On set, Alex Vincent revealed he was almost kicked off of set due to his long hair and beard as nobody recognized him.
Chucky mentions defenestration as his favorite method of killing, which we have seen him do before in the series, particularly his first onscreen kill being Maggie in Child's Play and Aunt Bree from season 1.
As they were plotting out the season, Writer Kim Garland suggested doing "Colonel Chucky" knowing Brad Dourif could do an imitation of Marlon Brando's portrayal of Kurtz from Apocalypse Now (1979).
"Colonel Charles" says "the horror." This is a direct homage to Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now. The montage of the helicopter and explosions are also homage to the film.
Brad Dourif worked on this episode for 2½ weeks everyday for hours, coming up with the Colonel Chucky voice. He stated "you can't write Chucky without a sense of humor. Chucky's whole persona is that he loves his job. That's one of the reasons why I had trouble doing it is because it was very hard to bring Marlon Brando's Colonel into that kind of Chucky.
