Checkmate

Warning: Spoilers
Dexter spends the night with Hannah and he brings her home in the morning, promising not to see each other again. However Sal Price is stalking Hannah and blackmails Dexter to give information to him about Wayne; otherwise he will destroy his career telling that he forged the blood report to protect his love. Price also forces Hannah to meet him to tell details about Wayne's crimes and she accepts too protect Dexter. Price also meets Debra and tells that his technician does not agree with Dexter's report and believes that Hannah killed her husband and her former boss with poison. Isaak is released from prison due to the lack of the blood evidence and the crime scene in the bar is totally destroyed with sewage by the Koshka Brotherhood. Angel finds that Quinn was the only one that had been in the evidence room in the last 72 hours, but Quinn tells that he has nothing to do with the disappearance of the evidence and Angel believes. Then Quinn lends ten thousand dollar to Angel for buying the restaurant. Dexter plots a scheme to incriminate Sal Price and stop his blackmail with Hannah and him. However, Sal Price has a heart attack and dies in Dexter's apartment. Dexter visits Hannah and they spend the night together again. In the middle of the night, Dexter receives a phone call from Debra with a strange request from her.

"Chemistry" is another episode where Dexter violates Harris's Code in the name of love (or chemistry). The dangerous Isaak Sirko is back to the streets and George still hold Nadia's passport and freedom. Quinn uses the bribery from the Koshka Brotherhood to help Angel but this attitude does not exempt him for what he did. Dexter is in checkmate now with Hannah. My vote is nine.

Excellent drama and thriller.
anand-jha-here21 November 2012
This episode was the best episode in this season. From the starting minute to the last minute it was near perfect. Dexter has surprised me this season too. It has three killers side by side for a change from the other seasons. And the new actors in the season are doing a brilliant job as actors. This season is heading for an amazing pen ultimate episode and season finale. Every season when i think they have shown everything, then they come out with another brilliant season. Thumbs up again to show time for Dexter this season. I would give it a 9.5/10. Cant wait for next episodes. Dexter is the epitome of thriller series. Hoping for the best.

Does Dexter have Chemistry?
MovieFinatic12 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
It's been a while since we've seen an episode written to this calibre, while it may have not been the most exciting episode yet, it was written very well. From dialogue to actions to scripts the episode seemed amazingly solid and did some extenuating character development without it being boring.

This episode was Directed by Holly Dale and Written by Manny Coto & Karen Campbell, they all deliver a fantastic episode with no faults what so ever. The episode is very intense and has some great dialogue. The title once again really suits the episode "Chemistry", Hannah and Dexter, Quinn and Nadia, Deb and Sal Price all have Chemistry that in one way or the other prove to have bad consequences.

Overall I thought the episode was a great episode and finishes the Season's main character development.

Chemical reaction
dannylee-7808215 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Dexter falls in love with Hannah 2. Sal price is killed by Hannah 3. Debra puts a hit on Hannah

This whole Hannah plot line makes more sense in this episode. It makes sense why they are able to connect. I would have preferred to see more of the Russian mob with British accent but this subplot is interesting enough now.

This episode featured Debra's turning point where she orders Dexter to kill Hannah, not only due to injustice but she was seeing Price. It became a little personal. This is going to cause some massive conflict for Dexter because he professes that this chemical reaction he's feeling may be love. Meanwhile, Laguerta is still chasing Dexter so things are only bound to get more interesting.

S7.E7 - Hannah the Killer [9/10]
panagiotis199325 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S7. E7) My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 7 Episode 7 ''Chemistry'': Episode 6 was good and I gave it a rating of 8.8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. All of Dex's girlfriends are blondes, not a coincidence, he like them this way. Sal Price is a bit annoying, and he wants to write a story about Hannah with Dex included? That sucks. Dex and Hannah have good chemistry. Cant wait to see Sirko on Dex's table. Did Hannah poison Sal Price? So Deb starts dating this guy and now he is dead, Deb is so unlucky. Sal Price was innocent and Hannah killed him so I don't understand why Dex wants to have a relationship with a killer, isn't that against the code? Deb wants Dex to kill Hannah? Damn, I didn't see that coming. Overall a really good episode, my rating is 9/10.

Getting Close and Closing In
talksallabout-426-53634514 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The season 2 episode 7 episode of Showtime's "Dexter" is entitled "Chemistry." The title refers to the sexual/emotional connection between Dexter and Hannah. Elements combining, setting off reactions, irreversible reactions, possibly explosive reactions, is a metaphor for the relationship between Dexter and Hannah. It's a wonderful name for the episode, but since I like to rename each episode to reflect the theme that I feel runs through the episode, I'm naming this one "Getting Close." The episode begins with Dexter and Hannah asleep on the killing table, a post-coital nap. Hannah wakes, takes hold of the knife Dex meant to use to kill her, straddles Dexter, and holds the knife to his throat. She wants to know why Dexter tried to kill her. Hannah had been calm when Dexter held the knife over her the previous night, and now it is Dexter's turn to be calm.

This is the beginning of my review on my blog "Premium Cable Reviews." I discuss how relationships are getter close--Dexter and Hannah, Debra and Sal, Quinn and Nadia--but also how threats are closing in on Dexter, Sirko, LaGuerta, and maybe even Debra. Check out my full review.

Poor story line
charlie-54-77921919 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Why would Dexter be so stupid as to tell a "near" target that he's a serial killer? Especially one that is close to being arrested. Locking up one Russian would not stop them coming for him and his family. Why would other detectives still trust Quinn unless they are useless at their jobs.

Instead of killing Dexter let Hannah go. She then returns the favor by holding a knife to his neck to find out why he did this to her. In the car the day after Dexter and Hannah come to an agreement that he will not try to kill her again. Dexter feels strange that Hannah seems OK with murder. When Dexter drops Hannah home Sal is outside keeping a watch on her. Dexter try's to make a deal to keep him quiet by giving information on Wayne's last words. Debra talks to LaGuerta that she has nothing on her investigation into Dexter's cases of the past. Debar talks to Dexter his blood test and how he may be covering for Hannah so he can kill her. When Isaac's blood connecting him to the murders are gone everyone wonders if there is a mole covering for Isaac. When they police get to the crime scene they see that the crime scene has been contaminated. Angel asks Quinn if he was responsible for the evidence gone missing. Dexter calls Debra where she tells him to stay away from Isaac because the police will be keeping a close eye on Isaac. Sal gives the address of Wayne's sister to Debra in order for a deal. Quinn's girlfriend is back and he promises to keep her safe. Debra meets with the sister and finds out that Hannah was expecting a baby but had a miscarriage because of the depression of losing her love. Sal try's to talk to Hannah and she makes a deal to talk to him in the night. Dexter thinks Price could be connected to one of the murders he wrote about. When Quinn try's to get his girlfriend out of the club business but he is not able to get her out of it. Dexter comes to meet with Hannah about what their next move will be. Dexter walks away from Hannah wondering why he is. When Debra looks at the body she sees it is untestable because he is just bones and no skin. When Sal and Hannah start their first interview Dexter is in Sal's house looking for something to use against him. As Hannah tells her story she starts to cry trying to get the final words out. She tells him of stabbing the wife. While Dexter is having something to eat Isaac pops up with the police looking at the two talking. Dexter tells Isaac how he killed Victor and that he might do the same to him. Sal comes to Dexter's house and Dexter tells him that some of his blood came up in a case he wrote about. When Sal freaks out Sal falls hitting his head off a table. Dexter knows straight that Hannah had something o do with it. Debra then arrives at the crime scene and once again feels bad that another person she goes on a date with dies. Hannah is then called in to be questioned by Debra. When Dexter goes to question Hannah he tells her he took care of the book while she took care of the writer. When Debra gets the blood results she sees that Hannah covered up the poisoning. Debra listens to the audio of Hannah when she was interviewed by Price while Hannah and Dexter are in bed together again. Debra then calls Dexter asking him to kill Hannah for killing Sal. Standard episode with nothing that special.
