Production of the film was canceled for two days due to Hurricane Irene passing through the Washington, DC metro area. With a free weekend and stuck on location, Stefan Gural wrote a short film called PARADOX that starred Connor Smith, Stefan Gural, and Emma Earnest, and was shot and directed by one of Family Bonds' cinematographers, Greg Golter. The short PARADOX was never fully completed.
Kurt Skarstedt misread the audition notice for the film and performed a Shakespearean monologue instead of modern piece for his audition. Stefan Gural enjoyed it so much that he wanted to cast Kurt in the film right then and there. Kurt was, shortly after, offered the part of Donny.
Actress Randi Chambers was originally cast as Betty and Emma Earnest was cast as the Young Woman. However, Randi Chambers was forced to dropout of the film and Emma was then offered the part of Betty. Johanna Olson was then cast to play the Young Woman.
The film is inspired by William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing (1993) and all the characters' names in the film are based on their counterparts in the play. Donny/Donald Prince is Don Pedro/The Prince, Linda is Leonato, Ben is Benedick, Betty is Beatrice, Claude is Claudio, Helen is Hero, Maggie is Margeret, Johnny is Don John, Officer Berry is Dogberry, and Officer Virgil is Verges.
