As you were reminded of earlier this week, Ghostbusters 2 predicted the end of the world to happen on February 14th, 2016. That’s today’s Valentine’s Day. Thankfully, we’re still here, and that means that we still get to see what Paul Feig‘s new take on the Ghostbusters will offer when it hits theaters this summer. […]

Don’t assume that Calista Raines is a one-season-and-done character for ABC’s Mistresses.
Sure, this week’s installment found Jennifer Esposito’s alter ego continuing to lie about Joss’ role in the death of her cheating spouse Luca — as Joss languished in a jail cell! — but executive producers K.J. Steinberg and Rina Mimoun caution against assuming the former BFFs’ bond has suffered irreparable damage.

Chicago – He’s not a household name, but he has certainly rocked a few houses…with laughter. Writer/director Paul Feig has a new film called “Spy,” in which he re-teams with two of the supporting cast of his “Bridesmaids” romp, Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne. “Spy” opens on Friday, June 5th.
“Spy” is a perfect tonic to today’s super serious movies depicting undercover chicanery. McCarthy portrays Susan, a ex-teacher-turned CIA desk jockey, who often is paired with superspy Bradley Fine (Jude Law). When Fine is disposed of, it is up to Susan to complete his international mission, under the disguises of cat lady and unmarried tourist. Like Feig has done in his previous films, “Spy” loves the juxtaposition of having the unlikely Melissa McCarthy as the world’s greatest operative.

It’s never dull at St James’ Park, is it?
Just as the dust was settling after Ryan Taylor and Jonas Gutierrez’s release last week, a couple of staggering accusations have been levelled at the club. The decision to let the pair go left a really bad taste in the mouths of each and every Newcastle United fan and went some way to proving that nothing has changed despite what owner Mike Ashley said a couple of weeks back.
Not least because it was revealed how Lee Charnley and Newcastle’s football board decided to let the pair know of their respective futures. The powers that be at Newcastle got former (we hope) head coach John Carver to ring Ryan Taylor, and then got the former United utility man to pass the phone over the Jonas during the same call.

As so often happens on "Survivor," Tyler Fredrickson seemed well on his way to winning the million bucks, at least until he suddenly wasn't and Jeff Probst was snuffing his torch. Tyler had weathered a bumpy transition out of the not-wholly-functional White Collar tribe and he found himself in the center of a seemly strong numbers alliance, one that he helped solidify through his tight bond with original tribemate Carolyn. The former Cal Bears kicker and preseason Redskin and Raider was just strong enough that he seemed capable of winning an Individual Immunity or two, but not so dangerous that everybody viewed him as a threat. And in a season of larger-than-life personalities prone to extended shouting matches, he seemed level-headed and quiet. Naturally, that was a combination of factors that caused people to start talking about him as the eventual winner and that's the kind of talk that can...

The Droughtlander is nearly over. After more than six months away, "Outlander" is finally returning to Starz on Saturday, April 4. Fans have been champing at the bit since September 27 to get the resolution of the cliffhanger involving Claire, Black Jack and the just-in-time arrival of Jamie. Almost immediately upon the return, fans will notice something different. The premiere features Jamie's voiceover, a big deviation from Diana Gabaldon's book. The change in Pov makes a large difference when it comes to The Important Thing That Happens in the premiere, an event that fans of the book have been waiting for all season. Back in January at the TCA press tour, I sat down with "Outlander" showrunner Ronald D. Moore to discuss the impact of the Pov swap, as well as the expanded role of Frank and how changes from the book have shaped the first season. [In the PaleyFest video above, Moore tells me a bit about Gabaldon's involvement in the series.] We also talked about...

Last week, the news that Mike Ashley’s last two representatives on the Rangers board have been put out of power was billed as a crushing blow to Mr Sports Direct’s hopes of taking sole control of the club.
Chief executive Derek Llambias and Barry Leach, the finance director, were removed from their positions after a decisive vote from the Gers’ shareholders.
But where does that leave Mike Ashley and Newcastle United Football Club?
Looking at the bigger picture, Ashley still has considerable influence at Rangers but not in terms of making the decisions. Dave King, who had been embroiled in a battle with Mike over the last few weeks, will now oversee the day-to-day running of the Scottish giants.
It is also good news for the clubs’ respective European ‘ambitions’ (if there are any). Concerns had been raised by the Newcastle United Supporters Trust and...

Exclusive: Thai sales company Mosquito Films Distribution has picked up Singaporean filmmaker Liao Jiekai’s sophomore feature As You Were.
The film premiered in Tokyo International Film Festival’s Asian Future competition in October and screened to a full house at the Singapore International Film Festival this week.
This follows the Thai outfit’s picking up two Malaysian films – previous Cannes director Woo Ming Jin’s The Second Life Of Thieves, which premiered in Busan, and his oft-times producer Edmund Yeo’s feature directorial debut River Of Exploding Durians, which was in Tokyo’s main competition.
As You Were was also in international competition in Torino and Nantes.
Set on an idyllic island south of Singapore, the film follows a couple spending their last moments together as their relationship falls apart, exploring their memories and the oppressive past of St. John’s Island, which was, at various points in history, a quarantine...

Update from the filmmaker, Ava DuVernay, who shared the following on Twitter, when asked about "Selma's" SAG shut-out (or at least, what appeared to be a shut-out): "Film not done in time for nominating screeners. All good." So there ya have it. Mystery solved. As you were... Surprises? I really expected David Oyelowo would make the cut, especially after all the praise his performance as Mlk in "Selma" has received from critics, fans and peers, since the film debuted at the AFI Fest a month ago. I felt, of all the performances in the film, he had the strongest chance. Although I loved Carmen Ejogo as Coretta Scott King. She's moving and convincing in just...

"Survivor: San Juan Del Sur" may have its share of savvy strategic players, physical threats and lucky Idol-finders, but the entire season may ultimately not be shaped by any one strong player or powerful couple, but rather by Julie McGee's untimely decision to quit. Julie, girlfriend to former baseball player John Rocker, departed "Survivor" in the episode that aired last week and her exit preempted a vote that was predetermined to go against Boston firefighter Jeremy. The vote against Jeremy was going to be the centerpiece of Broadway veteran Josh Canfield's charge for the million dollars, swiftly taking out the head of the rival alliance after the Merge. Instead, Julie's self-elimination meant a skipped Tribal Council and it meant that Keith's Immunity victory went for naught. In the next Immunity Challenge, a memory task came down to Josh and Jeremy, with Jeremy winning, preempting his own...

There's a new Leg... oh, hang on. There's a Playmobil movie coming in 2017!
It’s a mystery where posh film people get their ideas from sometimes. Entirely independent of any other cinema trends, On Entertainment, Pathe and Wild Bunch are collaborating on bringing a Playmobil movie to the big screen. It’ll be a fully animated production based around Playmobil blocks. You never know, it may even have a catchy song with it too.
Overseeing the development is Bob Persichetti, who worked on the likes of Shrek 2 and Puss In Boots as head of story.
The Playmobil movie, whatever it ends up being called, will be released in cinemas in 2017.
In a bizarre coincidence, there’s also a further series of films based around Lego toys heading into cinemas too, with The Lego Batman Movie also due in 2017, and The Lego Movie 2 in 2018. Obviously this is just one of those weird happenings,...

BollySpice caught up with the wonderful Aditi Singh Sharma who is famed for hits like ‘Raabta,’ ‘Offo,’ ‘Dhoom Machale Dhoom’ and ‘Main Heroine Hoon.’ The 28 year old playback singer spoke about all things music, Bollywood, as well as about her recent gigs, which included a special appearance during Arijit Singh’s debut concert in the UK in August. Hugh Dancy has always been “an adventurous, not to say foolhardy, eater,” and his appetite has stayed strong and steady despite continued exposure to stunningly beautiful, undeniably horrifying cannibalistic dinner scenes on NBC’s Hannibal. “Nothing’s changed!” he says, with a hearty laugh.

"Fargo" concluded its first (and possibly only) season last night. I reviewed the finale here, and I spoke with the show's creator, Noah Hawley, about some of the big developments in the finale, and the possibility of future "Fargo" adventures, coming up just as soon as I go into space despite being afraid of spiders... Before we get to the Q&A, I should note that having just moderated two different panels with Hawley at the Atx Television Festival (including one right after a screening of last week's episode, which you can hear the audio of at the end of the latest Nerdist Writers Panel podcast), I tried to avoid asking him a bunch of repeat questions. I think the only ground we trod over again was on the question of a sequel season, but here's what I can recall from other notable bits of discussion: * Mr. Wrench was inspired...

Matt Damon confirms he'd be interested in a return to the Bourne films - providing two conditions are met...
After the huge success of The Bourne Ultimatum, there was talk for a while that Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass would be back for Bourne 4. They reunited for Green Zone, which - like the Bourne films - was for Universal (it was originally intended to be a smaller project for the pair). But after that, Greengrass dropped out of doing another Bourne, and Matt Damon followed him. The fourth Bourne film, The Bourne Legacy, would mention Jason Bourne a lot, but follow Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross instead.
The Bourne Legacy, to put it mildly, was a bit of a mess. However, it just about did enough for Universal to order up a sequel to it, and that arrives in cinemas in August 2015. But...

For a generation of kids, Saturday morning at 11am was appointment-television time. You put away your cereal bowl and switched from cartoons or pro-wrestling to a channel a little further down the dial. After a minute or two, you'd finally see that signature animated train — a funky, pulsing engine grooving down inner-city elevated tracks (and later, around the world), puffing out rainbow-colored smoke. Then a high-pitched voice screamed out the words you'd waited all week to hear: "It's the Sooooouuullll Traaaaaiiiiiinnnn!"

There are certain characters on “Game of Thrones” who could probably have been played equally well by a few dozen actors across the UK and Europe. Then there are the ones who, because of certain traits given to them by author George R.R. Martin, needed a very specific combination of talent and physical appearance. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister is obviously one of those, and Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth is another. At an imposing 6’4”(*) with icy blonde hair and large blue eyes, Christie makes an impression, and is absolutely convincing as the stoic warrior who keeps beating up all the men who underestimate her. (*) Tall actresses often wear flats to downplay their height, but when I interviewed Christie, she was wearing heels, making her even taller, and one of the few actors of either gender I’ve ever had to look up at. Christie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau had...

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of both the launch and swift funding of the Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter campaign. The theatrical fruits of that shockingly successful labor arrive at cineplexes and on VOD today, and Vulture used the opportunity as another excuse to talk with Rob Thomas, the 2004-7 Upn/the CW detective show’s creator who also directs the movie. We asked him to reflect on the Kickstarter madness, what he’d do differently, whether it will lead to a Party Down movie, and why Kevin Hart will always be the one who got away.As you were about to roll out the Kickstarter campaign a year ago, what was at stake for you? I think a couple things would have happened if we had failed. I think the big risk for both Kristen [Bell] and me was just the public humiliation of it and we were both keenly aware of that.

All great films begin with an awesome script and the X-Men film franchise has Simon Kinberg to thank for that. Along with X-Men:The Last Stand, X-Men: First Class, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Sherlock Holmes to name a few, Kinberg has put his brilliant imagination to work yet again, in penning the forthcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
During last summer’s set visit for Days of Future Past in Montreal, we sat down with Kinberg in Xavier’s mansion to chat about his writing process and working with Bryan Singer, weaving the old and new mutants into one film, time-travel, the importance of Wolverine, the evolution of the characters, the Sentinels and what we can expect from the much anticipated, soon-to-be-released film. Read his insightful interview below to uncover some of the excitement that’s about to be unleashed upon us in March.

This article contains spoilers for Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade and The Untouchables.
Go by the general law of Indiana Jones movies, and Raiders Of The Lost Ark is regarded as the best, Last Crusade is second, then there's a gap to Temple Of Doom in third, and the other one is fourth. I looked at Temple Of Doom earlier in the week, here, after I watched the movie with my ten-year old son. After that, we popped The Last Crusade on. And it left me wondering: is Last Crusade's stranglehold on second place fair?
Certainly by the time my ten-year old sat through it he'd have said so. He guffawed, was excited, and enjoyed the hell out of it. I don't blame him,...

Update: Co-creator Mark Frost calls all this "Another strange baseless rumor." As you were... While those rumors a year ago of a possible third season of David Lynch's cult classic TV series "Twin Peaks" were debunked as quickly as they came forward, it appears that the director/creator isn't done with Laura Palmer just yet. It looks like we'll all have a reason return to Twin Peaks soon. The guys at Bleeding Cool recently received a casting notice looking for a very well built woman to play waitress for a promo that Lynch will be shooting for "Twin Peaks" tomorrow. So what's it all for? According to the site, they surmise the spot is for a forthcoming home video release of "Twin Peaks" that will not only include to the TV show, but the prequel film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me," 45 minutes worth of deleted scenes and more.

Listen up maggots! With the WWE’s release of the new Raw 20th Anniversary Collection, we had a chance to sit with the legendary Sgt. Slaughter to discuss the new box set.
The Real American Hero shared with us what the “unedited” DVDs will show as well as stories about real-life heat with Stone Cold, how WWE won the Monday night wars, what life is like backstage, recent charity work and who Sarge thinks should play him in the next G.I. Joe movie.
Now drop and give us twenty!
WhatCulture: Good morning Sarge.
Sgt. Slaughter: Good morning. As you were.
Wc: Sarge, you are promoting the Raw 20th Anniversary DVD collection. This collection is being advertised as “Unedited”. Can you tell us a little about what we will be seeing?
SS: Well, you are going to see a lot of backstage things that nobody really gets to see.

Anthony Chen
F rom winning the Camera d’Or at Cannes Film Festival to being officially nominated from Singapore for the Oscars in the foreign language category, Anthony Chen has gone places with his debut feature Ilo Ilo. It recently won him the Best Director award at the Mumbai Film Festival.
Apart from being a poignant and touching film about the relationship between a young boy and his Filipino nanny in a Singaporean family coming to terms with economic recession; the semi-autobiographical Ilo Ilo is a special film in more than one way. Not only did it open a new gateway for an otherwise obscure Singaporean cinema, it also resulted in Chen re-uniting with his Filipino nanny from childhood when a radio station in the Philippines embarked on a frantic search to find Chen’s inspiration for the Cannes-winner.

Damian Lewis made his first appearance of "Homeland" season 3 in tonight's episode, "Tower of David," which I reviewed here. On Friday, I spoke briefly with the show's Emmy-winning leading man about where exactly he and Brody find themselves at this stage, and how much life he thinks the character has left in him. As you were coming to the end of season 2 and Brody was about to become the world's most wanted fugitive, what sorts of conversations did you have with the producers about what your role on the show would be going forward? Damian Lewis: These guys never...

Bastards [Les salauds] begins, like Garrel's Un été brûlant, at night, with a suicide. An explanation for the gesture will never come, although, through the film's near imperceptible ellipses, it comes close. A film of profoundly somber gloam, of loneliness and anger and even stifled madness, of complicity and solitude, its sadness is almost absolute.
A torrid string connects a cast predominantly made up from Claire Denis' family of actors: Vincent Lindon, Michel Subor, Alex Descas, Grégoire Colin. There are so many of them that they stand out as coming from somewhere before, some shared place, and their figures seem at once human and also something more so, grander, archetypal. (Lola Créton creates a similar effect in a small role with such a brief but so recognizable presence that it both reaches outside the story, as well as expanding something within.

Just a month before Bradley Manning finally appeared before a military judge to confess that he did indeed leak thousands of sensitive military documents, Alex Gibney’s latest docu investigation which chronicles Manning’s involvement with the whistle blowing website Wikileaks and it’s notorious figurehead Julian Assange, We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks, screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. I met up with the prolific documentarian in Park City following the film’s warmly received world premiere to discuss how he got involved with the project, the challenges of presenting characters through on screen text, the moral issues of leaking government documents, what it was like dealing with the ever so slippery Assange, and trying to edit down a sprawling three hour plus cut to just over two. Our conversation in both video and text form is below.

Chris’ beef with Drake seemed to be far from over as the ‘Turn Up The Music’ artist blasted Drake in front of a packed Hollywood night club on Mar. 6, but a source tells Hollywood.com Exclusively that it’s not as serious as it may seem! Read on for the explosive details.
Chris Brown unleashed serious venom towards Drake on Mar. 6 at the Emerson Theatre in Hollywood. The singer reportedly made the DJ, who was playing Drake’s song “Started From The Bottom,” stop the music so he could address the crowd and say “f**k Drake.”
E! Online reports that, around 1:20 a.m., Breezy stood up from his center table under the DJ booth and told the DJ to give him a microphone so he could talk to the crowd as Drake’s music was cued up in the background.

(Tim Hetherington, above, during the shooting of Restrepo.)
By Terry Keefe
News reports are stating that Tim Hetherington was tragically killed today in Libya. I interviewed Hetherington twice during the past year, along with Sebastian Junger, for Restrepo, the Oscar-nominated documentary they co-directed while embedded with an American platoon in Afghanistan.
Together, Hetherington and Junger created what I believe to be the most important film of the year. It is required viewing for all Americans, to be sure. Rest in peace.
I spoke to Hetherington and Junger two months ago, right before the Oscars, and prior to that, did a much longer interview with them on the shooting of Restrepo. I've reposted the entirety of that interview below.
Bearing Witness In Afghanistan: An Interview With Tim Hetherington & Sebastian Junger, Co-directors Of Restrepo
I’ll just come out and say this - Restrepo is one of the best films about war ever made.

We told you some time ago that the really quite attractive Mark Consuelos (All My Children) had been cast in American Horror Story Asylum. Had we not done so, I probably would have missed that it was his character who got in a tussle with Kit in the first episode, because he did Not look like himself. We got a longer – and even more unpleasant – look at him in last week’s episode, both before and after Dr. Arden’s “treatment.” Poor poor Spivey.
Mr. Consuelos, however, was in great spirits when he chatted with the press earlier this week. He was an absolute treat. You’ll need to know, in case you didn’t, that his wife is syndicated morning show host (and former All My Children co-star) Kelly Ripa (Live with Kelly and Michael):

Filming a low-budget, independent film can be challenging for many directors. It’s even more difficult for a first time helmer with limited resources. But newcomer Alexander Poe, who wrote, directed, executive produced and starred in the upcoming New York-based comedy-drama Ex-Girlfriends, relied on his friends and colleagues to help create the realistic tale of trying to navigate romantic relationships. Also aided by Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter, who starred in and executive produced the film, Poe was able to explore his comedic side without the pressures of a larger budget film.
Ex-Girlfriends follows Graham (Poe), a writer who’s disheartened by his latest break-up, and his attempts to rekindle the spark with one of his ex-girlfriends, Laura (Kristen Connolly). While reconnecting with Laura and trying to win her back, Graham discovers that she’s dating Tom (Noah Bean), who’s also in a relationship with another one of his ex-girlfriends,...

“Generation P” introduces the audiences with a wild, trippy movie of Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union. As Russia starts to adopt capitalism, the film explores certain themes of advertising, mafia groups and even the country’s politics.
The film revolves around a young writer, Babylen Tatarsky, who was recruiting into the advertising industry. His journey started off innocently trying to promote certain brands in Russia, but it later took Babylen deeper into a mysterious corrupt advertising industry as he looked for inspiration through Mesopotamian mythology and drugs.
The movie is based off the fiction novel written by Victor Pelevin.

It's time to empower the fans! Paramount has just launched a Facebook page to start promoting Star Trek Into Darkness, the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel to his reboot of the Star Trek series. A few weeks ago, J.J. went on Conan O'Brien and teased a 3-frame (not 3-second, just 3 frames) clip which simultaneously angered and excited fans, but now they're letting fans finish things off and eventually unveil the new trailer. An unofficial Facebook page has launched for Into Darkness, and a photo posted (see below) teases the first trailer, with a message that it will be revealed in full once the page reaches 500,000 likes. But is this real? Update 2: Paramount Pictures has indeed confirmed that this is a fake Facebook page. As you were. Update: Some are saying this might be a completely fake setup. I received the info via a press release in my email unlike...

We'll try to keep this short so you may resume staring. Miranda Kerr stripped down to her birthday suit for a new photo spread appearing in the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar wearing nothing more than a pair of sexy thigh-high boots. Sure, we could sit here and extract a bunch of quotes from the supermodel's interview with the mag where she talks about things like her career, diet, motherhood, blah, blah, blah. But why should we waste your time with all that when we know why you clicked into this post in the first place, right? Ok. As you were.

At this particular moment, family support for the Drake-produced posthumous Aaliyah album is a little underwhelming: Aaliyah's brother Rashad posted a Facebook message denying any Haughton connection, and Blackground Records (the label run by Aaliyah's uncle) can only muster a rumor that the family is "working it out" and that "Aaliyah's mother wanted us to do this!" But Drake? Drake is not concerned. He claims that "everybody from her family to her old management and label" signed off — yeah, that "classic" probably means Timbaland — and also that the album will be out this very year. With thirteen or fourteen new songs. In summary: This thing is happening, and everyone is still fighting like crazy about it. As you were.

Chicago – Beefcake is on parade in the new film “Magic Mike,” about a troupe of male strippers in sunny Florida. The film was partially based on the true life experiences of Channing Tatum, who did perform briefly in his late teens. In the film he is Magic Mike, and Joe Manganiello portrays “Big Dick” Ritchie.
“Magic Mike” is directed by Steven Soderbergh, and although it balances the outrageous male strip shows with some inevitable downfall in the performers, it maintains a feeling of truth and a path beyond the stage. HollywoodChicago.com recently got to talk to the lead actor Channing Tatum and his supporting cast member Joe Manganiello during a promotional swing through Chicago.

Update: We've been informed that Judy Greer has not been cast in "Carrie." As you were.
"Arrested Development" scene-stealer Judy Greer is adding another string to her bow, joining Kimberley Peirce's remake of Brian De Palma horror classic "Carrie." The actress will take on the role known simply as "The Gym Teacher," which we're presuming is the role of Miss Collins in the original, the empathetic teacher who looks out for Carrie and has an instrumental part in the film's climax at the prom.
The film will see Chloe Moretz star in the titular role with Julianne Moore excitingly portraying her fundamentalist mother, Gabriella Wilde as classmate Sue, Ansel Elgort as Sue's boyfriend who takes Carrie to the prom, and "Chronicle" star Alex Russell as one of Carrie's bullies. Lensing on the project begins this summer for a March 15th release next year. [BloodyDisgusting]

Nothing too groundbreaking here, but THR is making a big deal about an "exclusive" report they have about Jon Favreau reprising his role as Happy Hogan in Iron Man 3, set to be directed by Shane Black.
The funny part about it is that Favreau himself basically tweeted this same thing directly to his fans about an hour before THR's report came out. Some exclusive.
In any case, Favs will reunite with Robert Downey, Jr. in front of the camera as Tony Stark's loveable bodyguard/driver/sidekick, but there's no further information about the extent of his screen time or how integral his character will be. Iron Man 3 began filming this week and is set for release on May 3rd, 2013. As you were.

File this under: for completist nerd soundtrack obsessives only (which we sadly fall into quite snugly). Ok, you've seen the tracklist for Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom," which features artists like Benjamin Britten, Françoise Hardy, Hank Williams and more. And based on various accounts from Cannes this morning, including our own very positive revew from the Croisette, "Moonrise Kingdom" is certainly Anderson's live-action return to form. We can't wait.
But for soundtrack completists and Wes Anderson obsessives (of which there are many), many will note and know that every soundtrack disc is rarely ever complete. There are always a handful of songs featured in the movie that aren't on the official soundtrack for various myriad reasons; sometimes it's a rights issue and or sometimes it's simply aesthetical CD space (sometimes you want to curate a nice little disc that doesn't go on forever too).
So with "Moonrise Kingdom" screening comes...
