Shallow people, dumb show!

Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like Bristol Palin, I did. I'm interested in life in Alaska and enjoy the banter that comes with living in a big family, so I had high hopes for this series.

They were quickly lost.

In Episode 1 she "works for a charity" which we finally see is "Help the Children" (in episode 2, I think). Okay, that's interesting-- now there's a chance to get past the general rudeness (and superficiality) that exists between Bristol and Willow and get a good story. Bristol is shown traveling with another volunteer, through Skid Row. We see many people with their carts full of belongings. What I wanted to see what a sign, any sign at all that Bristol cared about what happened to them. After all she has aligned herself with the Pro Life movement. She should have great values, right? Wrong! While I give her credit for not being on her cellphone while they are passing these folks, her disinterest in them is obvious.

At least they got to go back to the mansion in Beverly Hills where everyone drives Bentleys.

That is everyone but the cleaning crews, maids, nannies and gardeners anyway, but Ms. Palin has no sense of classism, so why would that not be lost on her? I made it partway through the second episode and wished I had those 30 minutes back.

Life should be about sharing what you have and making the world a better place. That's the kind of trip that would hold and keep my attention.
