earth countries establish themselves as colonies on the Moon,...
