Dumbest parents alive!
steenie-6539110 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
What kind of parents meet a stranger at a funeral and allow her to sit in their car watching their infant while they go pay respects to the person that died? How careless and idiotic do you have to be to do this? If you're going to make a Lifetime movie about a crazed nanny, at least make it somewhat believable! These have got to be the dumbest parents I've ever seen in my entire life! What new parent isn't sleep deprived??? That's the way it is with a a baby!

When that crazy lunatic took the baby in her car to help "get him to sleep" and then "accidentally" scratched the mother's arm while battling with the mother-in-law, why didn't the mother just completely cut ties with this crazy woman? I typically don't side with the mother-in-law, but she was the only one that made sense in the movie and the only one that had a friggin brain, unless you're counting the baby.

My eyes hurts and ears are bleeding

That's a real horror in terms of production, acting and the script. I think I need a therapy after watching this. Honestly, I haven't seen any movie that bad as this one and I was watching a lot (my first job was VHS and dvd rental ages ago).

I started watching as a thriller, then I was googling a lot and I thought it's a comedy but it turned out to be just a nightmare of cinema industry.

I am aware of b movies type kinda business but this is beyond.

I truly Beliave some people tried to make it any better and frame it differently but seems like absolutely everything in here went wrong and out of control.

Uncommonly Bad...

Full disclosure... I tend to enjoy Lifetime movies. They are bright, breezy, just the right amount of Cheese. Guilty pleasures. 90% of this movie is a damn Baby crying. It goes on far too long. I couldn't hit mute fast enough. This is to show the Parents are stressed out and low on sleep. Enter the Nurse... A total stranger. That tracks. Only the Sassy Grandma knows what's up. The Parents are too stupid to function. Even by Lifetime standards. On paper it sounds like a corny good time right? There's nothing fun or exciting about this movie. It's very dry. It suffers from a lifeless script that takes itself too seriously. I would recommend "The Nurse" (1997) instead.

The Mad Dash Through the Forest
lavatch6 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It is almost an obligatory opening scene in a Lifetime film when a desperate woman is racing through a forest with someone in hot pursuit. In this film, the stakes were even greater because one of the women was carrying a baby!

"Beware the Night Nurse" unfolded the circumstances of Claire and Zach Mitchell, a pair of successful attorneys, who are starting to raise their baby Owen. The child was born by a surrogate, Liz Chenowith, who worked as a paralegal in their law office.

The character of Liz Chenowith was intriguing because she vanished early into the film after she was frightened. There is a good payoff when Liz's story is revealed and what was the source of her fear.

Another strength of the film was the tension between the night nurse, Vera Ivanov, and Judy Mitchell, the formidable mother-in-law of Claire. It soon becomes apparent that with the antagonism between Vera and Judy, something has to give!

The only loose end in the film was when Claire was rifling through a batch of old photos she located at the home of Liz Chenowith. One of the photos was that of a boy alongside Vera. The identity of boy was never made clear in the film.

The direction was crisp with excellent location footage, especially in the cabin setting at Gravenhurst, where the race through the forest will occur. There was also good feeling in the relationship of Claire and Zach and their connection to their new baby. Little Owen was a screamer, and there was no doubt that the couple was in need of a night nanny.

The only lesson to be learned was the importance of conducting a more thorough background check before hiring a night nurse!
