"Less is more" was the takeaway of the 2019 American Music Awards.
The night celebrated the year's most popular songs and artists, but it was the oldies that made the show resonate with audiences both inside the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and watching worldwide.
There was plenty of nostalgia going around starting with Kesha's first performance in 6 years that included her latest single "Raising Hell" in addition to her 2011 hit "Tik Tok."
She was finally granted permission to sing her old songs following a public battle with Sony and producer Dr. Luke.
90s oldies but goodies like "Green Day's 1994 "Basket Case," Toni Braxton's 1996 "Unbreak My Heart," and Shania Twain's 1997 classic "I Feel Like a Woman," were also crowd pleasers.

This morning’s Horror Highlights takes our readers to Hell Town, as Daily Dead did a Q&A with Steve Balderson, the co-writer/co-director of the film. Also: production details and an official poster for The Recall and UK release details for Blackburn.
Daily Dead’s Q&A with co-writer/co-director of Hell Town, Steve Balderson: “Debbie Rochon (Model Hunger, Return to Nuke ‘Em High, The Theater Bizarre) headlines as the hostess of the three surviving episodes of “Hell Town”, following the melodramatic, small-town and potentially short-lived lives of Krysten Day, Amanda Deibert, Owen Lawless, Ben Windholz, Jennifer Grace, and Balderson muse Pleasant Gehman.
Hell Town follows the melodramatic antics of high school seniors clashing over love, sex, and betrayal. In the middle of all the everyday drama of one-sided infatuations, backstabbing bitchiness, bottled-up sexuality, sibling rivalry and general small-town angst, the Letter Jacket Killer is killing students in a variety of sadistic ways.

Stars: Leo Fafard, Amy Matysio, Jonathan Cherry, Sarah Lind, Aidan Devine | Written by Lowell Dean, Bannister Bergen | Directed by Lowell Dean
I remember seeing the bright neon 80’s style action-movie poster for WolfCop a few months ago and I immediately, without knowing any details, wanted to see the film, and I finally had the opportunity recently for this Frightfest review.
Lowell Dean (13 Eerie) writes and directs what I can only really refer to as a “Canadian werewolf comedy action horror film”, yeah, one of those now exists.
Now, immediately this felt like a television production, and that’s not me putting this down, but the opening credits, the style in which the film is shot, and the fast-paced comedic tone felt like a modern television comedy horror show. Within the first two minutes we’ve had boobs, beer, blood and graffiti, and the fun has only just begun.

In the new supernatural horror movie Way of the Wicked, Christian Slater lives up to his first name and plays a man of God. But he’s not without his flaws. As director Kevin Carraway told us, “It was definitely different for me to see Christian play that kind of dark person. He is such a fantastic actor that I knew he would bring that character to life."
" Even on set, watching some of the decisions he made, he is such a professional. I can totally understand why he has had such longevity in this business and I would love to work with him again in the future.”
Carraway said there was no ego, not even with the press mobbing him the moment he stepped onto set. “When he first showed up, reporters wanted to interview Christian. The energy on the set was amazing. He would go around and speak with everyone.

Wolfcop is a horror comedy from CineCoup. This title is completed and the film will release in select theatres June 6th, 2014. Wolfcop deals with an alcoholic cop, who is transformed into a hairy beast through a Satanic ritual. The film is from director Lowell Dean (13 Eerie). Also, the film stars Leo Fafard (Grace), Amy Matysio (Stranded), Jonathan Cherry and Sarah Lind. A preview of the film's launch is here. Director Dean gives more backstory on the character Wolfcop. Dean says of this werecreature: “my vision for Wolfcop was always somewhere between monster and anti-hero.” As well, Dean has taken some of the inspiration for the character from classic creatures of the past "I wanted the look to be an homage to the practical-effects werewolves of the past, characters like Lon Chaney Jr.'s Wolfman and Michael J. Fox as Teen Wolf -- but with a violent twist -- hence, the ridiculously large claws.

Some actors, like Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, see acting as a craft and pick their roles accordingly, only appearing in a movie every few years.
Others — say, Christian Slater, for instance — presumably choose their scripts the same way a group of fraternity brothers decide where to get pizza from on a Friday night: hastily, and almost certainly under the influence.
With this summer's release of "Stranded," which features Slater as the leader of an American moonbase squad that ends up — you guessed it — stranded in space, we've decided to take a look back at the 25 (yes, 25) Christian Slater movies you're least likely to have seen over the past decade.

Reviewing truly bad cinema can be one of the purest forms of entertainment a film critic can experience. Crafting a review of a meritless mess can serve as the antithesis to what the job normally entails – even handily looking at all of a movie’s components be they big or small in a way that is fair and without prejudice, preconceived notions or bullying. When a film is truly horrendous there is little one can do besides tear it apart. Then there are films like the sci-fi thriller Stranded, an experience so without identity, spark or narrative drive it evokes no emotion one way or the other. I exited this low budget effort feeling as if I hadn’t seen anything, like it had all been a dream and was already beginning to slowly seep from my mind as the tasks of a new day slowly replaced it.

Stranded (review) opens in limited release today and we've got an exclusive clip to share with you. Christian Slater plays Gerard, a man who leads three other astronauts on a mission, when a meteor suddenly collides with their space station putting the lives of the entire crew in danger.
Those on board quickly learn that spores from the meteorite can replicate cell structure, reproduce, and mutate. Ava (Amy Matysio), the only female astronaut becomes infected, showing signs of pregnancy at a rapid rate. Within 36 hours she gives birth to a creature that mutates into the life form of another crew member. As the astronauts begin to experience this sinister presence, the virus spreads and Gerard urges for the killing of Ava. The alien being targets the crew one by one, leaving those remaining to destroy it before all are killed.

Title: Stranded Director: Roger Christian Starring: Christian Slater, Brendan Fehr, Amy Matysio, Michael Therriault Rote, declamatory representations of paranoia, fear, delusion and counter-attack get cycled through in “Stranded,” a low-budget science-fiction actioner that unfolds on a heightened emotional pitch which doesn’t leave much room for intrigue or escalating tension. Starring Christian Slater, the futuristic movie is set on the lunar surface, but it lacks the overall virtuosity of “Moon,” the visual elegance of the flawed but interesting “Europa Report,” or even the outlandish lunacy of “Apollo 18.” In short, it’s a paycheck project for all involved, and nothing that those outside of diehard genre completists need waste their time on. Shadowlocked's old friend Roger Christian, creator of the original lightsaber for Star Wars (A New Hope), has just married in Toronto and was kind enough to send us a few pics. Star Wars Academy award winner Roger wed Lina Dhingra at Toronto's prestigious Hunt Club. After the Anglican and Indian ceremonies the bride and groom were escorted into the dining hall by 2 young laser sword wielding Jedis and two formidable-looking 501 Storm Troopers. Then a Bollywood dance troupe entered and even the stormtroopers got their Bhangra on!
And here's Roger on the happy day with Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Mortal Instruments Producer Don Carmody, a fellow academy award winner for Chicago.
Roger won the Academy Award for his work on Star Wars (1977) and was Oscar-nominated for Alien (1979). He returned to the Star Wars universe in the role of assistant director for The Phantom Menace (1999), and has directed 14 movies in his own right,...

Seeing movies like Stranded makes one appreciate something like Alien even more. The former is a dime a dozen, while the latter is all too rare. Obviously Ridley Scott’s masterpiece proves what is possible despite a small cast and limited budget and locations. Too often though what we get is something like Stranded, derivative and unimaginative and a total waste of time.
The movie wastes no time getting started. A little more setup might have helped. After being informed that the action takes place on a moon base, a sudden meteor shower damages communication systems and thrusts the four crew members into an emergency situation. Said crew consists of Gerard (Christian Slater), Dr. Krauss (Brendan Fehr), Ava (Amy Matysio), and Bruce (Michael Therriault).

What can be better than an alien movie with Christian Slater? Okay, so there are several things. But Stranded pits the erstwhile TV star against replicating aliens in space. The film stars Slater and Brendan Fehr. Christian Piers Betley wrote the film, and Roger Christian directs. Yes, if you had a Christian in your name, you had a high probability of working on this picture.
First we have the trailer to share with you, followed by a sampling of stills from the film, as well as its synopsis and various release dates on different platforms.

Dig on the new trailer and poster for the Christian Slater driven Stranded. While youre at it make a notation on your calendar as weve got a release date for you. Stranded looks a bit like Alien meets The Thing with a significantly less endearing ensemble. You wont find a Sigourney Weaver or Kurt Russell here instead weve got Christian Slater fronting the ensemble. Despite Slaters sometimessketchy career decisions (Alone in the Dark Hollow Man II anyone) Stranded looks like it could surprise.

"What if she's right? What if there's something else inside the station?" Image Entertainment has debuted the official Us trailer for Stranded, a very low budget indie sci-fi film from Roger Christian about a space station gone awry after a meteor storm. The international cast is lead by Christian Slater, but includes Brendan Fehr, Amy Matysio and Michael Therriault. We featured an early promo trailer when this was selling in Berlin, but this is a brand new trailer and it has some cool twists in the second half with the repeating "I'm not going insane!" line. That's about all to appreciate though, as this otherwise looks terrible. Here's the official release trailer for Roger Christian's Stranded, in high def from Apple: Four isolated astronauts on board a bio-dome space craft, experience a ghostly intercession after a meteor storm, leading to paranoia, fear and death. The film was produced by Minds Eye Entertainment in Canada.

Like “Alien”, but from the director of “Battlefield Earth”. I guess you could sell “Stranded” as being “From the Christians” (that would be Christian Slater and Roger Christian). It’s yet another “stranded in an isolated location with an alien that wants to peel off our skin and take us over” movie in the vein of “Alien”. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone whips out one of those devices that starts pinging the location of the alien at some point. Check out the first trailer for “Stranded” below. It doesn’t look entirely awful, which is a surprise. Stars: Christian Slater, Brendan Fehr, Amy Matysio, Michael Therriault | Written by Christian Piers Betley | Directed by Roger Christian
Whereas the name Christian Slater once meant a sign of a great movie (I’m thinking of the likes of Heathers, Mobsters, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and his magnum opus, Pump Up the Volume), today it tends to mean low-budget, badly scripted straight to DVD fodder. The last Slater film I watched, Sofia, was a bit of a mess. The film could have been an action-packed espionage thriller, but instead the film saw both actor and director seemingly out of their depth – with Slater literally trying to “act” like a tough guy without backing it up with any actual physicality. So I approached Stranded with a bit of trepidation, even moreso given that director Roger Christian was responsible for the atrocity that was Battlefield Earth…

Director: Roger Christian. Writer: Christian Piers Betley. Cast: Christian Slater, Brendan Fehr, Amy Matysio and Michael Therriault. This reviewer is going to have to remind himself to avoid direct-to-dvd releases starring actor Christian Slater (Playback). The last several releases that have hosted this actor have not been great, or even watchable. Slater's latest, Stranded, is another lackluster effort. And this time, events take place, B-movie style, in space. Stranded borrows several sci-fi elements from other films and the delivery of this space set semi-thriller is lackluster. The film follows four crew members on the Moon Base Ark or Vargas. A meteor strike knocks out their communications (of course) and there is a general loss of power, heat and oxygen supplies. To top it off, the meteors contain an alien spore, which is soon contaminating everyone and everything, including character Ava's (Amy Matysio) womb. A creature is hatched and air ducts are used for devious.

So, Christian Slater stars in some sci-fi horror titled Stranded? Had no idea, but let’s take a look! We have the first trailer, poster and some pretty weird images from the whole thing, and I guess that Slater’s (and only Slater’s) fans will enjoy. The movie comes from director Roger Christian and revolves around four isolated astronauts who experience a ghostly intercession after a meteor storm, leading to paranoia, fear and death. Or something like that… Roger Christian directed this sci-fi nightmare from a script written by Christian Piers Betley, and beside Slater, the rest of the cast also includes Amy Matysio, Michael Therriault, and...

Tagline: "Fear is the infection." There are a few genres that go well together. Horror and science fiction is often a compelling blend of genres. Director Roger Christian (Battlefield Earth) brings both of these elements into his upcoming film Stranded. The darkened hallways, blood smeared instrument panels and dangerous air hatches offer the thrills. Meanwhile, the crew of an isolated bio-dome are attacked by mutated spores from a rogue asteroid, which brings a science fiction aspect. Both science fiction and horror come together in this film to create for some very dangerous scenarios. And, the first trailer for Stranded has recently been released at the European Film Market. The clip, hosted below, shows Col . Gerard Brauchman (Christian Slater), who is trying to keep his crew together in a chaotic environment. Meanwhile, an alien parasite has been hatched by Ava Cameron (Amy Matysio) and it is murderous and bloodthirsty. Watch the...

"Whatever comes out of that pod - kill it!" The first, and hopefully last, trailer we see for this cheesy B-movie sci-fi thriller Pos. I hate to be so harsh so quick, but this doesn't look good, at all. That said, I'm a sucker for anything sci-fi and had to at least give it a look, which is the most I suggest for anyone. ShockTillYouDrop found an early sales trailer for the sci-fi horror Stranded, starring Christian Slater and Amy Matysio. Here's the first official sales trailer for Roger Christian's Stranded, originally from Styd: Four isolated astronauts on board a bio-dome space craft, experience a ghostly intercession after a meteor storm, leading to paranoia,...
