Pearry Reginald Teo, the Singaporean-born genre filmmaker behind the Bai Ling-starring The Gene Generation and Dmx‘s last movie, Fast Vengeance, has died. He was 44.
Teo died Thursday of an unknown cause in his home in North Hollywood, his rep Italia Gandolfo told The Hollywood Reporter.
The writer-director’s body of work included the Hellraiser-inspired Necromentia (2009) and The Assent (2019), a movie about exorcism that featured Tatum O’Neal and premiered at the Toronto After Dark Festival.
Teo also served as an executive producer on Warner Bros.’ Cloud Atlas, directed by the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer.
The Gene Generation (2007), released by Lionsgate and made for a reported $2.5 million, starred Ling as a kick-ass assassin battling DNA hackers and included a cameo by Faye Dunaway.
Fast Vengeance (2021), starring martial arts star D.Y. Sao, centered on the world of underground motorcycle racing. (Sao and Teo would reunite for 2022’s Shadow Master.)

Say hello to Hollywood's newest heartthrob, Ben Robson.
The Newcastle upon Tyne, England native, 32, made a name for himself as one of the stars of History's Vikings, and his latest role has him going from the rugged life of a sea-rover to that of a sandy SoCal bad boy in Animal Kingdom. Robson, who plays a troublemaking lothario in a twisted crime family in the new TNT drama, is quickly earning his spot as one of Hollywood's sexiest new breakout stars.
Here are five things to know about the actor.
He didn't know he wanted to be an actor until after he finished school.

Stars: Ethan Peck, India Eisley, Natalie Hall, Bruce Davison, James Adam Lim, Scott Alan Smith, Zack Ward, Mim Drew, Dallas Hart, Madelaine Petsch, Anna Harr | Written by Pearry Teo, Josh Nadler | Based on the comic by Everette Hartsoe | Directed by Pearry Teo
If there’s one director whose films I will watch without hesitation or question, it’s Pearry Teo. In fact his filmic career is actually one that is key to mine. His second film, the 2009 fear flick Necromentia (which I still think out-Hellraiser’d Hellraiser itself), was one of the first films I ever reviewed professionally; and I’ve reviewed each and every one of his films since. Why? Because of the impact his twisted vision in Necromentia had on me and because no matter the story, no matter the budget, Teo always finds something interesting, admittedly often dark, to do with the subject matter.

One of my favorite shows, History‘s Vikings, has announced new cast members for the new season, and it’s a group that should have you excited to see where things go.
For me, the most impressive note here is that Lothaire Bluteau will be joining the cast as Emperor Charles of France. One of the most woefully under-appreciated actors around, Bluteau may be best known at the moment for his work on The Tudors, but he was also the star of two of the best movies ever, Jesus of Montreal and Black Robe.
Also on board is Kevin Durand, another actor who doesn’t get the attention he deserves, who will hopefully be more solidly in the collective consciousness when Vikings rolls around again, because he is also in the upcoming The Strain.
Finally, relative unknown Morgane Polanski will play Emperor Charles’ daughter.
And so, despite ending last season with all eyes at home,...

Voight, who won Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini Series or TV Movie for playing the title character’s criminal father in Ray Donovan, also won praise for his stylish off-white scarf that hung loosely over his lapels as he gave his acceptance speech.
According to Voight, the scarf has been a part of his awards show uniform for decades. “I wore it to the Academy Awards once early in my career. Dracula The Dark Prince suffers from an identity crisis. This cheesyaction film with aspects eerily similar to any of the three Lord of the Rings movies may have made an okay forthekids adventure movie. With the standard good versus evil paradigm a Han Soloesque rogue poor character development poorly directed action sequences and a climactic battle between light and dark As a kids movie goes it would be about what youd expect. But for some inexplicable reason Teo and Paul decide to throw in some gratuitous nudity which is far from necessary (or even appealing).

Few actors are as innately intimidating as Jon Voight. Whether he's playing a spy or a city boy on a rafting trip or Nicolas Cage's dad, he's just flat-out intimidating on-screen. That's why it's so amusing to see him talk about his costar in this behind-the-scenes clip from Dracula: The Dark Prince. In the film Voight plays Van Helsing, but in this amusing clip he's just a guy admiring his fellow actor... who happens to be playing the Dark Prince. We're not sure if it's Voight's hair here, or his handlebar mustache or what, but the contrast between his look and the intensity of what he's talking about is just delightful. Now as for the movie itself, Lionsgate is releasing Dracula: The Dark Prince on VOD, Digital HD...

Director/producer/writer Pearry Teo (who just happens to be one of my favourite directors working today) has, having recently finished production on his Dracula flick The Dark Prince, been ramping up for his next project – the much more personal fairytale horror Bedlam Stories, which has been in gestation for almost a year under the guidance of Pearry under his TeoWard Productions banner.

We have a pretty dark (and first) trailer for The Dark Prince movie, but you have nothing to worry about – it looks decent enough! Directed by Pearry Teo, this fantasy action stars great-looking Luke Roberts as the titular character and Jon Voight as (take a seat!) Van Helsing! Head inside to check them out & let us know what you think! Teo directed the whole thing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Nicole Jones, and at this moment, the only thing we know about the movie is that it will appeal to the legion of Twilight fans around the world. If you’ve been a long time reader of Blogomatic3000 (now, of course Nerdly) you’ll know how huge a fan I am of director Pearry Teo. He has helmed some fantastic straight to DVD movies – some of which put big-budget cinema flicks to shame – including the awesome Necromentia, Witchville and Dead Inside (aka The Evil Inside).
His latest film, The Dark Prince, is another take on the Dracula legend which stars Brit actor Luke Roberts as the titular character and Jon Voight as Van Helsing. The film, which was lensed in Romania, is currently at the Cannes Film Market and director Teo has revealed the films poster on his Facebook page (which if you’ve any interest in low-budget filmmaking you really should be following).
