Off the wall

There are Christian movies and their are Christmas movies, some good, some bad. Christmas Grace will never and should never escape church basement showings before a congregation that I'm not sure thinks people behave as they do in this film.

I thought for a bit I was going back to the 50s when I remember a small toy store three blocks from my house in Brooklyn on Nostrand Avenue between Avenue J and Avenue K. Stores like the one that Ryan-Iver Klann and Rebekah Cook own haven't existed for decades. And I sure wouldn't think that Tim Kaiser would start a new one. Just days ago chain Toys R Us has just gone out of business.

But there it is. Klann and Cook are a Christian couple that own a small toy store in a small town and one fine day Tim Kaiser comes along and opens another one across the street. He's well financed and also pulls something sneaky and underhanded and the little toy store goes belly up.

But it rebounds in a few months because of an idea Klann has and pretty soon they've got Kaiser on the ropes business wise. Kaiser who's a real Grinch of a human being is really getting his.

What follows is so incredibly off the wall that I was stunned looking at the film. Believe me in real life NO ONE is that generous.

Not even hardcore evangelicals truly believe what happens here in their real lives.

Preachy but Watchable

This film is not as bad as many of its critics make out. I am a Christian but have no connection with the making of it. The whole concept could have been better handled with more experienced actors and better direction. The essential message that God's grace is available for those who seek it came through. The sudden faith conversion of Gary's business adversary was a little far fetched but that's ok given the nature of the film. I don't like watching films about zombies, mass murder and I can categorically say that this film is safe from all that!

A Christmas Turkey / A Christmas Disgrace

Christmas Grace tells the story of two rival toy store owners competing for business over several Christmas seasons. One of them is Gary (RyanIver Klann), a young toy store owner who runs an honest business and who tries to maintain a good reputation with his customers. Things are running smoothly for Gary until his business is threatened when a much larger toy company moves to the neighborhood. The owner of this larger company, Mr. Tollman (Tim Kaiser), is a ruthless businessman who voraciously wants to grow his business and eliminate competition. Since his most immediate competition is Gary's store, he sets his target on him. As the story unfolds, it becomes very clear that God is at work in the lives of these two men, and God's grace and providence work out in ways neither of them could have imagined.

There is nothing professional about this film. Its bad. It slow moving & anti climatic. Its also too preachy. I don't mind a religious message but they do hit you over the head with it every 2 minutes. This film is not worth your time.

I don't mind a religious message. I just don't like bad films.

Burn Every Copy of this

Nobody should have pay to watch this unless it is to see every DVD and film print burn.

Whoever wrote this had no skill at all. Whoever cast this must of used the casting couch. Nobody in this film could act. There is much better acting done in adult films.

If you want to bore someone then please put this on. If you hate someone give them this film. If you want to see how bad Christmas films can be then watch this.

I saw the reviews of this film and I had to judge it for myself. This film had so many "Good Reviews" and many "Bad Reviews". I had to see it just to see who was right. I figured out quickly the "Bad Reviews" were justified.

There is many things that can wrong in a film. The casting. The directing. The story itself. So what went wrong here? Well "Everything"! Mainly the story was just too stupid and the actors were all terrible.

Since this is a "Christmas Film" I expect a message about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. What I got here was a stupid film about a man who is a moron who is married to another moron.

The film is not just bad but it is also boring. The best thing about this film is knowing I never will have to see it again!

This Film Is Terrible

What a terrible film. The plot. The directing. The writing. The acting. The camera angles. Nothing is done by a professional.

In this film a fan has his faith tested when he loses his toy store business after a major competitor opens up his revival store across the street.

If you want to have a blast with this film then you need to invite friends over have keg of beer and then laugh at how bad this film gets and how stupid the ending is.

The best thing about this film is that you can take the DVD of it and have a pretty good size coaster for your coffee table.

I do not mind a religious theme I expect it in a Christmas movie. What I hate is poorly made films.

ALL The Negative Reviews Are Justified

Wow watching this is most likely worse than being water boarded. I can not fathom why this film has so many great reviews on this page. This film has no merits of quality in front of or behind the camera.

The screenplay is thin and the acting is high school level. The plot of this film reminds me that I have a plumbing problem and I need to get a new toilet.

If you do not believe that this film is terrible read the other reviews. It seems to me there is a few of us that were misled by bogus ratings!

Some jerk here said this film is suffering from "Unfair Criticism by angry people". That is not true. The majority of these good reviews were written by people who only have only reviewed this film. That tells me that the filmmaker is most likely behind these reviews.

Unbelievably bad. And they keep referring to 'Gad'! Everything about it is awful. Acting, direction and theme. Just truly terrible.

Low budget but clear Salvation message

As you have read in the synopsis, Christmas Grace tells the story of two toy store owners. One is a good Christian man who is honest and charitable, and the other one is a scrooge who tries to ruin the other toy store owner's business and eliminate competition. In this story God works through both of their lives and leads them to different circumstances blessing the honest toy store keeper and convicting the dishonest and mean store keeper. The reason why I consider this movie low budget is the low filming quality, but the acting is pretty decent, perhaps not the kind of acting you expect to see in multimillion dollar movies, but it wasn't that bad. I saw a few people criticize this movie because it has a lot of religion in it, but guess what? It's a Christian movie! So if it's a Christian movie, than you will have to expect to see a lot of talk about God. If you don't want a movie that talks about God a lot, then don't watch a Christian movie! But because I am a Christian, I know this movie had a great Salvation message and that's what makes it worth a good review. Jesus died on the Cross for everybody, and because of that we get to have His free gift of Eternal Life! And with this Gift, we can also have His forgiveness for our sins by asking Him to come into our heart and save us. Thank you

So Bad It Makes The Pope Hate Christmas

Christmas movies are nice to watch. They can be really good or really bad. This film SUCKS. I don't mind films with a "Christian Theme" I mean after all "Christmas" is about the birth of Jesus. What I hate is films that are badly done. The worse offenders are movies like this that have "nothing of value". Unless You want to make a coaster out of the DVD. The Jacket Art is much better than the film.

The problems with "Christmas Grace" is that the writing is bad. The cast is bad. The sound is bad. The plot is bad. The photography is bad.

In this film a man who is a Christian loses his toy store when a chain store opens up on the same street as his. This does not cause him to lose his faith but it also drives him to rebuild his life and later re-open his store.

The general idea of this film is fine "But it was badly done". The writer/director has no clue how to construct a film however none of the actors are any good. There is better acting in porn films.

If you look at the "GOOD REVIEWS" they were all written in 2-3 day period. That makes me question the integrity of them.

I think they were written by people who made the film.

DO NOT BOTHER TO WATCH THIS. MAYBE IS YOUR DRUNK IT MIGHT BE GOOD!

Cute, low budget, Christian, Christmas film

Okay so this is a low budget film but I love this type of feel good Christmas viewing.

The message behind the film is about God's grace and the main characters discover there is no limit to God's giving and Grace.

It's become one of my favourite Christmas films since I first saw it a few years ago.

It may not be the best but for the budget I think it's great.

Pretty Good

Decent Christmas Family Film, about two Toy Shop owners, with a good message, that we all enjoyed.

The latter half can appear as a promotional video for religion and in one particular segment of 10-15 minutes it occupies a lot of the time, but I was ok with it.

It isn't really a Christmas film. It starts at Christmas, ends at a Christmas a few years later but jumps around a little too much between times in the middle of the film and you are not always sure how many weeks or months have passed and what has happened during that time. There are one or two peculiar characters and scenes too. The owner of the bigger toy shop could have reduced costs by not having so many Directors on the board and staff.

The good toy shop owner was well played. It is a good film for the family, with a good message.

The 4.4 rating is a little harsh, it is better than that.

The plot of this film interested me. My family and myself started laughing at the bad dialog and the bad acting. We had to finish this because we just wanted to laugh. The ending is so ridiculous that if the person who owns this film had a sense of humor would let "Mystery Science Theater 3009" give this a spin.

I love Christmas film but this would be a lump of coal in your stocking!! However you can laugh at it because the acting is worse than the dialog!

That Smell is Coming From Your Television

Christmas time gives us many classic films. The 1959 film "Santa Claus" the 1964 film "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" and now we can add "Christmas Grace".

There is many "FAKE" reviews on this film and this is not one of them. I want to help spread the word that this film SUCKS!

I think people should gather their friends and watch it together. Make a drinking game out of this film. Every time someone says "Christmas Grace" or their is a cheesy moment then they take a drink. You need to do this because, that is the only way you can sit through this crap.

Christmas is about the birth of Christ. I love great films about Jesus but this is not a great a film. It is garbage.

The plot of this is a man loses his business but his faith in mankind after a ruthless company puts his store out of business. The best thing about this film is that you can use the DVD as a coaster to help prevent water rings on your table.

If your looking for great family entertainment looks for another movie. If you hate your family put this on

This was so bad I had to let everyone know

Christmas movies are enjoyable. They are family friendly & have lots of heart. By the end of most these films you feel great. My favorite films are always have a "Real Christmas" flare to them. I love films that have "Snow" in them. I also love it when they do incorporate what" Christmas" really is about.

Now as a Christian I was looking forward to watching this film after I read the back cover of the DVD. After I saw this film all I can say is "The general idea of the film was good but the film itself fails to be even remotely entertaining"

The plot was really truthful about the teaching of Christ but you get hit over the head with the "Message" and so the message gets "lost".

The screenplay was amateurish. The sets were not great and the acting was the worse.

Since his most immediate competition happens to be Gary s store, he sets his target on him. As the story unfolds it becomes very clear that God is at work in the lives of these two men, and Gods Grace and Providence work out in ways neither one of them could of imagined.

If you want to see how "NOT" to make a film this is a great example. This film could of been better had a better writer was brought in and gave a polish to the dialog.

This film should be remade but with a more talented creative team. TheWriter/Director of "Christmas Grace" Keith Perna has no talent of either.

I don't understand why people would like this movie

Something is telling me that people must be getting paid to give this film a good review. I saw many "Great Reviews" of this film so I had to watch it. What a huge mistake. I felt like i was ripped off watching this film.

I was expecting a great film but what I got was some angry old white guy buying a toy store and putting his competition out of business. Yes I felt sorry for the man who lost his store but I felt sorry for me because I bought this DVD hoping to discover a great film. What I got was film that wasted my money.

I wish there still Blockbuster Stores. I could have just rented this

The Worse

I love Christmas time. I love watching films about Christmas. Life is short so when Christmas comes around I look forward to everything that people do surrounding Christmas. From getting a tree to decorating the home. It is a special time of the year.

Watching Christmas movies is part of that. My family enjoys them. Last night however I came across this film and it sounded good so we watched it and it was the worse Christmas film I have ever seen.

Everything is bad about this film. You name what can be wrong with a movie and this film did it.

The idea of it was good just it needed to have a better screenplay and actors and director

With all the great reviews I saw on IMDb for this film I had to see it. I bought this in December and forgot I had it. This morning when I going through my DVD Collection I saw this film was still unopened. So after 6 months I got around ti watching this. It was a disappointment.

I thought this film was going to better than what was presented. As a viewer I was expecting a man who loses his faith and later regains it with the help of his family and the church. Instead what I saw was a film about a man who seems to be insane & borderline autistic.

The film is in no way shape or form entertaining! Its insulting that this man seems to keep putting his family's future at risk all the time. In reality we "Protect" our family first. "Charity Begons at Home".

The main villain in this film is a business man (of course). Yes he is stereo type but the redemption of him at the end is uninspiring.

Your standard feel-good Christmas film

I don't understand why people expect so much from a low budget Christmas film. It's meant to be lighthearted, Christmassy and make you feel happy. And that's exactly what it does. Yes it is cheesy but aren't all Christmas films? The characters are over the top lovely like they're from a cult or something but it has a nice feeling. I admit it does ram the whole Christian thing down your throat but so what? No one's forcing you to convert. Just enjoy the positive words but have your own beliefs. Some of the things the characters did was insane and something no one in their right mind would do, like give your arch enemy $200,000 because it was the Christian thing to do. I know this is unbelievable and no one should ever do this but at the end of the day it's just a film, not real life. Just enjoy the fantasy and don't take it seriously.

This Film Gives "Christmas Movies" a Bad Name

I am sure whoever wrote this film thought he had a winner however the film is no winner. The poorly constructed film suffers more problems than a senior citizen in a rest home on life support.

Let's start with the story. A man has owned a store for years. He gets put out of business by a man who opens up a competing store.

Our hero loses not only his store but not his faith. the reality is he lost his mind. In real life most women would of dumped him but his Stepford Wife sticks with him. See our hero decides to re-open his store after he makes a fortune on some toy. He then CONVERTS the devil that put him out of business.

This whole film is stupid. The acting is nothing to brag about. The only thing good about this film is that there will not a be a sequel! If there is I won't see it.

I think the film (as someone else stated) be remade. The idea of it is "good" it was just written poorly and acted with nobody with any talent!

Great message!

Sure, the acting and production is low budget, but the story is wonderful! It's a great message. The one star reviews complaining that there is "too much Christianity" being pushed, tells me that more more people need to receive this message of the true meaning of Christmas.

Unfair criticisms by angry people

I am always amazed by negative reviewers who blast limited budget Christian movies calling them "preachy" because they are not Hollywood blockbusters. Christmas Grace is not a Hollywood blockbuster. The production value is not the highest. But is that really all that matters? Hardly.

This is a straight forward Christian movie. Sadly many so-called faith based moves are not only made on a limited budget, they fail to communicate the gospel. That is not the case here. This is a nice story and it certainly communicates the gospel.

So because some don't like the gospel, they feel compelled to blast the movie and everybody connected with it? Every film is "preachy" in the sense that every film communicates something of the film maker's worldview. Don't blast the film because you don't subscribe to the film makers worldview. Just don't watch the movie.

I heartily recommend this simple movie that does a great job communicating the love of God, and how those touched by that love are to love others--including their enemies. I guess that is why angry hateful people feel compelled to arrogantly amuse themselves by ridiculing the film. Those who have been the recipients of God's marvelous grace will appreciate it- -despite its cinematic limitations.

They Tried & They Failed

The road to hell has always been paved with good intentions. For every great "Christmas Theme" film we get bad ones like "Christmas Grace".

This film is one of those films that you might watch in Sunday School. The story is preposterous and the execution of the story is poorly made out.

The main character n this film seems to be a little crazy yet nobody calls him out on his delusional behavior.

In this film a man loses everything because a greedy store owner puts this man out of business.

If you want to watch be prepared for the unintentional humor

It was a very cold night for it being Summer. The heavy rain that came down in buckets had cooled down the evening sky. A hint of humidity was lingering and the smell of wet cement left a odor so bad that one could get a bloody nose if they stay outside too long.

What was going to be a fun Summer night has now turned into a precursor of the pending fall. One knew however once fall arrived school would start and parents will be happy as their children are on the first day of Summer Vacation.

If this review doesn't make any sense to you then the movie "Christmas Grace" might entertain you. Beware this review is much better than the film

I had to watch this

A friend of mine called me yesterday and told me to watch this. I was able to stream it for free (Thank God). He told "Ed Wood made better films". I thought he was kidding however he wasn't. This was the longest movie I had to sit through. It ran for 90 minutes but it felt like 9 years!

This film is truly torture device that the army should use. In this dreadful film a man loses everything that cares about except his faith in "Jesus" and "God". His faith carries him through a difficult time however "God should saved me from watching this crap".

The screenplay was terrible. The acting was armature hour! Please watch this and review it. I can not be the only person who hated this film!
