Pointless Celebrities is the prime-time Saturday spin-off of Pointless. However, just like most celebrity editions of shows, it pails in comparison.
Surely enough, it's the same game show, but with celebrity contestants playing for charity and occasionally some filler. The questions are pretty much the same as the original, so they aren't as dumbed down as on other celebrity versions of game shows (eg, Mastermind).
And of course, Alexander and Richard make for a great comedy duo, especially with the celebrities around. There are familiar faces, and there are faces you've never heard of before.
In the end, it's what it is, but seeing regular members of the public playing is better, in any game show that is.

I'm an American and I love pointless a lot. It does get to me when they start doing super British Trivia that I have a hard time participating in (Like Formula One Racing, Puppeteers, or Royalty Questions). But All is fair in the world in Trivia.
My least favorite thing about the show is the constant forcing of "Getting to know" contestants. I don't know if this is more of a British thing, but I could truly care less what hobbies or jobs everyone has. With celebrities edition this is heightened. They seem to talk way more than answering the questions on most episodes and it's even worse with comedians who are constantly interrupting for a type of humor I don't think an American can appreciate.
In a final note too, I don't think many of these people they claim to be "Celebrities" are really celebrities. I'm American once again and haven't heard of 95% of all celebrities' I've seen on this version. But even I think they are stretching the meaning of the word just to get new people on.

While they may stretch the word 'celebrity' with some of the contestants this is a fairly harmless spin-off of the teatime ratings winner.
It has all the charm of the usual format, and sometimes it boasts some odd contestants who don't normally pop up on this sort of programme. Robert Lindsay being a recent example.
A harmless spin-off overall.
