Season 1 was great, season 2 ruined by the clown Sam
Garymc28 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed everything about season 1 and binge watched it hoping Kate would win. I won't say anything so I don't add any spoilers. She was the smartest of a pretty dumb bunch.

The rest of them were so gullible it made me realise here in the uk (season 1) we are quite intuitive and pretty good at recognising someone being deceitful. Most of them anyway!

I decided to watch Australia season 2 after uk season 2 and wow it was so bad. The moment I saw Sam's face I knew it would be bad. He's got to have the most annoying cartoony type face I have ever seen and the way he called himself the sheriff and used his fingers for guns every 3 seconds was just cringy.

He had no personality whatsoever.

I just don't understand why after Annabelle told them all exactly what was happening (her and Luke nailed it), why they didn't go with her theory. No the dumb dumbs banished her instead, man are Australians all that dumb? I hope not.

Why would anyone in the right mind believe a cartoon character like Sam over Annabelle and Luke... I'm still shocked.

Anyway I would have stopped watching there and then only I hoped he would be caught then the show would improve... but nope. The only satisfying episode was the last one... thank you Camille!

He actually thought he deserved the money because it was all his plan.... Like she wasn't in the game from the start either... that's when he showed his true colours. I hope Australia gave him hell after that episode. Just an awful disingenuous person... Please make season 3 better, no more annoying SAMs please!

Bad editing
jodeshoughton15 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was my least favourite Traitors so far (although I still enjoyed it), but what let it down was the incredibly bad editing. I felt like the editors were traitors trying to throw us off the scent as you couldn't believe that what you were watching in any way reflected what had happened. It made things not make sense (eg the night before Mark was murdered we hear him say the next person he's going for is Marielle. Then everyone seems to forget this but then later we find out he'd mentioned different names to everyone - I'm pretty sure I didn't just miss that part). Please don't mess with reactions either - the show isn't honest but let the editing be. Also, one 'day' they had the challenge and it got dark, then they had the shield challenge and miraculously it was light again, then they had the banishment and murder.

Series 2 , one of the best .
daveditch-532917 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I like the concept of traitors and most episodes I've seen ( Aus, UK & US ) are very entertaining. However Aus series 2 stands out above so many of the others .

That for me is due to various reasons. The competitors speak more bluntly and the humour , at times a little hard , is very much to my taste . It's well presented and the quips and comments do give a chuckle.

As with all the traitors series some of the challenges can be a little bit "it's a knockout" and tedious but the real fun is people watching.

Aus series 2 has to go down as the one with the highest proportion of gullible easily led faithfuls ever and that makes for fascinating viewing . They formulate a plan , one persuasive person speaks up at the round table and it all goes out of the window with some random faithful faithful getting booted. Frustrating , amusing and entertaining all in one breath.

That brings me to the traitors . Sam in particular is probably the least likeable traitor you don't want to take the cash ever. His arrogance and self belief knows no bounds. Amusingly in the nail biting last10 min of the finale he fails big time , his downfall , at the hands of the recruited traitor he was seeking to use and abuse but judged so badly . His bemused petulance and the fact he couldn't believe he'd failed whilst trying to blame his nemesis for that failure was the best ending ever and still gives me a chuckle.

Even the closing narrative referred to it as a warning.

Great fun to watch . I've only knocked it down from 10 to 9 because I usually go get a cup of tea during the uninteresting screamathons that are called challenges .

My new fav reality game show! It's like The Mole but more!
TheWatcher1714 December 2022
Absolutely in love with The Traitors (Australia). As a huge fan of The Mole, including the new reboot, one of the biggest feedback I had (along with many others) was that they wished The Mole also had stake in the game as well to make the game a bit more competitive. Here comes The Traitors, a new game that is slightly similar, but with a much better twist - the "traitors" are selected from the contestants pool (not a hired actor), and everyone has to compete to win the money. The social game is even more intense in this one, because you have to stay off everyone's radar so you don't look suspicious, AND the Traitors' radar so they don't 'murder' you for being a threat.

In this debut Australian version, I really liked their casting and Roger is great host as well. Each episode takes you on a wild ride where you don't know who's next.

I haven't seen confirmation for a season 2 yet, but in the finale they did mention see you next year. So I hope that's confirmation lol. Love this show!

Disappointed ending
amandatow25 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show however it is absolutely ridiculous Alex won. I understand one recruiting but 2 that's so stupid. If a traitor votes out all other traitors then they should have to play the rest of the game without another recruiting. The plays were not aware another traitor was recruited. Kate played the game great and she really should have won. Alex didn't play the game well she just got lucky. Kate would have figured Alex out if she was never recruited I know she could have declined the recruiting letter. But there shouldn't have been a 2 recruitment. Also it gives the faithfuls more of a chance to win.

If you are smart, you will love this show.
pillucaro20 December 2022
I am not usually writing reviews, it's my first one actually but i feel like this show needs more love.

After watching "The Mole", i was left with a gap,, something was not right. And a friend recommended me this show. I managed to finish it less than a day. Even though i did not like the winner, I loved the show.

Throughout the show I would find myself pausing the show for 5-10 minutes straight and calculating what my moves would be if I were a traitor. It really turns the wheels inside your brain.

You see thought processes which feel more genuine and make more sense rather than the ones in " The Mole". It always makes you question what would you do in the player's situation or whether you would've chosen better.

The cast is diverse, from silent players to more vocal ones with bigger personalities which does make it more interesting.

Nice looking mansion, nice sets, nice contests and nice costumes, really portrays them as murderers from a secret order.

Witty and good looking presenter. If he would ever steal my wife I would totally understand it.

Good ending
rammingsarah10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I don't blame Camille for what she did. You couldn't trust Sam and i would have done the same. She wasn't going to get any with Sam there so she wasn't losing anything. But of all the traitor shows i watched, this one did have the dumbest faithfuls. They went with whatever name was mentioned last instead of thinking for themselves. It's good to go with others but you do have to figure things out for yourself because the traitors will try to confuse you. Can't go by this one is quiet or this one is loud. People are different. I do believe Camille and Blake should have won the money though. ........

This is how PUTINs are made.
mkovaceva763 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This was by far the most interesting season of the franchise. As a social experiment it only tells you how no decorated Policemen cant tell a BS even if it reeks of it, nor that people cannot make free decisions despite being psychologists who also studied compliance and Milgram among other. It happened in every season but this was epic. It makes you wonder about the credibility of all the "specialist" staring from law enforcement to Mental health professionals. I have never watched BB, love island or similar but this is a compulsory watch for revealing human stupidity. This micro world just showed us how we actually behave in the real world where we are swayed by politicians.

Not as good as the UK version, but the ending was gratifying
twilightfalls-8862029 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
At first it seemed like the players were just really, really bad at this game. And it's true, they were - traitors included. Sam, the self-proclaimed master puppeteer failed to eliminate all but one of his fellow traitors. But then I noticed a pattern. Every single woman who identified and called out Sam or another traitor at the round table was promptly banished by her fellow faithfuls. Hell, Annabel named both of the traitors very early on, and the faithfuls ignored her completely. Then a thought came to me: "I wonder if Australia is a particularly sexist country?" After some investigation I discovered that research has shown Australia to have some of the worst attitudes towards women of any Western country. Then I could name what had been bothering me throughout the show. Part of the reason the faithfuls were totally unable to band together behind the women who figured it out is that they were blinded by their own discriminatory views about women. And not just men, although the ex-policeman who called Anabel's excellent insight "a masterclass in manipulation" has a lot to answer for. No, unfortunately it's clear that Australian women share this blind spot - like when everyone suddenly turned on Gloria after she called out Sam.

The only redeeming feature was how salty Sam (and Blake) got at the end when Camille denied them the money they were so sure they deserved (they didn't, lol). That was entertaining.

Heavily favors the Traitors
karmakrb2 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I like this host a lot. He was fun to watch.

1) Good thing in favor of the show, The players are all from normal life (not Reality TV stars), it was great to see different personalities working together.

2) Good thing, Not all were athleticly inclined.

3) Not great, Nobody with obvious disabilities beyond some age or obesity related issues. & Even those were mild. I would have liked to see a bit more diversity in this aspect.

4) Not so great aspect, The challenges were extremely difficult or impossible for anyone with disabilities. I would have liked to see some more mental challenges. Especially when it came to the Shields.

5) Neutral, Some of the people I thought would be better at funding the Traitors, actually sucked at it & were easily manipulated.

6) Bad, Heavily favors the Traitors. & when the Traitors are found & removed, they just recruit more to their ranks. So it continues to be in their favor.

Over all it is better than the American version.

A Must-Watch Experience
HasankaDesigner30 August 2023
I like the Australian version of The Traitors the best out of the three versions I've seen. The games are different and more interesting than the American and British versions. The surprises and psychological mind games are also stronger.

Even though the first season started a bit slow, I enjoyed it. The second season that's airing now is crazy, especially episodes 5 and 6.

They really did a great job with the casting as well, all the players from both seasons are very strong and entertaining to watch.

I recommend this show a lot. It's really fun to watch, and once you start, you'll want to keep watching!

Enjoyable.
kenbo-8736016 July 2023
I preferred our own version (the British one) but this was still good.

I binged it over a weekend. After the first couple of episodes I decided to skip past the challenges. They weren't very entertaining and felt more like filler for each episode. I may have missed the odd discussion but I can live with that. I want to see the scheming and the back stabbing play out, not someone walking over a bridge with trapdoors or retrieving something out of a lake.

As with our version though I was never too sure which side I wanted to win. I can admire a good traitor. Especially when they are saying one thing and doing another like it's normal to them. I can also admire a faithful when they cleverly put together who it is and why.

All in all it's a good watch and harmless entertainment. Will your favourite win? You'll have to watch it to see.

Season 2 WORST ever
craiglesuk-15 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season two of this season of the Traitors was the worst of any version worldwide. In fact it was unwatchable due to the arrogance of Sam. Yes, I know we love to hate a villain but this guy became unbearable to watch and listen to. The producers needed to show a little less of him. I had to keep fast forwarding in the end. Of course the producers knew the conclusion - that he was going to get his comeuppance - but getting there was just too painful to watch. Even at the end his arrogance had him calling foul and that he should have won because he did all the work. Boo hoo. Thank God he ended up with nothing. And as for the rest of the group, they were right; this season should have been called the Dummies. Particularly stupid were Liam, Kieth, Hannah - and Sarah who flip flopped so many times she made me dizzy. A truly hopeless individual. Luke and Annabelle deserved to win but the idiocy of the other faithfuls was their downfall. Three Traitors left standing at the end. Says so much about how stupid the faithfuls were at this game.

Feels more polished than the UK and US
jaxdia5 August 2023
From the first episode watching this after the US and UK versions, and for some reason this version ticks all the boxes. Suave and sophisticated host with excellent humour (I felt Claudia took it far too seriously), and the gold masks for the traitors was a great touch.

I thought it was hilarious seeing the traitors at the start of the UK one in the tower just holding their heads down pretending not to see each other, not even putting the hoods back up before the last one came in. I mean, really?

Also the contestants are allowed to drive. Which is apparently rare af.

Whole thing just felt more polished and professional than the others, and as much as I like Claudia, I felt she didn't really fit, and Alan, while a legend, didn't seem right either. Rodger, even though I had no idea who he was, just seemed so natural and effortless in his role.

I really need a season two.

Just Finished Last Episode
alinafb-9525929 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly rewinded 20 times to see Craig's reaction as it was priceless!! Even though I did felt bad for him as he trusted Alex too much and it defines that this game is not about feelings, but cutthroat cold chilling strategy which Alex played very well and that's why she took home the prize!. Kate got very nervous at the end and didn't use her brain which she could off eliminate Alex with one comment to Craig that she was on the death row to be killed with him, so there is no way she can be a traitor! And another thing Craig, when someone swears on his mom's life, you should believe them as this could have brought you a win as well! But great show overall, enjoyed from the beginning towards the end 👍👍👍

Better than US and UK
khaverk6 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched two seasons of all three versions and Australia is the best so far (still waiting for the rest of NZ to drop). The people are real, not plastic like the US "reality" players were in Season 2, and the challenges are more fun to watch. The UK and US used the same challenges, so they were not as interesting the second time around. Knew exactly what was going to happen at the end of Season 2 and was glad to see the smarmy Sam get his comeuppance. Can't believe he still was arguing at the end how hard he "worked" and "deserved" the $. Sociopathic tendendecies there. Way to go Camille! Nice to see the traitors' dilemma play out too, for the first time. Each show has had different endings, so it's interesting to see how the different play changes the results. Finally, Rodger is my favorite host as he is more naturally sarcastic and he uses it well.

The majority of the cast have nuts for brains. Or maybe that is mirroring the viewer.
simon_simpan1817 December 2023
Now to the series.

I've seen 4 sessions now, the uk, swedish and Au versions. As done with all episodes and seasons , I basically skip all the challenges that has nothing to do Helping with the overall game at all, so it's pointless. It's Like a separate thing from the actual game.

Focusing on this season, I am concerned about the professionals people made out themselves to be and having so much peanuts for braincells. I don't know, maybe it mirrors the viewers also, that is why the producers casts this way, for the viewers to recognize themselves. Nahmsayin.

I notice the pattern in all these competitions is that there are the dumbnuts that makes it the farthest.

Even the Uk version. Although that was the best season of all because of the traitor act was astounding.

Scripted and embarrassing to watch!
thomasdavies-1519129 January 2024
The Aus version of this show is truly awful. I got hooked from the UK version and then watched the Aus and US versions which were good but the celebrities made it feel scripted and tacky.

I decided to give Season 2 of the Aus version a good go and I honestly cannot watch anymore. This is a totally scripted and fabricated pile of garbage. Everyone agrees in the morning for one person and then switch to the person leading the round table even with zero evidence. The show doesn't need to be scripted and it doesn't need social media influencers as contestants either.

I'd recommend the UK version as it gets really spicy and you can tell they are real people!

Season 2 is terrible
nslinin11 February 2024
I love Traitors, I've watched Traitors US, Traitors UK, and then started watching Traitors AU. Season 1 of AU wasn't bad, I really liked that the shield protected them from banishment and murder, thought that made a lot of sense, and really made it worthwhile for traitors and faithful. Season 2 AU, they took that away, so the shield only protected you from murder just like the other versions.

My main problem with season 2 though is the people... These are some of the dumbest people I've ever seen. I've never wanted to throw the remote at the TV more than watching them. They all deserve to lose, both faithfuls, and traitors. Just give the money to the host, Rodger, as a bonus for having to sit through their season.

Please use this season's footage if you've ever been incarcerated by these 2 former law enforcement officials. They're clearly terrible investigators, and any cases they've worked on should be thrown out the window. I can just imagine them being like, well we found this guy covered in blood holding the murder weapon at the scene, but he's the victims former lover, so we're convinced it was the 90 year old woman at the deli across the street, who has no connection to the victim whatsoever, because she didn't get off the toilet to answer the door when we came to question her. That makes her our prime suspect!

Flawed game structure
andrewiangillies21 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the UK and US version, but the Australian version revealed problems with the game structure, it left a slightly sour taste afterwards, and I couldn't feel any happiness at all for the winner. I'm not sure I will watch it again.

Contains spoilers

When the first traitor recruitment happened, the players were told. When the second traitor recruitment happened, the players were not told. The traitors already have a slight advantage (and I can't see how it's possible for any one faithful to take the money home alone...it must be split). But failing to tell the group that there had been a new traitor recruitment seems strikingly unfair to the faithful group. Moreover, it's hard to feel support for any traitor in the final, that has only been a traitor for a short period.

Not a fair game - mistakes
valargitis4 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love the concept of those games. Watched the UK and US version and recently finished the Australia version.

The game was staged at first perfectly, and the choice of the original traitors we pretty good, although Claire seemed to not be comfortable with this role. Maybe her choice wasn't the wisest one but they got 3/4 right.

There were some serious flaws though, which makes the show much less exciting (and suspicious).

First of all, the concept is supposed to be for the faithful to try and find the traitors and banish them. As for the traitors, they must remain hidden and last until the end. So, a fair result should be if the faithful find the traitors, then they are the only ones left and they should split the money. But in this game, someone wanted to give all the money to one person (since apparently its more exciting to say someone won 1/4 million rather than 4 people won 62.5k each) so they kept recruiting traitors even though the faithful took out all 4 original traitors.

One more thing, the faithful in the final table are not supposed to know how many traitors are left. And in the other versions when there is a recruitment, it is not announced, so nobody will know how many traitors are left. Here they did something to ensure the faithful have zero chance of winning. After 4 traitors are gone (and already announced there is one recruitment) with only 5 people left, they decide to recruit another one, but not tell the players. So within the 5 people 2 traitors (one of them hidden) all they had to do is work together, since they only needed one vote to banish someone and then 4 players with 2 traitors included, its a definite win.

Another one, the amount of the prize money (being exactly 250,000 dollars) shows that they had already in mind how much they would give. Even if a mission failed, they would make an extra mission to give the rest of the money (since the last one was simple and was worth 40,000 dollars, if they needed more could be 60 or 70). Which makes all the missions unimportant, so why do we need to watch them?

I understand there were a lot of players, so no time to show everything, but I literally reached episode 6-7 and I saw Paul and Craig, and I honestly couldn't remember having seen them before. Paul stayed until late stages, I must have heard him speaking 3 times total and that's it. Imagine Paul's family, who will sit down to watch the episodes and they will see him for like 1-2 mins total, when he stayed until the last 6. Again, very bad execution.

Finally, the worst thing about these games is when the game master has not thought through the game and just decides randomly whats next. In the last banishment there were 4 people to vote. Even number. Not 3 not 5. So, what if they voted 2 people with 2 votes each? The concept of the traitors is that first night someone gets murdered so that we always have an odd number of votes for every banishment. That way, if the votes are split between 2 people, they need to revote and someone will have more votes in the end. But if here we had 2 votes for Alex and 2 for Craig for example what would they do? Toss a coin? Amateur planning.

Faithful deserved to win, but keeping a passive player like Craig (Who wouldn't be able to shoot an elephant in an elevator) all the way and the production trying badly to make sure one person gets all the money, they stood no chance.

Congrats to Alex, she did not deserve to win simply because she took out all the traitors very quickly, she should have left Nigel for the last 5. Without the second recruitment, she would not have won, since the other 4 people would know there is one traitor and she wouldn't have Kate's help to survive at that point.

The best players in the game were Nigel, Kate as faithful (she was bad as traitor), Mark and Midy. Too bad the first banishment was for a very promising player, I would like to see how a chess player would deal with the game.

Really????
carlapug30 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
After watching season 2 of Uk I seen season 2 Aus was on iplayer so got straight into it... Iv watched a few.... Us, Canada, New Zealand.

This one is a hard watch!! Honestly I wonder what they all must be thinking watching it back... it's terrible, Sam really ruined it for me. He is NOT the best traitor there is.. actually the Uk season 2 had a much better traitor which I think is the best Iv seen.

Anyways I got really frustrated with this season n maybe if they're just listened to what EVERYONE was saying Blake n Camille could of shared at the end if they had just got his little smug face out. I'm kind of glad none of them went away with any money because they honestly were given every opportunity to help themselves n they did not!!!

I know it's easy for me to sit n say this as I know who the traitors are n I'm not in the game.. but come on!!!! You know fine well it could of been a different outcome if just got Sam out when Annabelle n Luke said.. they always kept saying Sam n then never done it.. dumdums they are, it's put me off wanting to see another season of AUS tbf. :(

Spoilers
dan-451-27349126 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers!!

Watched the UK version first, with it's believable ordinary people. Some production influence to make a narrative, or it was so subtle that was passable.

I really think Oz version can learn a trick or too while still doing its own thing. First is little interview with every banished or murdered person, capture how they feel about the process, and give some closure.

The host Roger was very passable, did a good job, didn't steal the show or fumble.

Also why you did Paul dirty like that? I get some people are more photogenic or have a better story, but from 24 people he makes it to the final 7 and yet hasn't said 10 words in the whole program? Felt like he murdered someone in real life and they tried to cut him out of the show completely. Same with Craig, barely visible till the last 8. If you want me to be invested in the outcome then I need to know who these people are.

I understand why a new traitor had to be introduced, because if there is just one and they get eliminated then the game ends 2 episodes too early. But this just felt massively stacked against the Faithful, zero incentive for them to hack off the hydra's heads if they keep respawning, better to identify them yourself and survive till the endgame.

With Matt repeatedly asking for the witness, it was so overdone I thought about skipping episodes till I saw that he had gone, so uncomfortable.

Loved Theresa, Marielle and of course, Nige.

But the end just felt so exploitative, close up of Craig's face when he realises that he's been duped, and that he was choosing between hanging or firing squad after Lewis went. And then we realise that we just watched 12 hours for a really bitter after taste. So the producers counter that by giving Alex the 'best' (maybe one of the only) reason for wanting the money...There's no celebration, just a realistic acceptance that the good guy doesn't win, people will lie to your face and betray you if it benefits themselves. You can't win when the deck is stacked, so best off not playing.... or watching.

Pretty bad.
nightauditor-8538717 July 2023
I first watched season one of UK traitors here in the UK then season one of traitor's USA via BBC I player on catch up.

Now just finished the traitors Australia again via I player.

Compared to the UK and us versions I'm sorry but this whole thing is very low rent from the low production values of the copycat challenges and surprises to the very very lower division presenter .

I'm quite happy to accept our UK presenter would not be that well known outside the UK and being a fellow Scot I'm biased towards the us version presenter ,he's just different class.

I just think this is a programme you can't cheap out on .

I'd give season 2 a try to see if they learn the lesson but don't hold out a lot of hope..

Season 1 is a 10, Season 2 is a 1
maustintadlock21 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season one is one of the best Traitors seasons of the franchise to date. I enjoy that there are no "reality stars" or celebrities and everyone goes in with zero expectations or knowledge of one another. The twists and manipulation by the traitors are so good and make for good reality tv.

Season two ruined the Australia franchise. Both the faithfuls and traitors have no tact to their game and it's a mess of a show. It's an extremely frustrating season to watch as a viewer when faithfuls who are eliminated early and even Roger, the host, basically laying out who the traitors are and others being so oblivious the whole time. Sam goes above and beyond to make himself out to be a "bad guy" for reality tv when it just comes across as immature and childish.

Australia has both the BEST and WORST season of the entire franchise across all countries.
