Loved the book, movie was just ok.
charmedisshe16 April 2023
I absolutely love the whole book series. Loved the actors for Kate and Miles, but I had to watch the movie twice because honestly, I was super disappointed the first go around. I think I went into it with really high expectations. I felt like certain scenes were rushed(also missing scenes), the actor chosen for Dean didn't vibe for me(creepy/stalker vibes) and not much spice. Come on now, smut readers love the spice!!! The more the better!!! Just saying.

The second watch was just a smidge better, that's why I gave it a 7. I still feel the same about the actor for Dean, spice level and scenes. This is just my opinion ladies/gents don't come at me for being honest.

Grandma would be totally into it
kittycatblack28 August 2023
I have many thoughts:

With that said: second watch? I'm more into it. It helps that I really like this book and series and have read over a dozen of the author's books. It's cute and the Mercedes/Kate and Lindsay actors are spot on and they do seem like they've been friends for ages. The actor playing Miles is very good-looking and was a good cast. I think with a different accent and maybe a little more direction or line-reading, there's more to be had there. The actor playing Sam stole the show with his background faces in the bar. I was laughing so hard.

So much of the dialogue is directly from the book and it's great. If you haven't read "Wait With Me" and you like cute romcoms, I highly recommend it.

When I first watched this movie, I tore it apart in my mind. There were some shots I would have not lingered on so much and some scenes I would have preferred were shot differently. I daresay that the love scenes in the movie would have been better to be all foreplay with very few full body shots. I'm not saying fade to black, but the angles that the scenes were shot at could have been tweaked. The bad ADR DID take me out of it. Additionally, the song playing over the motorcycle ride does not fit the vibe of the scene and is too loud over the rest of the sound.

The actor playing Dean was miscast or mis-styled. I don't know if it's the hair or the beard or the glasses, but there's something that's not quite right with Dean's style. Maybe we'll have another movie in the series with opportunity for improvement.

In all: We have a 7 because it's cute and sweet if we don't worry about the love scenes. We want more/better angles, better styling on the men, and just a bit more polish on everything.

Well, judged as a movie, it's awful, but judged as a romcom, it's terrible
LeatherCajun1 July 2023
So, there is a class of RomComs made by the likes of Hallmark often staring a soap opera star or two, and maybe one of their spouses. These films are universally bad, but occasionally just good enough to go down easy.

Once and a while, the actors can just barely act.

This is not one of those movies. The "acting," especially from the lead male, is like very very bad flat just line reading. Not a choice or emotion or thought in view. The writing is worse. Dreadful, wooden lines, plus dreadful wooden acting, make for a dreadful movie.

However, Andrew looks great ... though he is never allowed to look less than book cover perfect, even when covered in fake tire grease. Several of the supporting actors can actually act, just a bit. The female lead is okay. But, Andrew needs some basic acting classes ... or back to the covers.

One of PF's Best
bwasko-3397111 April 2023
Totally unpopular opinion but as an avid PF original subscriber I've watched every movie and show- and I find (with the exception of the earliest movies) anything directed by Tosca herself is just tough to watch. A couple take exception here but in general they feel slow moving, forced acting and I just don't fully enjoy them.

As I watched Wait With Me I was shocked how much I was loving the movie, then I looked it up and realized Musk didn't direct this, ding ding ding.

I truly don't say this to be mean, it's just a preferred style of directing - with the exception of Resisting Roots, which is also not directed by Musk herself (but woof that was a rough one to get through and I've worried more would go this direction- tho admittedly I think casting had more to do with the issues for that movie)- and Tosca doesn't hit the mark for me. This one just WORKED. The style, the cast, the flow- it was pure enjoyment from the get. Also a fabulous book- so that helps!

I haven't reviewed a lot of these movies because honestly I have a love hate relationship with a few as of late... (pls bring back the early days of Hollywood Dirt, Afterburn and Matchmaker's Playbook!!) but this one was worth a rave! Thanks for this PF. Now, can we get the rest of the books? There's a thousand Gabriel.. I'm just asking for 2 or 3 of Amy's now!!

Incredible translation from book to movie
CJsmashingbooks22 April 2023
It was nice to watch a smutty movies from a book that translated in a way that didn't have cringe moments. It was a lovely romantic comedy that had some really great spice moments. Of course you always want more but it was still exceptional. The actors absolutely crushed it, with all the actors doing an amazing job. I really enjoyed seeing snippets of the other characters from the next few books popping in. It was just fantastic to see the book come to life and see how it was interpreted. My only complaint is that we don't have the next one in the series yet. Give us Amy Daws next book turned movie. We need SAM, and JOSH and DEAN!!

Stellar Acting by Andrew Biernat Shines in Delightful Romantic Comedy!
FSMeurinne13 April 2023
Wait with Me was such a cute romantic comedy! If you've read Amy Daws' book, you'll love seeing the characters come to life on screen. And let me tell you, Andrew Biernat totally nailed it as Miles Hudson, the sexy "book boyfriend", while Madison Lawlor resembled, in an extraordinary manner, the humor and characteristics of Kate Smith.

The rest of the cast was fantastic, with Jordan Blair Brown, Caleb Slovak, and Laith Chaz Wallschleger delivering solid performances as Miles and Kate's friends, and James Knight acting as a real jerk was the cherry on top. And the comedic moments were hilarious, like that secret pizza delivery scene. I couldn't stop laughing, as I remember well when that actually happened to Amy in real life! Because part of this story is based on the author's real-life experience while writing her books.

The screenplay stayed true to the original story, the cinematography was remarkable, the editing was good, and the music matched the different scenes, enhancing the experience for the audience. It captured the book's humor, tenderness, and steamy romance. But the real standout was the chemistry between Biernat and Lawlor; it was so on point and made their on-screen relationship super captivating.

Overall, this movie is a well-done adaptation that showcases Biernat's impressive acting skills and is a must-watch for romance movie fans like me!

A fun, sexy, RomCom with terrific acting across the board!
janedwards-745794 April 2023
I love this series so was looking forward to the movie and was NOT disappointed! Andrew Biernat was made for the role of sexy "book boyfriend" Miles Hudson. Madison Lawlor nails the role of "smut writer" Kate Smith, AKA Mercedes Lee Loveletter, who loses her ability to finish her latest erotic novel until she visits Tire Depot.....and then gets her writing mojo back, but has to continue sneaking into the "comfort center" for free coffee and cookies to finish her book. And this is where she meets sexy mechanic, Miles. But. She introduces herself to him as her pen name, Mercedes. Of course we know THAT's going to create problems down the road.

There's laugh out loud moments (like when Kate's author friend has pizza secretly delivered to her at Tire Depot) and the friendship between Kate, Lynsey (Jordan Blair Brown) and Dean (Caleb Slovak) and between Miles and best friend Sam (Laith Chaz Wallschleger) all work well. I particularly loved the scene where Dean confesses his attraction to Kate. But the real star of this movie is the chemistry between Andrew and Madison as Miles and Kate, struggling thru "friends with benefits" and catching feelings along the way. These actors absolutely deliver with authentic, believable performances and capture the audience from scene number 1.

This story is a slow buildup to the realization that Miles (who has sworn off relationships after his disastrous last one) can't resist charming Kate (Mercedes to him) and starts to fall hard....leading up to her EX coming back to town to taunt them (terrific drunk "Dryston" scene by James Knight) and the realization that Miles didn't know the REAL name of the woman he was falling for.....

In summary, I highly recommend this latest PassionFlix original, it sticks very close to the book as PassionFlix productions always do, with terrific acting throughout. Andrew will make you swoon and realize Kate/Mercedes never had a chance to resist the sexy mechanic, Miles Hudson.

Casting was spot on!
wendyshendricks13 April 2023
The only reason I didn't give Wait With Me a 10/10 was because there were a couple times where the music overpowered the dialogue. Specifically, during what author Amy Daws likes to call the spicy scenes. I could tell Kate and Miles were murmuring sweet dirty nothings to each other but I couldn't hear them. Other than that, I was thrilled how true to the book the movie was. As my title says, the casting was spot on and the chemistry between Madison Lawlor and Andrew Beirnot was perfect, as was the friendship between Kate and Lynsey. I've read all the books in the series except Dean's story (getting there) and I hope that Next In Line will be next in line for us fans!

Wait with me Fun, Sexy and Sentimental
tracyerinjones6 April 2023
I was so excited to finally see this best selling book come to the screen. Miles and Mercedes (Kate) steal your heart. Such wonderful chemistry with these two. The story is a classic. The mechanic and romance novelist are the perfect combination. Who would figure? It reminded me of old Hollywood romantic comedies like Doris Day and Rock Hudson in "Pillow Talk " a tad bit more steamy. Andrew Biernat is sensational and he is a sentimental gentleman with a touch of southern charm. Perfect book boyfriend. The red licorice reminds me of a cowboy chewing on hay. Kate/ Mercedes is adorable and no wonder Miles was smitten. They are magical together on screen. This movie is a perfect for a romantic date night. So grab your sweetheart and snuggle up for some good laughs and a few tears. It has everything.

Lighthearted fun with sizzle.
effiekspeyer9 April 2023
Wait for Me is the latest movie to drop on the romance streaming channel PassionFlix. Adapted from Amy Daws novel, the screenplay held to the storyline. So much so that I felt as though I had already seen this movie, which was impossible. But in a way, I had, at least in my mind while reading the book, and this movie was just as I had imagined. PassionFlix perfectly cast lead actors Andrew Biernat and Madison Lawlor in the roles of Miles and Kate, their onscreen chemistry sizzling. With all the humorous and tender moments to choose from, I have to say one of my favorites was the GRAND GESTURE. Anyone looking for a light, fun, feel-good movie must watch this one.

Great romance, could have had even more spice
cgvsluis8 April 2023
This is the spicy romance novel Wait with Me by Amy Daws brought to life by Passionflix, who handled it with their usual care and attention to detail/dialogue!

The acting was great and the on screen chemistry between Madison Lawlor and Andrew Biernat was off the chart thanks to some great casting and delicate directing.

The story is about Kate an author who writes erotic romance under the pen name Mercedes Lee Loveless. She still technically lives with her ex-boyfriend, who is away for the summer, because she does not want to give up her house which is situated next door to her best friend Lyndsey and in the neighborhood of her other best friend Dean.

With her breakup house having bad mojo, Kate has been unable to finish her next book...enter Tire Depot where like writing magic she gets her groove back and is incredibly productive in their "comfort center" with free pastries and coffee. She sneaks in for weeks working on her novel and eventually meets the hot mechanic Miles. These two unlikely friends strike up a friendship that becomes friends with benefits. The problem, Miles isn't ready for a relationship and thanks to his lying ex is very distrustful of women who lie...and Kate, while trying to fly under the radar at Tire depot, introduced herself as her pen name Mercedes and is trying to bravado her way through being a girl who is ok with casual sex.

The romantic story was great and these two had chemistry for days...the only thing I would have liked more of was spice. Don't get me wrong, it has spice...I just wanted more. Otherwise no complaints. I know I will be watching it again and I can't wait to see what Passionflix is going to turn out next!

Highly recommend to romantics and friends of romantic fiction...you'll love it!

A Delightful Rom-Com
mackenziej-111058 April 2023
Wait With Me is a sweet, funny, and steamy rom-com. Madison Lawlor and Andrew Biernat truly brought Miles and Kate to life so faithfully and their chemistry lit up the screen. Their performances and emotions they conveyed were brilliant! I also loved that you could feel the chemistry between the entire cast. I was smiling and laughing throughout most of the film and was left with warm feelings afterwards. The cinematography was visually stunning and David Gregory did a wonderful job on the screenplay. Passionflix has truly honoured Amy Daws book and it was a joy to watch this adaptation come to life on screen.
