Gripping first half dragged towards the end
paragshrijoshi15 June 2023
The series starts off really well and one can definitely say it's coming from the man who made Scam 1992. Hansal Mehta excels in almost every aspect of storytelling especially the tense sequences of interrogation which reminds me highly of the former series.

Casting couldn't have been any better as each and every character delivers one of the best performance of their lives. Zeeshan as Imran would be the most standout performance of all. Special mention to the dialogues and characterisation which is the best written one.

However, it feels Mehta didn't have much content post episode 3/4 and the series seems dragged towards the end.

What a scoop
sameerlodaya2 June 2023
Sameer lodaya

What a scoop been offered by Hansal mehta totally outrageous

To start with the content the makers have taken from the book behind bars in byculla..the making is so strong that if you start watching I bet you will get up only after finishing it..after SCAM Hansal mehta gave a step above series and proved his mark..the scenes were so intense that it will shatter you..the facts were kept open to give the audience the tour of the system..the pace is very catchy and made in reasonable 6 episodes..Hansal once again proved the innocence of society victims like Harshad mehta and now jignesh Vora

Karishma tanna was a hidden gem explored by Hansal mehta its a director who only can take out the real talent from an actor otherwise who can imagine Karishma playing such a strong and leading role with good support from Deven and zeeshan.

This weekend we have good choices like scoop and Asur 2.

rekhachetry2 June 2023
Just finished Scoop on Netflix After SCAM this is must watch. Karishma tanna is superb in her role. Total episodes- 06 I bet every episode will set you to the edge of your seat. Episodes are interesting there is no dram no romance just a pure classic story of a journalist played by Karishma Tanna. Watch it on Netflix it's a superb web series to watch on this weekend. Karishma Tanna is so natural actor she is like hidden gem as we have always seen her working in tv daily shows never thought she will be this much fit in web serieses like this. Hope to see Karishma Tanna in more web series like this in future.

Hansal Mehta Masterpiece
treethinking10 June 2023
After Scam 92 this is another Hansal Mehta Masterpiece. Excellent story telling that keeps you engaged with stellar performances by Karishma Tanna, Zeeshan Ayub, Deven Bhojani, Prasenjit, Harman Baweja and many other class actors. Karishma Tanna proved that she is much more than her glamorous and beautiful looks while Zeeshan Ayub was spell bounding as Imran as well as the pivotal actor in the show. It was great to see the cute Mr. Deven Bhojani from Dekh Bhai Dekh fame after long, Prasenjit did well in a small guest role. Directors like Zoya Akhtar need to learn direction & story telling from Hansal Mehta. Though it's a depressing story, it has a positive ending with redemption from the dark world of news for the lead character.

It's Karishma Tanna all the way!
mailmitratoday2 June 2023
The story is power. Binge worthy for sure. Will bring out all kinds of emotions in you. But if you want to watch it for one reason then it has to be Karishma Tanna. Freaking outstandingly awesome she is. Makes me wonder how did the industry waste her talent all these years. The supporting cast also brilliant, especially mohd Zeeshan Ayub and the actor who portrayed Jagtap. Also do let me know in case you recognise Harman Baweja!! Another good part of this series is that it's 6 episodes only and not the traditional 8-10 episode web series which always are dragged and can have a smaller runtime .

Great acting and more, but a horribly failing scenario
JohnM6319 June 2023
Reading the many positive reviews and seeing the high average rating, I decided to watch this six episode series, based on true events.

At the end I was left disappointed . A closer look at the reviews reveals that many reviews are from people from India. India not only has a great film industry, but - as it turns out- also an army of people that tend to overrate films from their country.

Scoop does not suffer from poor acting, poor dialogues, sound or cinematography. On the contrary, these aspects are way above average and if they were the only factors to base judgment on, it would probably deserve 9 or 10 stars.

However, at the core of each series lies a story and - most importantly - the way it is told. The true events behind this series could have lead to a great series. However the scenario is a complete mess. The only aspect that remains upright is the tragic story of a journalist who is wrongfully detained. Everything else related to this (corruption of the police, ties between government and criminals etc.) remains largely in some sort of chaotic darkness. Maybe the true situation at the time was very complex. If that is the case then the scenario writer has the task to create some clarity so that the viewer is able to tell in a few sentences what it is about. No way the average viewer would succeed at doing this. There's just a garbage bag full of people, connections, names, events, interests etc., but never will you get the complete picture as a viewer.

For failing to tell the complete story in a clear and accessible way and leaving viewers in the dark as to important facts, I cannot rate this with more than 6 stars., Worse is that because of this failing scenario the case this series wants to make for freedom of press and against corruption weakens.

It still might be worth you while though.

Another good one from Hansal Mehta
honeyarora-823554 June 2023
After the brilliance of Scam (the Harshad Mehta series on sony liv), my expectations from this Netflix series were high. It's not quite there, probably because of a different (and less glamorous) plot (nothing comes close to Rags to Riches to crash story of Harshad Mehta). But nevertheless, quite an intriguing series that kept me hooked for the most part of it. The protagonist is a strong impactful character played very well by Karishma Tanna. There were episodes during jail ordeal that were exaggerated and elongated, but other than that a well made series that shows the dark side of journalism. Watch it for the strong performances of Karishma and Zeeshan; and the strong storytelling of Hansal!

Hansal Mehta delivers A Gripping Tale That Demands Attention
iknafilms7 June 2023
The 6-episode show captures our attention with its gripping story and sheds light on the harsh reality of seeking the truth. Scoop's compelling plot has everything to make us curious, even if it's not what we desire, it's something we can't overlook. The creators adds entertainment value by taking creative liberties, but disappointingly lacks clear explanations for characters' motivations, leaving viewers to interpret subtly, making a stronger, more definitive ending preferable. Nevertheless, Scoop an essential story that must be shared, reminding the masses that disregarding inconvenient truths is unpleasant to their own narrative.

A very intriguing yet emotional series!
kanumahajan-819452 June 2023
The series is based on real life events of a journalist caught in the web of lies and deceit. The 'hero' of the series 'Karishma Tanna' shines and leaves an everlasting impact with her impeccable acting prowess. The story has been very well executed by renowned director 'Hansal Mehta'.

The story invokes myriad emotions full of anger and resentment towards the plight of an innocent woman who is the suspect but turns into a hapless and helpless victim at the hands of ugly and corrupt system.

All the actors right from Ayub Khan to Harman Baweja have played their part remarkably well. A must watch series only on 'Netflix'.

Good watch
jigneshastranger28 June 2023
Its a good series... It will Remind you of SCAM, because the makers are same. Nicely made, nicely acted. Overall its a must watch once atleast.

There are some minute, technical flaws... Or detailing is slightly poor for eg (1) You will see KIA SELTOS on the roads, where as story happened in 2011 & KIA company came to India after 2017. So its a minor detailing miss.

(2) some aerial footages of south Mumbai shown, where you can almost spot Coastal road project... Its visible if you watch minutely.

There are other few time lapse examples.. But barring such Detailing, Story, editing, acting, music everything is Fine..

Based on true chilling events in the world of journalism
PavanKV4 June 2023
Scoop - Based on true chilling events in the world of journalism, Mumbai police and underworld. It comes with heavy dosage of speculation and thoughtful narrative, and takes journalists into a dangerous game. Story is gutsy and well narrated. Also complex with neatly woven intent. Karishma Tanna has done a commendable job with confidence, emotions, sadness and fighting spirit. Zeeshan and Harman has supported really well. A bit slow, but built in a methodical way, with crisply executed crime story. Go for it on Netflix as the web series takes audience in this ride with power, grit, politics, mafia with strong characters.

B.O.R.I.N.G
Me_SM_10 June 2023
Slow, boring, overstretched, tiresome, avoidable.

Makers could have finished in 2 hours. It is difficult to remain attached when the pace is so slow. To add the length, there were some directionless side stories.

You know it is coming, about to happen, almost there, but then it hardly moves. Some good acting and 'setting the era' are saving the otherwise weak show.

Based on true events is a good catch, but it has to be made honestly. Adding unnecessary dramatization and side stories doesn't make it better but spoils the experience. May be, next time I'll not trust Hansal Mehta blindly.

A weak show by Netflix, a rarity.

Slow Pace and Non-linear screenplay
rohitkarki-313513 June 2023
While the first two episodes keeps you little curious how the show will take its turn to keep you hooked but as the episodes continue you feel little exhausted with the plot and the screenplay. The dialogues and BGM is decent not that much great compared to scam 1992. Coming to the storyline, the premise we already know and the first two episodes only build up to get you know what exactly the show all about. But remaining last 3 episodes are lengthy with no mystery left and only with the masala of some police and media interaction. The findings, research and execution is below average. They have tried to show the complexity on it which ultimately keeps you less engaged.

KT's Best Performance Till Date
kotadia-dushyant16 June 2023
This was KT's Best performance after Sanju. Story of a Gujrati Journalist Jigna Vora is presented in such a beautiful way Hats off to the Captain of Ship Hansal Mehta who never disappoints us by his work. Truly Amazing 10 Stars. His previous work was Scam 1992 that was a master piece. Only thing I felt was lacking in Scoop was that emotional music which was very impactful in Scam 1992. Rest everything was perfect. The way Hansal Show us the biography is wonderful. Wondering who is next in bucket list of Hansal Sir. And Finally Karishma Tanna (KT) i think even you know that its your best work. Looking forward to see you more in such content rather typical Bollywood masala stuffs.

We just saw Scame 1992 Part 2
shyamal8904 June 2023
First few episdoes felt uneventful like the story is not going anywhere. It felt like a regular tv series on how news journalists run after a story.

Its only when Jagruti got aressted did the story took a turn for better and just kept on improving till culmination.

The inhuman treatment of under-trials, the depiction of how a person's will is systematically broken, the pain and fight of her family, the emotions of her and her child.

It feels so real that at the end of story you are rooting for Jagruti to get out of jail and be declared innocent. (While in the series she does get out of jail but in real-life many are not so fortunate)

These are the type of stories modern India needs not the typical 90s love stories. We have grown as a nation and so should our stories.

Recommended 👍🏼 by Hit Ya Flop - Movie World
nitsvirusboyz4 June 2023
Scoop is a well-executed and binge-worthy show due to its powerful script, brilliant direction, and great performance. The makers kept the series short and crisp instead of dragging it to 8 or 10 episodes. Hansal Mehta's direction is the major highlight of the show. He manages to keep the viewers hooked in all 6 episodes.

Karishma Tanna as Jagruti Pathak has delivered a remarkable performance. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Deven Bhojani shine in their roles. Prosenjit Chatterjee, Harman Baweja, Tanmay Dhanania, Inayat Sood, and all other supporting actors have given praiseworthy performances.

Direction 3.5/5 Acting 3.5/5 Dialogues 3/5 Story 4/5 Screenplay 3.5/5.

Well researched Storyline
AnoopVarma3 June 2023
Scoop Streaming on Netflix released on 02nd June 2023 Storyline is based on Jigna Vora's book Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison. In June 2011, crime journalist Jyotirmoy Dey was murdered. Jigna Vora was sent to jail in this case. Jigna was then the deputy bureau chief of the newspaper named Asian Age. Jigna was accused of having a personal enmity with Jyotirmoy Dey. Because of this, she provided some information to the Chhota Rajan gang. On the basis of that Jyotirmoy was identified and killed. Obviously the names of the characters and newspapers have been changed in this series.

Series shows how there is a difference between that real incident and the story that reaches the general public.

Scoop talks about the deep trench between honesty and newspaper-selling journalism. Business interference in media work. In a male-dominated society, a woman's success is linked to her body instead of her mind. The battle between honesty and reward. Draconian use of MOCOCA & TADA. Nexus between Underworld, Media and Police. This series talks on all these above issues comfortably. Series presents you facts, not results.

The quote of Jonathan Freasure has been quoted by a character Imran Chief Editor of a Newspaper in a scene If one person says that it is raining outside and the other says that it is sunny outside. In such a situation, the job of the media is not to tell the side of both, but to tell the truth by looking outside the window itself.

Hansal Mehta Director of Scam 1992, Faraz directed Scoop with full research. His narratives are very clear. Every department of Series is par excellence.

Our own Bumba da Prosenjit again impressive after Jubilee.

Stellar performance by Zeesan Ayub, Tanmay Dhanania and all other artist.

Brilliant performance by Karisma Tanna in lead role. She is the Hero of the series.

A must watch Series.

My rating is 5 out of 5.

Why only 6 episodes????
jeettalreja-8873712 June 2023
I was really hooked on this show and was following the narrative quite well but then it just suddenly ends. Felt like all the characters were superbly casted, everyone had a really vital role to play but still they could have tried a better finale with something better. Yes, there is one big moment in the last episode but it felt the show was half cooked for even season 1. Now, i will have to wait 1+ year for season 2 and by that time I would have forgotten all about this show. Only hope now is that they come back next season with even better storyline and try to minimise the characters to a minimum but not at the cost of plot.

Amazing story, execution and performance
iamarmanali4 June 2023
I was assuming this will be very average commercial kind of a story but when I started watching I watched 5 out of 6 episodes in 1 night till 5am. The story was very heart touching which is rear these days in Bollywood.

The performance of everyone is amazing but Karishma Tanna is spectacular in this role whoever casted her Thanks alot for showing this of her acting skills. I have never seen her like this or knew she can do a role like this.

Moreover I would suggest directors to pick Karishma for their projects as she has proven herself big this time.

Unfortunately this is the reality of this world as it happens in real life. Almost cried watching this.

Overall a masterpiece!

Wonderfully woven series
veminap2 June 2023
There is not a single edit I would like to make.. wonderfully articulated with not being too preachy .. human emotions shown beautifully without over the top drama.. choosing artists to play the role, hats off to casting team.. they just sat rightfully there.. hansal mehta at best.

Karishma Tanna was good and aqqub Iqbal one the underrated actor was one of the best. Even supporting cast along with the child artist was excellent.

Also the changing times of news channel and its focus on mere entertainment value hits hard. At the end of the day it gave us the scoop we are looking for.

A whole and whole good watch movie..

Difficult watch if using subtitles
markludlam15 July 2023
We gave up after 3 episodes. There are so many characters introduced which we never see that it is really difficult to follow. The viewer is bombarded with names in the first two episodes but we never see who these people are. It also helps if you know the structure of the police service to understand relationships. Then you need to understand that there are at least 3 rival newspapers all of whom have different characters working for them.

Who are Rajan and Dawood and who are their accomplices and which journalist knows who? For non Hindi speakers, we spent so much time reading the fast paced dialogue we had no time to see which characters were saying what. We watch LOADS of Indian series and movies but this was unintelligible to us.

SCOOP:-the nitty-gritties of journalism
puranjanbasak17 June 2023
Scoop is a biographical crime drama directed by hansal mehta.

Karishma tanna has acted out of her skins. In the first three episodes, she was good, her act was brimming with potential. But from 4th onwards, she touched the pinnacle. Bagged the primary character, did full justice to it. The paranoia, the breakdowns, the horrific mental state has been shown hauntingly well by her. Mohammad zeeshan ayyub, deven bhojani, tanmay dhanania acted outstandingly in supporting roles. Harman baweja was a surprise package after so many years. It seems he has upgraded his skills. The cast was amazing.

The writing of hansal mehta's show has always been strong. Not any different here as well. The peaks and crashes of journalism, the rivalries, the source snatchings, the ambitions, have been researched so well. The arc of jagruti pathak has been expanded brilliantly. The media trials and tribulations, the court proceedings are very real and genuine. The screenplay never lets the expositions and runtime feel lethargic. Its a big show and yet you feel engaged and engrossed.

The music by achint thakkar is bound to be a banger. After scam 1992 and rocket boys, he composes a very catchy theme and background score. The dialogues hit pretty hard. For eg:-"in the good old days, when journalism was good, it was termed controversial, but nowadays its the opposite, if the journalism is controversial, it is inevitably good. Shows the whole picture of contemporary decaying state of journalism in india. My personal favourite was "if a person tells you that its raining outside, and another one tells you its sunny, its not your job to quote them both, your job is to look out of the window." What an excellent dialogue it is. The ethics and economics of journalism both are put at loggerheads in this series.

The cinematography is outstanding as well. The sequences in jail are unnerving and disturbing at the same time. The power dynamics could have been fleshed out better, something that season 1 of criminal justice did pretty well.

Gripping court drama by Hansal mehta
bilallone-287747 June 2023
This is one of the best court dramas I have seen.. hansal Mehta has nailed it again.

Scoop doesn't hate journalists, nor does it want you to. It respects the profession and acknowledges the dangers involved, but also points its finger at the increasingly volatile scenario of the current trend of controversy-happy, clickbait journalism. There is no time for truth, only views. Less facts, more gossip. All part and parcel of the hustle. Scoop is gripping, thought-provoking work- right down to its bone-chilling final credits, and it is brought together by a director in full command of his craft. All reports need evidence, while some mostly need courage

Overall, Scoop is a limited series that hits the right notes more often than not. Impactful performances, an authentic vibe and setting and an emotional end, make for a powerful drama. If you like hard-hitting dramas based on real life, it is a must-watch..

Binge worthy
bothambhai10 June 2023
This series is absolutely binge worthy. We finished all episodes in one sitting. Very tight script and excellent execution. I was pleasantly surprised with Karishma Tanna's effort in this series, she has transformed herself for the incarcerated period of this character. Acting wise she has excelled in most parts but unfortunately has taken the easy path during a few scenes. Zeeshan Ayub has excelled, crisp dialogue delivery and expressions. Hiten Bhojwani has done a great job. Harman Baweja has been wasted (what happened to this dude? Could barely recognize this erstwhile Hrithik lookalike). Hansal Mehta has done a stellar job in directing this series, Hats off, Sir.

UNMISSABLE!!
mayankshukla14047 June 2023
Scoop is easily the best show to come out in recent times. Another masterpiece from director Hansal Mehta who is one of the best storytellers of our times. The detailing and honesty with which he tells a story and creates his characters is commendable. The show sheds light on the fall of journalism ethics which is more relevant than ever today.

Karishma Tanna becomes Jigna Vora, the crime journalist she is playing here. Her performance will certainly find a place amongst the best when the year ends. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is a treat to watch. The rest of the cast shines too. The background score by Achint elevates the scenes especially the emotional ones.
