Another superb episode. Definitely deserves a 10 on 10. From the very beginning to the end it was perfection. Amazing plot, suspense and emotion. "Elena is having problems keeping animal blood down. So, quite unexpectedly she turns to Damon for help. She drink's from him, which according to Damon is kind of personal. Connor Jordan's mystery tattoo has really got me excited. Hope to see more of Jeremy in action(yes! he's one of my favorite character. Damon's way of mourning Alaric was so Damon-ish." Be it Tyler's courage during memorial or Alaric's "I miss you too, buddy," TVD is definitely going to get better. And by better, I mean really really good.

This episode has a special connection with my heart. Everything in it is just too epic. TBH tvd did so great. You kinda forget about your own life when you start watching theirs and enter it. The most impressive thing about this show is definitely the soundtrack and the way the scenes are directed that the situations fit so perfectly.

A great emotional episode with main characters paying respect to those they lose, this is a tear jerker, loved the Damon and ghost Alaric scene near the end, I liked the new hunter connor he was a good minor villian , I think season 4 and 5 are so underrated and deserve more praise

A sky lantern, also known as Kongming lantern or Chinese lantern, is a small hot air balloon made of paper, with an opening at the bottom where a small fire is suspended. In Asia and elsewhere around the world, sky lanterns have been traditionally made for centuries, to be launched for play or as part of long-established festivities. The name "sky lantern" is a translation of the Chinese name Tian Deng. Sky lanterns have also been referred to as sky candles or fire balloons; the latter term, however, is also used to refer to balloon munitions used during World War II.
History of sky lantern According to the sinologist and historian of science Joseph Needham, the Chinese experimented with small hot air balloons for signaling from as early as the 3rd century BC, during the Warring States period. Traditionally, however, their invention is attributed to the sage and military strategist Zhuge Liang (181–234 CE) whose courtesy name was Kongming. He is said to have used a message written on a sky lantern to summon help on an occasion when he was surrounded by enemy troops. For this reason they are still known in China as Kongming lanterns . Elena is having trouble keeping down animal blood. Stefan takes her out hunting. His hands on her distracts her and she tells him that it feels good. He asks seductively how does it feel. She replies it feels every nerve on her body is on. He replies the sensations are heightened. Elena turns around and kisses them. They make out.
Caroline and Tyler are having sex in bed. Caroline is wearing an orange bra and then she exclaims they should be in mourning. Tyler goes downstairs when the door rings and the black guy shakes his hand. His black glove which is seeped with vervain burns Tyler and then he shoots him. Caroline comes rushing down with a black cover but her orange bra still shows - Mrs. Lockwood just looks shocked at everything. This black guy appears to be some hunter.
At the memorial in the church, Elena has trouble keeping down blood. She vomits it in the washroom and the black guy comes knocking on the door. Elena calls Damon to get her a new dress and he comes with a garment.
The group mourns their lost ones with lanterns.
