Re-Imagining Halloween (2007)
*** (out of 4)
Twenty-minute featurette about the making of Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN. The featurette is broken into three parts with each looking at a different aspect of the production. Up first is "From Camera to screen" and this goes over Zombie's visual style that he wanted for the film. "The Production Design" is exactly what it says as we get to know the type of look Zombie wanted for various locations. Finally, "The Makeup FX, Props and Wardrobe" goes over the special effects, the knives used and what the characters wore. Fans of the film will certainly enjoy what we get here even if it doesn't go into any great detail about anything. I thought the second segment was probably the most interesting as Zombie and production designer Anthony Tremblay talk about the various sets and how they wanted to decorate them. This includes the school, the strip joint, Myers' asylum room and of course everything dealing with the end of the film. The stuff dealing with the props used was also nice as we get to hear about the various knives that were done for the film and how to properly use them. Fans of the film will certainly enjoy this behind-the-scenes look even if we're not given great detail about anything. The one interesting thing is that no matter who they're talking to they mention that Zombie wanted everything to feel real and raw. It's clear what Zombie wanted for the film and it's interesting seeing everyone try to pull it off.
