Pretty much what you could expect

"Kasperletheater 3D - Kasperle und der magische Besen" is a short film that lasts slightly over half an hour and is particularly directed at children. It has basically all the ingredients that can make puppet theaters worth a watch, but in the end it's just not the same as watching the characters and hearing the voices live. It includes Kasperle (Punchinello? not sure if that's the right term), his friend, a street cleaner, a wicked witch and a crocodile. The number of characters is pretty fine for that running time and it's good they also added an animal. The story is absurd as it should be with people swimming and rowing through oceans to far-away islands or flying on magic broomsticks.

The sceneries and puppets were so-so, but I quite liked the work from the voice-actors and the way they interacted with the audience. It's certainly difficult to foresee how children would react and interact with the audience if you really just present it to a camera, but I thought they did a fine job. I think it's an okay watch for those who really adore "Kasperletheater" and for children if you live in a smaller place and "Kasperletheater" isn't a common form of entertainment, otherwise go for the real deal and see it live.
